UPDATE: I fixed the file paths for both the 4K and 2K versions. I am truly sorry if you installed them via NMM or MO and the mod wasn't working correctly or working at all. I fixed it and you can download either version you want (I prefer the 4K version) and it will work for sure, i've tested it myself on my own copy.
i know this is an old mod but i am curious to why there is an ESP when the texture files are loose, you only need the ESP if you have the textures in a BA2 archive, or is there another reason for this ESP file to be present.
I am in love with this retexture as it really does make the holotapes look 200 years old with 0 care given to them. But at the same time, it now looks completely unplayable and that it might break whatever tries to read it. :P
I am going to assume you didn't read the description but I guess I'll go ahead and write it here as well.
I KNOW PLASTIC DOESN'T RUST. What i did was i turned the grey plastic disk into a metal disk because it fits pretty well and then i made that part rusty with rust damage seeping out onto the plastic slightly just to get that effect. Then the plastic parts are not rusty, they are weathered and chipped severely. the big brown spot to the right is not rust, that spot is where a big piece chipped off and underneath got effected by the weather and radiation.
Whoa, i don't think i'll put it into my Pip Boy now hahahaha But nice job, FO4 is so... cartoonish for me, original lighting and textures took out that 'abandoned', 'forgotten' and 'helpless' impression that i had while playing FO3. Everything in DC was hopeless haha
There are a few mods that enhance the rust, and even some that change the wntire landscape to something more 'torn' and 'ruined'. I prefer this way, over the green and full of vegetation ones hah
And yes, i can even think of the tape not geting out lol
Well I guess it's just the way I thought about it, the only thing that is rusty is the grey circle piece, cause I figured it would make sense for that part to be metal. But the rest of the holotape isn't rusty, it's just chipped and dirty. I can play around with it a bit more to see what I can make of it but yeah
I can tell where you're coming from though because the big brown spot on the tape (the one that isn't the metal disk) kinda looks like rust, that wasn't my intention though. I was trying to make it look like a big piece had chipped off and that dirt and weather had gotten to the underneath part
Yeah i'll mess around with it in my free time between work and school and the probably just add it as a separate main file just in case people like one over the other.
I was unaware that the 4k pipboy mode had a holotape retexture in it. I'm getting the original from a friend now and it will be uploaded when i'm done. Thank you for pointing it out.
Oooh, okay, that makes sense! Yeah, the holotape is an optional file I think, but I recognized it immediately. Please feel free to hide my comment so it's not confusing and cluttering up things once you're done.

Maybe, if you're willing to, ruin some more objects haha
The holotape always struck me as being made of plastic and other materials, not metal. (well, except the screws).
And plastic doesn't rust.
And I'm a trained metalworker that actually used to fix rust for a living
If you want some inspiration on how a plastic item like this weathers with age, look for old and worn 8 track tapes on google.
