Unfortunately, there is a error in one of the material files for the new puddles in Nuka World. The only way to fix this is by adding an ESP. Hopefully this issue gets corrected by Beth or the UFO4P and when it does, I'll update my mod.
Nuke World Users: Remove the previous version and install the new one.
No Nuka World: Use version 1.0. It works for the main game and all of the other DLC.
not working. I have desperados overhaul and PRP. Very strange
edit: despite uninstalling EVERY other mod and trying EVERY mod that removes puddles, including this one, they won't go away >:( I'm at my wits end its so annoying. what could possibly be causing this? the engine /script extender mods that I put directly into the root folder? maybe an INI setting? I'm new to modding fallout, not that new to mo2, which is what I'm using. Any help would be appreciated!
SOLVED: I honestly am not super sure what it does but pasting bInvalidateOlderFiles=1 in [Archive] section of the fallout 4 ini did the trick!
I think this mod used to remove all fake puddles, but now some of them is still there, it seems. The ones in the roadside of Sanctuary are there, for example. The ones in the middle of the roads are not.
Edit: I've just confirmed (by going through all my mods *zzz*) that it is "Vivid Fallout" causing it - and it so happens that Hein84 actually made an optional file for their mod that fixes it.
This mod includes a blank texture file named PuddleDecal01_d You can copy and rename the file PuddleBloodDecal01_d to remove blood puddles Blood puddles do not disable with gore disabled
The files go in Data/textures/decal if manual installing I used 2 textures from this mod and puddles are gone I did copy and rename a file to remove blood puddles
I also did a copy rename to blank the freedom trail paint (not brick) FreedomTrailStripe01__d.dds and FreedomTrailStripe01_Short_d.dds in Data/Textures/landscape/road
Jep. In Downtown boston mainly. Seems, that it happens, the more puddels there were. outside boston, in the wastes, I had no problems. But after uninstalling, all problems were gone. Sad. I liked it...
That’s interesting. I hadn’t visited downtown Boston for a while and had installed a number of mods since my last visit. Suddenly found I was getting CTD way more than I had been downtown, couldn’t figure out why. In view of these comments, I will delete this mod and see if that cures the CTD.
Great shame as the environment was better off without the puddles.
It never occurred to me, until I downloaded this mod that a majority of the puddles I saw were face. I had always assumed that they were just like rain decals left on the road or something. This makes the game world so much more immersive with this change. Thank you.

The files are loose as i couldn't figure out how to pack them and still have them work in game. Advice appreciated.

If anyone is having these issues, you might want to try Fixed Flickering Puddles.Edit 30/4/23: that mod is gone, don't know why.
