i cant even see the white canvas's in my game, installed via vortex and followed the instructions to a T. nothing new shows up in the paintings tab. uninstalled and reinstalled tons, no change. help?
This worked for me> Resize tab and select pixel, not percentage in "paint program" to sizes said on mod page then open gimp, open the canvases you want, drag and drop pics then for every pic select layers tab, merge down then overwrite as dds. After that you should be ready to rock n roll!
Landscape paintings are stretched vertically when imported.
After hours of testing I found out the correct aspect ratio to use when resizing, in order for painting to be as original.
This is for game resolution 1920 X 1080 (FullHD), and for original image of the same size (ingame screenshot, or any other image that is 1920x1080) There are other ways to repair the aspect ratio, but this one is without loosing quailty due to negative stretched. So some people are stretching horizontally, to match the vertical stretch, but by doing that you lose quality of image.
So you take your original 1920 X 1080 image, and RESIZE it to 1920 X 900 (this is positive stretch, and you won't lose quality) . (Remember, resize it, not crop. You will break image aspect ratio, but DW ingame will be fine). Then take what you get from that, and CROP it to the 1800 X 900, and that's it.
The resolution of mod's images are 512 X 256, but you can resize it to 1800 X 900, to fit what you get above.
I upped my canvases to 1K (so 1024x512 and 1024x1024 instead of 512x256 and 512x512) and have no crashes. Experimented a bit with the resolution of the texture, and 1K is already a noticeable improvement in quality, and performs well enough.
The only thing I feel lacking is "proper" tall portrait pictures. Looked into how the textures are assigned to the frames, and it shouldn't be too hard to just make a vertically stretched copy of the mesh.
This mod doesn't play nicely with Buffout. When I enabled both mods, it crashed as soon as the game loaded. But when I disabled Buffout, it didn't happen. Could someone tell me which setting in Buffout that caused CTD, so I could install both of the mod's?
1. Buffout is outdated for the NG Update, what u can see in the comments of the modpage. 2. Did you watch the video to optimize your pics ( from the desc. page) ? or did you just post your question without doing either of them?
1. I posted this before next gen patch and haven't done so. 2. Did you even read the entire question? I could load this mod optimized or not without Buffout. Even I compressed to 256x still crashed to desktop with Buffout installed.
I haven't done the NG update yet (not all my mods are there yet), use Buffout and it runs just fine. I even increase the texture to 1024x512 and 1024x1024 and it runs just fine. I have all options enabled in Buffout, except ArchiveLimit, BSTextureStreamerLocalHeap and MemoryManagerDebug
I was having issues also at first. I followed the instructions, put the file in my data folder and it still wasn't working until I also dragged the file into Vortex in the Mods tab where it says Drop Files. Now that it's there It has an orange triangle with an exclamation listed where the version number would be, but it works fine anyway. I hope this helps!
For those who still have problem with the crash when a custom is made, follow this instruction, it worked for me, I didnt try the mod but, instruction is good, when you'r in the post just reveale hidden contents.
i love the mod is posable to upgrade to larger picture file without upsetting the game? i am using 30 version but would like to go up to 50 if not 100 pack
Grab the folder for the pictures for you its 30 portrait and 30 landscape copy them somewhere else, remove mod and install the upgrade then go back to the blank pictures and paste back the ones you copîed.
I am having a issue where any painting I make crashes the game, I can load fallout 4 just fine, play the game, but whenever I go into the painting in the workshop, it will crash after a couple of seconds. I used gimp to edit all the canvases, here was the steps I did. I would open the canvas (Landscape or Portrait), paste the photo of my choice, resize it, merge the layers, overwrite the canvas with gimp. I tried redownloading and only dropping one of the canvases I made. But it would still crash and not show any of the custom paintings.
Same here. I know this mod works just fine because in my old computer it worked with absolutely no problems yet in my current state it CTD as soon I go into painting as well. I got rid of any potentially conflicting mods but that didn't change things. Worst case I just disable the mod though that's a shame.
Use Buffout crash logger and you'll see which painting is causing it, you probably didn't export it properly or layers missing. Using 500 paintings with no problem so far.

I even use SAM (screen screen menu) to make the images much larger, even cover entire walls. I'm not sure if there is a limit.
But if you have limited RAM, and horsepower, I'm sure it's possible you might crash.
