About this mod

A small mod that cleans up trash, weeds and other unscrappable debris around Sanctuary. Also makes all unscrappable houses scrappable.

My primary reasoning for creating this mod is that Sanctuary is the only large flat landspace in all of the Commonwealth that has nearby flowing water (I looked). I would like a good ground space to build up whatever future settlements interest me.

At first this mod started out as a personal file for removing inconvenient objects (rocks, tall weeds/bushes, garbage, unscrappable trees, etc) that were in
the way of settlement construction. I'd really only just begun with that before I started on Sanctuary. But Before I get into that, let me list off the nonSanctuary deletions. They were already a part of the file before I realized others may want the Sanctuary changes as well.
  • On Spectacle Island, on the north corner, I removed a burnt out house and all of it's unscrappable contents (see screenshot). I also removed some rocks and foliage on the hill just South of it (under the glass warehouse building in the images).
  • At County Crossing, there are two large unscrappable trees, some leaning telephone poles and quite a bit of shrubbery that I removed.
For Sanctuary, here are the innate changes...
  • Replaced the broken bridge with the PreWar equivalent. This wasn't just for beautification. That gaping hole in was a nuisance.
  • Removed all trash (rotting leaf piles, stones/bricks, wood planks strewn about, flowing but rooted tumbleweeds). Note, I did not remove anything that was already scrappable.
  • A few rocks also removed.
  • All the hedges are gone.
Here are the interactive changes...
  • The main tree in the circle has been converted to scrappable.
  • The burnt out playground equipment has been converted to scrappable (can't imagine anyone wanting to keep that, but who knows!).
  • All houses that were previously unscrappable can be scrapped (all previously scrappable contents remain, all previously unscrappable contents are now tied their house, so they will go away with the house).

Some Notes...
  • As I stated, everything that was already scrappable, I didn't touch.
  • I left the Workshop Bench where it is. I tried moving it in slightly so it wasn't hanging over the edge of the foundation, but the game kept self correcting it's placement, so I left it alone.
  • The main character's house's foundation is unique in Sanctuary. It was designed to support interior and exterior walls. Therefore, there is a visual gap at it's edge. There is no equivalent vanilla foundation to replace it with, so I've left it as is. It's not that noticeable and should not cause game issues.
  • I thought about replacing all the roads with their pre-war equivalents, but this isn't about beautification specifically. It's more about creating a flat canvas in an accessible location.
  • Strangely, there was only one object in the entire place that script dependent (a hedge near the bridge). The script didn't lead to anything, so it's probably inert, but I have a rule against deleting such things. Instead, I moved it just under the ground so it would not be physically in the way.
  • For the things that I made scrappable, I provided logically standardized raws.
  • If you have objects that are attached to Sanctuary housing, it will remain after you scrap the house. Poised aloft, defying gravity.
  • You would not believe how much immovable garbage litters Sanctuary. It wouldn't surprise me if you got a performance boost just using the mod.

Conflicts...
  • Since this is just the removal of things, this will not cause any conflicts. The game is now complete, so nothing that Bethesda puts out will influence it.
  • If another mod has added or replaced objects in Sanctuary, that could possibly conflict, but not in a way that would cause a crash (I have no scripts, nor did I touch any).

Credits...
  • Just me for this one. Pretty simple mod, so...
