The new version isn't really a new version. I just fixed the name of the Cateye Addiction because I noticed it was wrong while making the video I put up. I also changed the name of Enhanced Cateye to Cateye - Enhanced. Let me know if I broke something somehow...
I am not trying to be disrespectful I am just saying the video,I don't see any light source but that could be an issue with darker nights preventing the light source from working?
Hey, I'm not sure if it's a bug or something on my end, so I'm bringing it up here. I find a lot of Cateye. A LOT. And very little of anything else, especially in containers. It's getting a wee bit ridiculous how much I have with how little say, Buffout or Jet I pick up. Any ideas?
It IS a good mod, and has my endorsement. Just wanted to voice my concerns.
Yeah, that's weird. I wonder if it somehow got added to the leveled lists multiple times. I don't find it any more frequently than any other chem, so that's the only thing I can think of that would cause this. Try resetting the mod through the settings holotape and waiting a couple of days. That should revert the leveled lists on which cateye appears and then repopulate them (hopefully) correctly. Sorry it took me so long to answer. I don't really look at this mod's page much anymore.
I remember looking for a mod like this months ago but i could never find it except for that mod that adds every chem from fallout new vegas, which the same as you, i wasn't interested in. So, thank you for releasing this! I missed this chem ;-;
Thank you for saying so. I think that it's a good mod, but it doesn't seem particularly useful in most modded or vanilla setups. Vanilla FO4 is just too bright to need this.
First thank you for doing this and doing this the right way I missed Cateye from NV and this works great. I also use darker nights and true storms and sometimes you can barely see 2 feet in front of you even with the pip-boy light on and on survival in those conditions running into more than 1 enemy is basically death.
And I really appreciate that you used the scripts to add it to the level list and have an item sorting patch and the settings tape is the icing on the cake . Aside from Kodiak412 comment below about the advanced name (which I edited in FO4Edit myself) really nothing to change in this.
I'm glad you like the mod. It's comments like these that make me feel like actually releasing my mods. They don't tend to get a whole lot of attention. Thank you.
Yeah I know it can be hard to get noticed I guess something like this is a bit of a specialized mod because a lot of people just use bethesda light defaults and the nights are basically a grey scale day so you don't need cateye
I even tried drumming you up a little support on Reddit a few days back https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/comments/52t3ur/fo4_cateye_in_the_commonwealth_not_my_mod_but/
P.S. if your taking requests would be nice if you could use that talent to make a simple mod that adds the DLC ammo to the commonwealth. There are other mods out their that do it but as far as I can tell they all alter the level lists instead of using a script to dynamically do it and they all also add the weapons to all the raiders and vendors and thats no fun and ruins the exploration of the new lands. Just the ammo is needed
I appreciate that. I suppose I could make a video of the effect like that one guy wanted. I was kind of disappointed that he acted like it's an image space adapter competition. Fadingsignal's response was typical. Big mods get attention.
Are there any ammo types you would want excluded? The way my script works, I think it would be trivial to do what you ask. I just need a list of ammo types and a list of the lvli that we would add them to. You just add the arrays of these items as properties and the script iterates through the lists. After that, it would be a matter of setting up an event for the addition of the ammo types. I'll take a look and see what I would have to do, but I think it wouldn't be difficult.
Well there are only 2 new types added the .45-70 from far harbor that the level action rifle uses and the 7.62mm from nuka world that the handmade rifle uses.
Basically just adding them to the to ammo boxes and vendors in the commonwealth would do. I made another post on reddit about it a while ago about how its silly that bethesda will give you legendary versions of DLC weapons before you go there and you have no ammo to use them until you visit. It also makes it so you don't have to keep going back to those places to get ammo if you already have finished the dlc.
Also apparently the scrounger perk doesn't include the dlc ammos either (not sure if you can script that one in though)
Like I said other mods have done this but I didn't find one that did it nice and not directly edit the level lists making compatibility issues or having to make merged patches (nexus is a big place though I might of missed it)
If you do decide to make it might I suggest in the description you make a big deal about the compatibility and that you don't need merged patches and all that might help
I'll look at doing it over the next little while. I need to update this mod because I found a bug in the name of the addiction while making a video of this mod. It's annoying to have to upload a new esp just for that, but I'll do it.
Just a little note if you do update this file again.
You should change the name of Enhanced Cateye to Cateye - Enhanced. This way all 3 of the drugs will line up in order when your searching through your inventory. Right now you have the 2 Cateyes lined up but the Enhanced Cateye version is separated from the group.
Again great addition to FO4 and thanks for creating this and posting it.
A little feedback for this mod. It really is a nice piece of work you did here. I love the mods that do specialized things and do them very well. This is one of those mods.
Being able to adjust the effect in the pipboy is outstanding. I use darker nights and still turned the effect down to 40%. I still like it dark but this just lets me see where I am walking and see what is up ahead. Then when you need the effect to go away, just pop a Cateye Away!
Only thing I noticed is that if I eat the Cateye Away the effect will be removed but the buff will still be there until it normally runs out. I do not know if this was your intention, but it did not bother me. In fact you might say it is a nice "feature". You lose the night vision, but keep the buff for a couple of minutes.
Yeah, I noticed that, and I'm still not sure if I want to change it. It wouldn't be difficult to do; I would just have to add the dispel effect for it to the CateyeAway. I kind of justified leaving it by telling myself that the CateyeAway only targets the pupils, and the chemicals that cause the other effects would remain in the bloodstream.
Does this include getting addicted to Cateye? My current game I don't use any drugs on my character other then the usual Rad-Away, Rad-X, and Stimpaks but Cateye might be an exception.
Yes, you can get addicted to Cateye. I spent a long time trying to get that to work. Also, the character I made it for didn't use any other drugs. If the addiction is a deterrent, I apologize.
