During version 2.4 release of Modern Firearms, Idlesheep, MF team leader, accidentally packed the incorrect ESP file, labeled "Modern Firearms - 2.41" instead of the usual naming scheme: Modern Firearms.esp. This has caused a few issues for Reverb and Ambiance Overhaul (by mm137) users who also use MF and rely on RAO - MF compatibility patch.
A simple fix to get mm137's RAO - MF patch to work is to rename the ESP back to "Modern Firearms". However with the release of 2.4 and above, the MF team has since added new entries (e.g. SFX) which aren't covered by the original patch created for MF 2.31. Enter this mod. It fully supports both MF 2.4 and 2.41.
But if you look at the actual ESP, it's 2.41. Many changes, new weapons, etc. For example, FN FAL. It also introduces new bugs.
One thing for sure, the current patch on the official RAO page no longer works with the new MF. I couldn't wait for mm137 so I asked for his permission, and went ahead with the patch.
Hate to break it to you, but you'll lose all your guns, mods, etc. Anything MF. You'll need to create a clean save first. Delete the mod, load the game, then save it. After that, you're good to go. You can, then, install 2.4.
By the way, I think you're right about the version number. The ESP file is named 2.41, but says 2.4 in the description. Thanks. I'll change it to 2.4. -_-"
EDIT: If you're referring to RAO - MF patch, then it's safe to update it mid-game. But if you're referring to MF itself, follow the instructions above.
That's funny, because that's exactly what I did and the game works fine. I'm still using the old RAO patch for MF along with the Sidearms beta. those two wouldn't work before since the MF esp was renamed to include a version number. I have no Idea why they did that. Seemed unnecessary.
IKR. However if you compare my patch with the old one, you'll see that 2.4 has added new entries under SFX. So, yes, renaming it might work, but it doesn't cover the new effects MF 2.4 added.
That would be the Urban Assault parts, they aren't a single piece, but multiple pieces found at the modern firearms vending machine. They also sometimes drop on npcs.
for some reason ...my game won't even start (CTD before the game menu) with the new Modern Firearms 2.4 ? switched to MF 2.11 and back to normal...weird what am I missing ?
Have you followed the instructions on their website? You'll need to create a clean save first. Delete the mod, load the game, then save it. After that, you're good to go. You can, then, install 2.4. Keep in mind, by doing so, you'll lose all your MF items. If you've already done that, then you'll have to contact them re: the issue.

And no idea for the actual differences between the 2.31 and the 2.4.

And I hope they have added the FAMAS

Edit > Just given you a kudo, even if I don't use the reverb mod, you are very useful
EDIT: Thanks for the endorsement.

I hope it is, proper spacial ambience makes all the difference.
I'm hoping the beta file will work, but I'm not holding my breath.
Edit: Nevermind, found it.
EDIT: Seems like they only edited the level list from what I gathered. Will take a closer look in FO4Edit.
switched to MF 2.11 and back to normal...weird
