It's been a while, so I decided to give this mod a major rework itself with the knowledge I've accrued.

-The original mod was never "percentage-based", it was a flat value just like vanilla. When I first made this mod, I had no idea it didn't work, so I've replaced it with just a straight flat value increase.

-To my understanding there was a bug in Survival where eating corpses wouldn't satiate hunger (perhaps at rank 3), and this may be due to the fact that at rank 3 I remove the script for the Dark Craving disease, which *is* your hunger being satiated. So instead I put that back and just made it so you dispel that immediately at rank 3. So you get the Dark Craving for just a moment so your hunger is satiated, but then it is immediately dispelled like the perk suggests.

-Weapon holster check is no longer optional. I feel that with the increase in the general health value (and to reduce clutter on this file), stopping to eat a corpse during combat needs to be more treacherous, so now you're obligated to put away your weapon if you want to eat a corpse, and make a tactical decision on if that's a good idea in your current situation or not.

Overall I think this is a much needed rework/overhaul to this mod, and I'm sorry that it took me 2 years to do it. Please enjoy the new version, and let me know of any issues you encounter. Thanks!

I made an adjustment in FO4Edit to add utility to cannibalism based on what I did with the Ring of Namira in Skyrim for Requiem. I cut the magnitude down by a factor of 10 (so 1.0 rather than 10.0, 2.0 rather than 20.0, 4.0 rather than 40.0- that is the health gained per second I believe), however I extended the duration heavily. I went with a duration of 21600 rather than 5 (so 6 game hours rather than 5 seconds). This is for a role-play aspect. I figure you should not be able too many people at once. The long duration means you get no benefit from trying to cannibalize multiple NPCs, and the low magnitude means you can't rely on it alone as a heal in tough combat- you still need other heals, but the long duration gives you a heal over time to slowly recover after, and it lasts a large part of the day. It has worked well that way in Skyrim, I still have not done more than test cannibalism I in Fallout. I also don't use Survival Mode, so not sure what the impact there would be.

Edit: Also looking up survival mode in the wiki being 6 hours, with dark craving making it 12 hours w/ debuffs you may want to have the duration to 21600 (60 sec x 60 min x 6 hours) to better fit, rather than the 36000 I suggested earlier based on what seemed good in Skyrim. Edited post.

I forgot to mention I also changed the descriptions to better match, or they seem out of place, since it no longer heals 50/100/200 over 5 seconds:

Feast on mortal flesh to satiate your hunger and slowly heal your wounds! While crouched, you can eat human corpses.

While crouched, you can now eat ghoul, super mutant, and human corpses to satiate hunger and heal your wounds.

Feasting on humans, ghouls, and super mutants will satiate hunger, and you now dispel the dark craving in survival.

I left the rate out of the description and tried to keep the length similar to the original in the mod. Those are cannibalism perk 1, 2, and 3 in that order. the duration and magnitude get changed in the spell. For anyone wanting to keep dark craving on cannibal 3 you can probably just delete effect #3 under cannibal03 as that looks to be the cure. Adding it to the other two on the other hand in xEdit would be more complex, reworking in the official tool might be better.

I know this reply is almost two years old, but this mod jut got an awesome 4.0 update and I'm definitely adding those changes to the mod in my list as well!

In the description part it is not emphasized much, but after installing this mod, the option for eating a corpse will only show up when crouched (as opposed to the vanilla functionality, where it shows up even while standing). At first I thought the mod was broken, but I just skipped over the relevant parts while quickly browsing over the description.

It is possible add other benefit when eaten dead body, like eat super mutant add strength, or eat ghoul resistant radiation.
In fallout 76 wendigo are resistant radiation and strong. Can you make the perk like wendigo?

i gave this a shot, and unfortunately it looks like there's no way to check for actor keywords on a corpse the player is eating when applying an effect, so it ended up not working out.

Really enjoying your mod. I'm pretty sure I tried most if not all of the cannibal perk mods and this one is my favorite by far.

If I may ask, would you consider adding an optional file which changes all 3 ranks of Cannibal to dispel Dark Craving ? When I was looking for a mod like yours, I stumbled across hundreds of requests from other people to remove Dark Craving entirely from Survival mode. I'm aware you could probably just use console to add rank 3 of Cannibal to your character straight away to get the desired effect, but this little change would keep the sense of progression and probably encourage more people to download the mod.

    Thanks for your work !

It works, but not entirely as described. While I do need to crouch to feed, I don't need to put my weapon away (holster it). Whether my weapon is holstered or not, as long as I crouch, I can feed.

This is intentional because I wanted to make it more like new vegas in which all you need to do to feed is crouch, I feel it's much less cumbersome than having to holster and/or crouch. Seems I forgot to update the mod page's description to match.

I know it's a long shot but would you be willing to add another perk level to add in Dine and Dash from NV? That way you could take some meat with you instead, if that's not something you'd be interested in doing I understand, there is another mod that does just that but I can't play without your changes lol

I wish you did not lock it to weapon drawn but to "in combat" or "not in combat". Putting away your weapon and re-equipping it again is SOO clumsy that it breaks it for me.

you don't need to unequip and then re-equip your weapon, you just need to holster it by holding down the reload key. I did this so that you can still eat in combat but not while you're trying to shoot something.
