Mounsour Scaramanga, someone has stolen your prized possession!
Cool idea, looking forward to testing it out. Started a new game with new mods on survival to make things more interesting. This will be one of the first to test, once I find all the parts.
No, Gun Nut 2 is the minimum you need for the recipe to show up, but your Intelligence score also needs to be 3 or higher. If you're using ECO, the gun's recipe could have gotten shunted into the Weapon crafting category in ECO's Universal Workbench.
I have an update I've been working off and on for a while that lets you upgrade it to a silver PPK, then a golden PPK, but I've yet to fully finalize things. I'm ambivalent on making the Golden Gun's base form fire more than one shot because I'm a stickler for accuracy, and it fired only one shot in the movie and in the GoldenEye N64 video game. Being an OP novelty I think it being able to fire only one shot serves to at least somewhat balance it, but of course that would ultimately go out the window with the golden PPK.
I;m gunna tell u this an listen good, it already isnt the same golden gun cause the original didnt only fire one shot it was also completely useless after u fired it u would have to throw it away after cause if would be totally destroyed. plus this isnt 007 so u can make it do whatever u want u dont need to stick to the script. also i think the N64 version fired more then 1 shot
The N64 Golden Gun did fire only one shot, but it had a quick reload, so you could fire it reasonably fast, though not nearly as quickly as something with a larger clip size. I don't know where the idea of the gun getting totally destroyed after one shot is coming from, it wasn't a disposable weapon; Francisco Scaramanga used it multiple times throughout the Bond film The Man With the Golden Gun (which is where this gun originates from), and it didn't once blow itself apart or otherwise render itself non-functional.
And you are right, I can make it do whatever I want, and what I wanted was for it to be accurate to both the film it debuted in, and the GoldenEye 007 N64 game, so that's what I did.
Realistically the one shot would destroy the gun cause its not made out of stable materials, i wasnt basing it in the movie or the N64 game. an ok your right about it firing one shot in the N64 game but also realistically it would only be able to EVER fire one shot cause its a concealed weapon an would be to small to have a clip.
It can fire more than one shot, just not from a clip or magazine. It's a single-shot breechloader; the back part of the gun opens up to expose the chamber, where you can extract the casing and then insert a new bullet. Certainly not as fast as dropping a magazine and loading a fresh one in, and heaven help you during an intense firefight, but it could still be reloaded. And realistically, yeah, a gun made entirely out of gold would not make for the best gun, because not only would the general softness of gold likely result in firing it eroding the rifling over time, but it would likely only be able to take low-pressure rounds to make sure the thing doesn't blow up, and it would definitely be quite heavy. But, it's entirely possible the gun isn't made completely out of gold and is just gold plated, or is mostly made of gold but has steel components where it matters. That's just conjecture though, the whys and hows don't really matter at the end of the day when it comes to gameplay, since Fallout doesn't have weapon degradation and it's not exactly steeped in realism to begin with.
would be great if this gun was modifiable: bigger mag size, quick dual drum mag, full auto reciever, OP auto reciever, tactical lights, laser sight (increases accuracy), reload style.
For most any other gun, I'd agree, but not for this one. It's a high-powered novelty more than anything, not to mention given what it's based off of, the usual array of modifications would just sully it.
It could be the lighting of the environment you're in. With my screenshots you can see how in some angles it's paler, so if the lighting's harsh enough it could wash it out completely and make it look silver. That's my guess at least, since if it was a problem with the cubemap it would look weird in the inventory too.

Step 2) Find golden gun
Step 3) Decimate the map until your friend smashes his/or her controller
Step 4) Make new friends :(
