Hi everyone, I was not expecting to make it onto hot files!
Ok, there are some serious limitations at the moment with this mod, Firstly I'd like to repeat that I wasn't going for 'realistic' tracers - especially for a game that uses lasers and cryolators, harpoon guns, radiation blasters and cannons in the same breath as 'regular' bullets. I was aiming for a visually pleasing way to turn the vanilla bullet which was an instant hit, weightless beam projetile with a smoke trail into something more visually impressive and also had physical properties such as speed and gravity
The main question everyone wants answered is if the tracers can be spaced out, once every three shots, or six. I'm sad to say I dont think it's possible as of now. The main limitation is that there is not a way to alternate the projectiles in the creation kit - so It's a game limitation. The only way I can think of getting around it is by some kind of script that tacks each actor and changes their projectile while they are firing. This is a) beyond my abilities b) would probably take a looot of CPU time, likely causing a drop in performance, especially in firefights. So regrettably until someone can find or present a soloution, this mod will retain a Battlefield 4 style with tracers every round rather than simulation level realism.
great, don´t wanna be without it anymore...adds more feeling to the game...especially when settlement-turrets start to fire and you know instantly where they are aiming...just helpful
I can't believe that nobody followed up with a mod or five connected to this mod. One of the most basic things in military assault ballistic weapons is the tracer round. *sigh* It's usually one out of every 6 or 7,depending on the rate of fire. Had to hand-load them once for 20mm...a lifetime ago.
Even today this mod works flawlessly. I've been comparing this mod with 'Vapor Trails and Tacers' and 'Weapons of Fate' and they all edit the same variables when it comes to showing tracers. 'Weapons of Fate' is expanded, with a bit more bling in it, but it is basically the same. 'Vapor Trails and Tracers' is exactly the same except it also adds the Railway Spikes as tracers go.
For those talking about bugs, this mod only edits one variable called 'Tracer Frequency' to 1 which means show a trace every time you fire. In vanilla it is set to 0, 1 and 4 depending on the gun. In vanilla the Minigun is set to 4, which means show one tracer for every four bullets. So basically, any graphical glitches or otherwise is not due to this mod or even 'Vapor Trails and Tracers' and can not be fixed by the authors. If there are graphical glitches and/or bugs it is either due to a) vanilla programming bugs or more likely b) other mods you have installed that have conflicts. This mod does not touch the Minigun projectile at all.
So TL;DR, this mod does exactly what it says on the tin and there is no need for the author to follow up on it. It is done, finished and works. If you want to check for yourself download FO4Edit (https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/2737/) and/or use the Creation Kit to check and you'll see.
I believe you are posting on the wrong comments section. The author of this mod clearly states the various changes made for this mod. This mod is not simple as you describe, and is also buggy.
However, another mod located here: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/14043?tab=files&file_id=55540 does exactly what you describe
Many shots do not register after installing this mod. Meaning, when you fire at the enemy, the bullet will not damage them, no matter what. Only happens when firing in real time, not while using VATS. Also tested on a separate machine I specifically use to troubleshoot broken mods. 100% clean Fallout 4 installation with only this single mod installed. Avoid.

Avoid.
