About this mod

Adds a 5-step scoped zoom function for Extreme Sniping. Shouldn't conflict with any other mod, and afaik it's 100% functional on ANY guns, even mod-added ones. Short, painless 1-time setup requires any gun, then Equip any gun, hold Scope, and activate zoom.

<The Story:>

>>Dear God(s?)
>
>>I know the deal here in the Commonwealth, how there's some overriding "God-Device" above me pulling all the strings and calling all the shots and making the world I see somehow. How else can you explain some people literally being replaced by other, totally different people in different clothes with different gear and different tiny stories and new-to-me faces every time I turn my back on them, or how sometimes I suddenly have unlimited ammo and items and can't be hurt by anything while feeling somehow compelled to haul a literal mountain of useless junk home and right away spend HOURS picking out the useful bits? The real kicker for me, the key puzzle piece, was my new Pipboy and how VATS can slow the world to about 5% of it's normal speed and lets me call my shots so well with that insane-O bizzare-O interface.  I'm honestly a little paranoid of the thing, I can't seem to take it off ever and I'm pretty sure it does a heck of a lot more than just keep track of everything in the world around and pertaining to me. And the weather here in this supposedly "real" world.... Don't get me started on how artificial it is. How in the HELL can it rain on me when I'm on the lower level of an unroofed-but-otherwise-perfect 2-3 story building with a whole floored level or two above me? I get it guys, it's some kinda computer to brain interface giving me some safe "virtual" training in a world they think I can expect after the Rads die down and the Vault really releases me. I'm not upset at you, God(s?), that's not why I'm writing this. I'm writing this in the hope you will share it with the other Vault Dwellers as a sorta "world-Modification" like seems to happen sometimes. One second I didn't have stuff or abilities, and the next I do, whole new towns or houses or people or things being added and removed all the time. There's gotta be some kida thing like a Holotape add-on Module that gets applied to the world, too much stuff changes at the same time for one person or thing to do and keep track of all od it at once without some sort of Master plan/plugin module system with some kinda libraries of "recipes" and "Functions" and "events" for objects and people and just "stuff" to refer to, and the whole world seems kinda repetitive and modular anyways.

>>I was wandering somewhere, and found myself near Barney the sniper and his never-ending life of killing off Mudcrabs and me being the guy gets to turn on the turrets and take some out by hand, and this time around, he handed me the Holotape I'm adding this to. I figured it might be a way to "talk to God" directly, seemingly being placed in my strangely absent but unbelievably capacious pockets by His Almighty Hand rather directly. There was some sorta weird, long pause while I was being talked to and rewarded by Barney, and The Very Letters Of God appeared before my humble eyes, overlaid on the rest of the world as if by magic, highlighting  the Sacred New Words that His New Herald Barney Spake unto me in a kinda disjointed fashion on that most happy and drug-fueled(and sorta hazy and weird) day.
I found this Holotape insanely useful, it somehow finally lets me use the Bloody Zoom adjustment knobs ALL the scopes I can make or find have that have never worked before.

>>Since there HAS to be a God-Program of whatever form out there, and since how I play this game I seem to be trapped in seems to affect what happens to it and how it changes, mebbe "IT" will notice this letter to "IT" or the fact that I'm about 200X better at long distance sniping and literally scoping out trouble and stuff with this new Module, and hopefully somehow spread it around to the other Vault-Dwellers out there and their "Sole Survivor" worlds. You never know what might happen, right?

>><Addendum the Next Day:> I wrote this while whackjob stoned on a massive overdose of some kinda weird chem I found cooked up in a random Chembench I visited. Since I've now come down off whatever that was I would usually just erase this, but I set this one to read only and rambled out almost all the free space on it. Obviously the Holotape is Real, you're reading it now. The cassette itself is stamped on the base in tiny tiny little letters the lines "RATZ, Made_by_Robco, Mass_Defence_Dept" with the date APR_18_2077 under that, with a mostly-working program called RATZ on it. It's much as I described it, and I think there might be more to be discovered than I ranted about last night, just haven't figured it out yet. When I Initilized the Main Function, a new Function popped up under that one, and there's 2-3 different levels of menus that might do this, so I'm hopeful. I know the "god-program" is real sometimes, and sometimes I don't. Like everything since I went into the Vault I can never quite tell what's real or not anymore. TBH, I don't know that I can even trust myself alot of time. I sometimes remember doing horrible things to people, wiping out whole towns or settlements, the Brotherhood, the Institute, and most of those folks are still fine afaik, I'm doing jobs for Preston and the other two gangs right now. But since things can be reset or replaced with other very similar things in cycles, what if I can be reset and cycled that way, and those memories are just some kinda memory bleed/overload/modification of the new "Form" or "mold" the world resets me to back in Vault 111 again? Thoughts like that make me DO unknown drugs and binge-drink 98 bottles of whiskey in 3.2 seconds in the first place. But that's a rant for another time, this Holotape is reading just about full up, and I guess I wasn't so sober after all.  Goodnight, goodbye, hello, mebbe forever, if anyone or anything out there reads this.
Sincerely,
Nate Matieus, Sole Survivor of Vault 111

<V5 Should fix PA issues, also adds a Potion of Reset Default Zoom to chembenches, should be under healing. Take it to redo your default zoom level. >

