Because Myron is so trustworthy and honest, and would never say something that could elevate his position as a chem producer. Alternatively, he figured out that brahmin farts are near identical to Jet, so he figured out how to process it so that he could claim ownership of the formula. Of course, that can't be, because then we might have to assume that Bethesda isn't evil idiots who is ruining Fallout.
But how? New Vegas is much, MUCH closer to the West Coast and so awfully far away from the East Coast. It makes much more sense for Jet having its recipe remembered by inhabitants of the Mojave Wasteland because they have obvious contact with the West Coast by way of NCR's expansion eastward. Again, it's absolutely not possible for Jet making its way to the East Coast, just because the recipe is remembered by those who live in the Mojave Wasteland.
Except there's really no clear evidence whatsoever that a trade route has been established that connect the West Coast with the East Coast..
From what I've read they only changed the names of the drugs, because it would promote druguse to players otherwise. The real names that was planned to use are names commonly known today but was'nt allowed, so they are only renamed them because of that, hence why you see them post-war in pre-war locations.
No, not period. Jet is found in Vault 95. As well as numerous other locations, which happen to be previously untouched by the post war commonwealth inhabitants. Regardless of what the lore says, Jet is not, or is no longer canonically a post war original product.
Yes but Bethesda never even wrote the original lore to Fallout. If they can't keep it consistent it shows a complete lack of regard for the source material, such callous behavior is morally abhorrent and when you get to how they treat the fanbase it makes it seem like they don't give the slightest f*#@ about Fallout as a fandom or all the blood sweat and tears that went into making the original products.
This is the kind of behavior people rag on companies like EA and Ubisoft for but when Bethesda does it its okay somehow.
Bethesda sucks because it's a company and as such exploits workers, but Jet was pre-war, there's even stuff in the old lore about it being popular in poor communities due to ease of making it and the happy rush, and about police brutality against people for possessing it.
This is great, Bethesda's mess up by making Jet a pre-war drug is a big immersion breaker for myself because i know it's true origin. I'm not sure if it would be possible to remove jet from pre-war installations, that would seem like the next step.
As I mentioned below, I am planning to fix some more rolebreaks in the future, but it will be a different mod, based on this article: https://steamcommunity.com/app/377160/discussions/0/458606877310719380/
OMG.. So many things they broke, this game should not be called Fallout anymore, I mean it can be fun, but it's lore unfriendly so much, so why name it FO4 in the first place? Call of Boston (or something like that) would be some alternative, plus it would not make many core Fallout fans that angry about sh**** at lore from Beth... But I guess ''Fallout'' means more $ and it's know from years. Thanks for this link and your work!
Jet was indeed a post-war invention. It was invented by Myron for New Reno's Mordino Family on Fallout 2, and it was pretty stupid to see it on east coast for starters. Also, don't let little Pete Hines see this mod, or else he'll have a heart attack.
I know, this was the main reason why I made the mod. There are theories however about Myron might be lying. Thats why I stated itas a possible lore break in the description.
This is correct but the thing is if the Fallout universe follows the logic of a shift of our own history then the pre-war amphetamine Inhalers would have been in use in that timeline too. This would have explain why Myron even has jet as an inhaler in the first place. That being said Bethesda missed a bigger opportunity here when you think about using the example from youtube conversation " If you think about if you were some post-war wasteland junkie could even tell the difference between pre-war "Happy Smoke" (amphetamine/meth) and Post-war "Jet" (Meth) would you even care?" and be even more on point imagne you the player walking in to vault 95 you find this terminal by a Dr. Reid's it mentions a few drugs that you've seen before but then it mentions one that you have not "Happy Smoke" Weird never seen that one before. So you look all over the vault you and all you find is jet no "Happy Smoke" then it hits and you realize it, and now that something never change.
There is a trade rout across the country called the "Jet Road" that goes all the way from the west to the east coast. It makes perfect sense that Jet is on the east coast.
Going by the canon timeline, Fallout 1 took place roughly 60 years after the war. Fallout 2 was 30-50 years later (long enough for at least 2-3 generations in order for the Chosen One to be the Lone Wanderer's "descendant" instead of just grandson or whatever). It's during the events of Fallout 2 that Jet is (supposedly) invented by Myron in New Reno. Though I question the little nerd creating the inhaler administration method. Of course he could just be recycling pre-war tech to make his job a little easier, who knows. But I digress.
Going by this timeline, Fallout 3-4 and New Vegas take place roughly 90-120 years later. The "jet road" dredlord45 mentions below is analogous to the "silk road" of the Middle Ages that connected Europe to Asia. The "silk road" was also known as the "opium road" because the two trades were closely linked. So the presence of Jet on the east coast does work chronologically in general as a popular chem among raiders and others since it is highly addictive and fairly easy to produce.
TL;DR Jet on the east coast in general works chronologically. Jet in pre-war locations such as vaults does not. And this is a long-winded way of saying I love the concept of your mod and will totally be downloading and endorsing.
