replaces vanilla death by respawning you at the last bed you slept at, for a price...

UPDATE 2.6: fixed a bug where you would not get teleported
UPDATE 2.5: Added the option to give all items you put in the chest to your killer, allowing you to retrieve your items by killing them (if you are fast enough). Also added some presets to make life a little easier.
UPDATE 2.0: JADE now has an options holotape to edit all values, so you can customize it to your liking. also, you can now choose to not lose your caps. If you want a different value than the ones I have preset, you can tell me and I will probably add them.
The main objective of this mod is to create an alternative to the (imo) horrible death system that Fallout 4 has. Because (almost) nobody likes reloading a save to do a whole dungeon again just because you triggered a mine on your way out.
Mod Description (and walktrough):
Most important thing to notice is that when you die, your player will not be ragdolling trough the air, but instead lay on the ground. This is becuase the player is now set as Essential. After a couple of seconds of bleeding out, however, you will be taken to a temporary holding cell. You will only be able to return to the living once you have given up some of your items. To come back you life, you have to get the total value of your inventory below a certain value (decided by your level). It does not matter how many items your keep, but only how much they are worth. For your convience, all your bottlecaps have already been removed and if you look in your inventory, youll have a inventory value counter where your bottlecaps would have been. get this value below the specified amount and you will be automatically returned to your bed.
What I hope this mod adds:
I hope this mod adds a bigger sense of danger when exploring. Instead of having wasted a little bit of time when you die and have to reload, you will instead lose your valuable items. But, it gives more options than just having all your items removed when you die. you can decide what you want to keep and what you throw away.
it also promotes the tactic of traveling light when adventuring. if you don't have much valuable items with you when you die, you might not even lose anything. But if you decide to take your whole armory with you, you will definitely pay for that.
Notes:
- If you die with an inventory that is worth less than the maximum amount, you will immediatly be returned to your bed
- The default inventory value is equal to 200 + 10 * your level. so level 1 will be able to keep 210 caps and a level 50 will be able to keep 700 caps worth of items.
- Fall damage won't trigger the death event, so the player is immune to fall damage (until I figure out a fix)
- Ammo has value too
- Recommended tactic: clear a dungeon before taking the valuable stuff. If you die, you will have to give pretty much everything you've looted.
- use the settings holotape to customize all values to your playstyle
Uninstall:
- Open settings holotape
- set player as unessential
- you can now remove the mod

I tried to remove as much bugs as possible, but changing a core system like this can cause weird things to happen. please let me know if you run into any problems.
