If you landed from high enough in power armor, regardless if the suit can survive the damage, the person inside's intensities and bones would be turned into liquid s#*! from the hydrostatic shock.
Thanks for the mod! Works perfectly. Using power armor that had a jump modification and thanks to you mod I can jump super high without having that awful impact every time!

Here's hoping this does exactly what is suggested, did most of a playthrough wishing I had something like this. My jump's turned up just enough (I love the idea of a power armor-powered leap that is inhuman by a long shot, but not too ridiculous) that every time I leave the ground I impact land. Want to slide across the top of a car? *BOOM* rooted, sprint cancelled. Get stuck on a fallen tree 8 inches tall and want to step over it? *BOOM* rooted, sprint cancelled. Want to hop over a little fence, maybe jump an 8-foot tall 250-foot wide hedge instead of going around it? *BOOM*, rooted, sprint cancelled, settler on the other side aggros and now everyone hates the *BOOMer*.
Ah how the Children of Atom would be alive if I had found this mod earlier. See, I've always found this sort of fall = blast silly even for batman. While travelling the Glowing Sea I get climbing up high with no rocket pack to carry a PA stealth field. One time I slipped off the cliff side. Fell down. Into the Children of Atom community. Close enough to one of them that the blast hurt them and the town went crazy. Killed them all. All. All over this silly fall = shock wave attack.
I like the idea, but I'd really prefer for it to be any fall >50ft, or so. I mean, sure, you can survive a 100ft drop because of hydraulics, good padding, and ummm, "REASONS", but you should still Wile E. Coyote that sucker a bit, and maybe even take a knee. ("Superhero landing. She's gonna do a superhero landing. Wait for it... Whoo! Superhero landing! You know, that's really hard on your knees." -Ryan Reynolds/Wade Wilson/Deadpool... take your pick.)
Pretty much... I'd do anything to not land with a frikkin' *BOOM* after hopping over a moss-covered wreck, or even a bloody downed telephone pole, but there's something about dropping off of a townhouse roof into the middle of a bunch of raiders that have NO IDEA how screwed they are, and watching them scatter as my steel suit comes back up to full height.
Sure, I feel ya. I'm not really a modder and I don't really do any of this for enjoyment or pleasure, I just wanted to share something I stumbled upon while finding a way to fix my issues with the super annoying power armor root effect. With the information provided in the description I'd imagine you could easily create exactly what you're talking about, because it's just speed and Z Axis checks against your character, so turning them up to like, say, double, would probably accomplish what you're describing.
The ones for power armor are annoying, but nowhere NEAR as annoying and debilitating as the ones OUTSIDE of power armor.
I mean the damn animation alone locks your controls for something like 3-5 seconds I swear! And it plays whenever you drop down from anything more than like 2 feet - I swear my character must have shins made of glass... T_T
I play almost exclusively in power armor at this point, but it would be fairly trivial to modify the same values for the root animations for non-PA stuff. When I have some time I'll look into that.
I spent most of today messing around in GECK and tracking down the "Is used by" right click context menu thingy.
The fucking landing impact thing has like 10 different names. It's not until you dig REALLY deep that you find the term "root" so you don't even know what you're looking for initially so you'd never look in animations unless you were really "in the know" about stuff like this and realized that the root effect and trigger for it was an animation rule and not a spell effect or some other fuckery. All in all I'm very satisfied with having figured it out. I'm sure people would like to have your changes too feel free to upload your own, idgaf about credit or anything.
OMG! Not only did this fix the annoying long-a$$ animation, but it also removed the ANNOYING AS F*CK companion lines related to taking fall damage as a VERY pleasant side effect.
I guess that were probably tied to the animation event types or something. I'd heard Cait say: "Jumping off that was pretty stupid if you ask me..." so many times that I just want to say "NO I DID NOT ASK YOU" and then sand off her face with a cheese grater and sew her lips shut...
I mean whoever wrote the companion quips for this game needs to pushed off a cliff... T_T
EDIT: Wait, nevermind, it didn't fix the lines... >_<
I have falling damage turned off as well, but it still plays a little "hurt" sound and flashes up my health bar when I fall far enough for it to be considered "fall damage" by the game. Wonder if there's a way to fix that too... Hmm.

Physics is a bitch.
Works perfectly so far

Still nice - thank you!
Wish I'd known a LOOONG time ago that it was THIS easy to fix this stuff... =.=
