Please uninstall all previous versions of this mod and install the new version (1.3.3) as soon as possible. The previous versions were broken. See the version history section for details.

If you use a settlement scrapping mod like Spring Cleaning by Nverjos, you're going to want to install this Spring Cleaning Compatibility Patch by VlitS since installing Leyla resets the Abernathy Farm settlement to vanilla scrapping capabilities.

Leyla is a recruitable standalone follower. She's very barebones with limited voiced dialogue (sourced from in-game files), but at the very least, she can fight. Good with ranged weapons, especially sniper rifles. Her combat style is based on MacCready and uses his sniper rifle, and comes with 40 .308 rounds to start.

This is technically my first mod. I simply made this upon a request, but I don't believe there should be any issues. If you would like a LooksMenu preset for Leyla, I've uploaded it here.


Ponytail Hairstykes by Azar v2.0 (You must install this mod before installing Leyla if you want her to have the custom hair)


You can find Leyla at Abernathy Farm beside the brahmin pen (where it should be).

To recruit her, simply talk to her and tell her to follow you. You can also dismiss her and move her to one of your settlements where she can work. You may re-hire her to follow you by simply talking to her again and telling her to follow you.


NMM Installation:
Just open it with NMM and enable it.

Manual Install:

• Save the file to your computer and open the archive. From the archive:
• Copy the "Leyla the Companion.esp" file into your local "/Fallout 4/Data/" folder.
• *Copy the contents of the "Sound/Voice/" folder into your local "/Fallout 4/Data/Sound/Voice" folder. You should be copying a single folder named "Leyla the Companion.esp" (the ".esp" is part of the folder name).
• *Copy the contents of the "scripts/Fragments/Quests/" folder into your local "/Fallout 4/Data/scripts/Fragments/Quests/" folder.
• *Copy the contents of the "scripts/Fragments/TopicInfos/" folder into your local "/Fallout 4/Data/scripts/Fragments/TopicInfos/" folder.
  

*If these folders do not exist in your game files, you must create them with the exact same folder names.

NMM Uninstall:
Right click "Leyla the Companion" on NMM and delete.

Manual Uninstall:

• Delete the "Leyla the Companion.esp" file in your local "/Fallout 4/Data/" folder.
• Go into your local "/Fallout 4/Data/Sound/Voice" folder and delete the folder named "Leyla the Companion.esp" (the ".esp" is part of the folder name).
• Go into your local "/Fallout 4/Data/scripts/Fragments/Quests/" folder and delete the file with the file name that starts with "QF_COMLeylaQuest_".
• Go into your local "/Fallout 4/Data/scripts/Fragments/TopicInfos/" folder and delete the file with the file name that starts with "TIF_COMLeylaQuest_".
  

I made this thanks to a helpful tutorial by Seddon4494 on youtube. It's also thanks to him that I sorted out several game-breaking bugs that were apparent in this mod.

I will use the knowledge I've gained in creating this companion to create others. Leyla is certainly not going to be the only companion I will release here. Stay tuned for more.

Bugs & Issues

• When installing with Mod Organizer, it may cause the application to crash. I recommend installing manually in these cases.

• Fixed a severe bug where Leyla couldn't exit power armour. She now has a dialogue option to exit a suit, just like other companions.
• Added idle dialogue! She will now occasionally say one-lines or hum while on your adventures.
