Created with Patcher. Feel free to create your own custom version using the rule available in the misc file section.
CTD when using my patches: You are missing a plugin. Go to the "Plugins" tab of your Nexus Mod Manager and check for any errors. Each patch requires the respective original mod to be installed as well as the Darker Nights main file.
XBOX One: I have finally uploaded this mod to Bethesda.net (platform is XBOX One). There is 14 files so far. I will try to address comment there as well and as often as I am able. Don't hesitate to post here or search previous posts since most issues will affect both platforms. Other than that, just to be safe, please see the ToS on Console modding.
Far Harbor & Nuka World DLC patches: Many people have not played through all the DLCs yet so be considerate when posting comments that may contain spoilers. Such is the one kind of post I may delete. When in doubt post a bug report and include word "spoiler" in the title.
Help me help you and post the following information when reporting visual problems: 1) Installed level of Darkness 2) Current weather and the time of day 3) Screenshot if possible (http://imgur.com/) 4) Which other mods and patches you have installed (load order)
Love this mod for the visuals and atmosphere but I have some questions / doubts :
I understand that choosing “Automatic” detection settings should result in a vanilla (unchanged) sneaking experience, regardless of the darkness level you choose.
I also understand that choosing “Vanilla” detection settings will make sneaking easier during the night. My question is, does it also make sneaking easier during the day ? I’m hoping not but based on my playtesting (at darkness level 02) it does also seem to affect daytime sneaking (detection distance), making it too easy (NPCs seem pretty shortsighted). Might just be my imagination though….
As regards using a “custom” detection setting, I am assuming that if you choose, say, darkness level 3 (Medium) then choosing detection levels 4,5 and 6 will make sneaking easier-than-vanilla, whereas choosing detection levels 2,1 and 0 will make sneaking harder-than-vanilla …. is this correct ?
I've been able to confirm that the previous version of True Storms ... v1.4.1 ... works with the Next Gen update; and works with Darker Nights.
However, the creator of True Storms recommends the use of a different mod by someone else, called True Nights.
So if you want to use Darker Nights, then you have to use the previous version of True Storms... v1.4.1 ... which is still available in their list of "old files" for download.
But if you want to use newer True Storms v1.4.2 .. then you should give up on Darker Nights (unless @unforbidable comes back and updates it), and use True Nights instead; which was also designed specifically for ENB users and looks best with ENB.
Its very dark in my game which I like but how the hell do you turn off this weird dim light that surrounds the character? Its not character light, I already turned that off but its something else entirely. I even tried to look up google but nothing comes up about it. The best way to describe it is if you have the darkest setting and not use a flashlight, you will notice that there is another source of light, almost like there is a very dim spotlight over the player character that lights up the area as you go that follows the character. I want to turn that off as I want to rely on flashlights but there is literally nothing about it anywhere in the internet.
LOVE this mod. but is there a way to do something about the stars at night, its still making where its not as dark even on the darkest settings. the stars kinda light up the sky making it a tad brighter than it should be.
I’m having a problem using your darker nights mod on Xbox. I have all dlc and I have true storms mod downloaded and from what I know those are the only two requirements to use your darker nights mod. But it keeps telling me that this mod cannot be installed since it depends on files that aren’t present. But I have the Mika world one installed just fine. Ok I deleted true storms then redownloaded and enabled it and that fixed it
i dont understand, the options under "Detection" dont make sense to me, if i select "Hardest (Level 0)" The description says: "Make it ultimately easier for the npcs to see you in low light conditions. Recommended for the Darkest level of darkness"
It i have it set the the darkest level and i can barely see at night, Why would i set it to make the npcs see me very easily in pitch black light. Wouldn't i want to make it just as hard for them as it is for me to see in pitch black night???
if im playing on the darkest setting, under detection shouldnt i set it to Easiest (Level 6). where it sasy that the npsc can only see a bit easier in low light, instead of setting it to Hardest where it says that npcs can ultimately see you easier. it sounds like those settings are backwards
these options dont make sense to me, can someone explain why that option is recommended for the "Darkest level of darkness" Setting??
Very confusing but I think to be safe just go with matching level of darkness with matching level of detection maybe? That makes the most sense but if someone else knows for sure please let me know.
The installer explains this clearly. If you set the nights darker with the mod, it actually affects how NPC's can see you. If you use the darkest setting, the NPC's can't see you at all and it could break the game. So to ofset this, you have to give them a buff. It is called hardest, because all the other options will make it easier, but if you use hardest in combination with darkest, it offsets eachother and gives you the vanilla sneak experience.
buts thats the thing i dont want the npcs to be able to see me at all in dark pitch black night. so if i want to take away their ability to see me on the darkest night settings which detection adjustment do i use?? Do i use Easiest level 6 if i dont want them to be able to see me at night??
When will Darker Nights update to be compatible with the newer True Storms v1.4.2 ?
It still requires v1.4.1
But True Storms updated to v1.4.2 .. and now Darker Night's doesnt work and reports "missing masters" for True Storms.
True Storms v1.4.1 is still available but unless True Storms' creator, Fadingsignal.. confirms that version works with Next Gen Update... then Darker Nights is an obsolete mod if its not updated.
I'm trying to install true storms + darker nights. For some reason, when checking the True Storms check compatibility on the Darker Nights mod, both stop working. Any idea why?
Because Darker Nights is dependent on True Storms v1.4.1
But True Storms is updated to v1.4.2... and now Darker Nights is broken and won't work.... so now you can only use one, or the other...but not both... until Darker Nights updates.
However... True Storms v1.4.1 is still available, but unless True Storms' creator, Fadingsignal.. confirms that version works with Next Gen Update... then Darker Nights is an obsolete mod if its not updated.
No it doesnt work. Using the newly updated True Storms v.1.4.2... and Darker Nights depends on V1.4.1 and now doesn't work unless you revert True Storms back to v1.4.1 but... the creator of True Storms has not yet confirmed whether v1.4.1 specificaly, will work with the next gen update...

It makes much more sense.
Because, if you think about it...
Without Darker Nights, NPC's can absolutely without EASE, can 100% see you in the dark, plain as day...
So the creator of Darker Nights came up with different levels of "easy" for each level of detection.