Adds an on-the-fly zoom function to weapons. Shouldn't conflict with any other mod, and it's totally functional on custom/mod-added weapons, I don't actually touch weapons or OMODs/equipment upgrades/projectiles/any of that at all, just changing your view. Equip a gun, and right-click. You'll see a menu popup, with further instructions on setup. After this, all you should need to do is hold right-click/scope someone/something, and press the labelled "activate" key to zoom one step. Each step is about a 15-20% increase in zoom, with lvl 5 being roughly 80% magnified, after which it resets to 1. If you walk too far while scoped and lose the "Zoom" popup, just let go of your scope button and pull it back up quickly."The Zone" is much longer forwards/backwards than side to side, mostly forwards, so you can advance 4-5 steps crouched, 3-4 standing. You'll have to play with it a little to get a feel for it, but I thought it felt a bit more "balanced" and real if it was a bit touchy somehow. Also an unavoidable minor technical issue with my modding method this time around, as you cant actually add to/change the Scope/Zoom/weapon view "game system" the way it might appear to work in-game so I'm "faking" it another way under the hood. Apologies, but all that DOES mean it should "just work" with literally any weapon that has iron sights/a scope ever, and need no patches to do so, so I don't mind at all.....

The only warning I'm going to post about this one is that I'm changing your in-game 1st-person FOV with it, so you NEED to put the correct # into the setup menu or this mod won't work right and will likely break your view totally and/or just leave it annoyingly "fish-eyed." Any persistent issues with FOV changes sticking after use should be resolved by saving, exiting the game and restarting then loading that save, or by reloading a previous one. The changes I make SHOULD only apply "per-session" and get rewritten by your INI file defaults on save game load, as I'm not firmly setting values, just softly modding existing ones. But sometimes Papyrus is kinda sloppy and you might conceivably get "stuck" with an inverted, crazy view or default somehow to 175 and only able to see 3 or 5 really large pixels. All of those sorta issues should be resolved using the save method I outline above, and if not you should be 100% for-sure ok after opening the console and typing (without quotes) "refreshini" then pressing the "enter" or "return" key. As i say above, I don't ever "set" values, which writes the value(s) as what I say they are to your save file, I "mod" them instead, which is "soft" or "per-session" and afaik is NOT written to your save and then is ALWAYS read from your INI file when your save file loads. Afaik it's a rocksolid method, but it is totally possible theres a glitch somewhere somehow, I am not a BGS Dev by any means. So if you find one I would love to hear from you, please post a bug report asap or Ill never know somethings wrong with things, right?

If you want to be able to actually shoot the folks you can now see so well, I recommend using  Longer Range Projectiles by oblspad, excellent mod that fills my sniping needs. Since it is perfect for that imho, I have no plans of adding such functionality to this mod, too much like work and not enough like fun for me. Specially when oblspad has already done such a wonderful job.

The Modification to Barney's Quest is currently available as an optional download. My additions to Barney's speechifying have no voices but otherwise should be fairly well-working, I forced subtitles so y'all know what he "says". Choose V2 OR the optional file to download, NOT both. You MUST NOT have been rewarded by Barney for completing the quest "Gun Run," if you have you will need a new save, apologies.  In THE STORY VERSION ONLY RATZ is available to be created at a chembench after completing the quest "Gun Run," as you can discard it.  PLEASE post feedback on the additions to Barney and how it all felt to you. I'm goin for nothing more complex than it seems on the surface, a simple, generic side quest just happens to give you a really cool reward. I chose Barney mostly at random, cuz he's "free", not tied to any faction or anything, hopefully him and his worldspace are mostly ignored by other modders, and cuz the rewards for his quest were quite easily manipulated to my needs. (A note about worldspace: I DO NOT explicitly edit any worldspaces/cells in this mod. My Modifications were specifically to Barney's dialogue, so hopefully should not conflict with anything that does edit such stuff, AS LONG AS it leaves the quest "Gun Run" intact.  I technically coulda got away with literally just adding one function/line of papyrus script to the quest and not touching Barney at all, and don't normally edit worldspace/NPC's or existing quests at all. I've almost always done some kinda modded 3d object before, so I just add my mods to the world thru workbenches or build mode but after Nate's story appeared I felt this mod deserved something a little more immersive and "polished," and a little more effort from me.  Apologies that my storytelling/writing sucks folks, but I''ve never been a storyteller before, just a sometimes bad poet, and am rather amazed myself that a semi-coherent narrative came from this source.

 ISO VOICE ACTOR I could really use a Voice actor to do my additions to Barney's lines. You DO NOT have to sound like him at all or be a "pro"voice actor, I couldn't care less about immersion really, just need a  human other than me (really just a live voice, so a half-trained gorillasynth with a vox modulation implant would do, if you happen to have one I could borrow for a few days, I aint that picky)  who is willing, technically knowledgeable enough (can record own voice and save a .wav file in some program) and physically able to (possessing some form of discrete/plug-in microphone, ability to press play/stop/save at the required time, upload a file I can download easily/download files I upload to Dropbox for you and a voice I can hear clearly)  record 5-6 short lines of dialogue and has internet to send/receive files {I know, duh, but I'm posting online, man, and there's supposed "humans" out there who actually think FB/Twitter/CBS/CNN/FOX/CBC/CTV/ECT show actual real NEWS, so anything's possible at any time from anybody and I gotta cover all the bases dude.}
