IMPORTANT I just learned this. Well, relearned this (I've used this mod for years, but just now had to rebuild my game [got a new gaming laptop] and grabbed this essential mod). I could not see, or find, the Flags either for this mod. After reading a number of the earlier comments on this page (much earlier comments from 2017), one MUST BE THE GENERAL to have access to the flags.
So, for any having missing flags from this mod, become the General and they *should* become available.
I am game testing a new character (now level 2) so it will be a bit before I become the General and find out if I get flags then.
Hey I really love your mod, but for some reason I can’t seem to find anything under Deco-Wall-Signs. Also I can’t find the eagle under Deco-Misc, but the cannon is there. I have almost everything in the Posters except flags, but but i have signs and posters in the Posters Menu.
My point is that I would love to know if you could make SKE version of this mod for people that are using SKE, OCDecorator. Or at least make a standalone menu in the main menu of workbench. I mean as soon as you open the workbench there would be a new menu right on the end. And some sub-menus too. For example Signs- where every sign would be, then Posters menu where posters would be, Flags fir the flags and the rest in Misc
Building would be like: *Opens workshop* MMP-Flags etc. I hope you got it. English isnt my primary language and I might have messed up some sentences. Nonetheless, let me know if you would make the SKE or Standalone Workshop menu for your items!
I did a thing, transforming your "Come and take it" flag into a much more home-made affair. Use at your leasure if you like it: https://imgur.com/a/V7MCZE7
I'm two years late on this one, but as someone whose family fought for Texan independence I feel the need to explain (see how I worked that in there... smooth, huh). The phrase "Come and Take It" is associated with the Battle of Gonzales in 1835, which is generally considered the first battle of the Texas Revolution against Mexico. A Mexican commander demanded that the town of Gonzales give up their single cannon, and their response was "come and take it". They even made the flag with the cannon on it and hung it above the town in order to taunt the Mexican soldiers. It has since become symbolic of the attitude many Texans have towards authority. However, they were quoting an already famous response by American revolutionaries when the British demanded the surrender of Fort Morrison in 1778. So, the flag with the cannon is a Texas thing, yes, but the phrase itself is not.
The minutemen is modeled after the original US minutemen, which was a militia owned by the states and would behave much like the minutemen found ingame. So canonically it makes sense, but more the merrier.
Yeah... What shaneblob said, but also... The whole point is to be patriotic. It's a destroyed America, and they're trying to rebuild. Specifically the Commonwealth, aka MA, a state IN America where massively impactful and foundational events took place in the formative days of the USA (the parallels aren't just coincidental). The idea and presence of US patriotism is found throughout this game honestly.
I agree with 22aztek actually.. To a degree at least. The MM in FO4 are not american patriots, they fight for, and care only about making the commonwealth a safe place, NOT america. You want american patriotism, you'd want to bark up the Enclave tree.. You want to rebuild the american way of life, you might also want to bark at the NCR tree, but the commonwealth minutemen, are about the commonwealth, and only the commonwealth..
I too, would have loved to see more CW themed banter, but as its not my mod, I will take what the author gives, doesn't change though, that it would have been nice, without the "US-patriotic nonsense."
(Oh, and feel free to take pot-shots at my spelling or grammor if you'd like, im Danish and dont really care, as long as people can read me well enough, to understand what I mean.)
3 items, 3 mention America so who cares. And as others have pointed out the Minutemen are based on and inspired by the real version of themselves which is from yup, America, the game is based in Boston Massachusetts which is in America why would it not have America based "nonsense"? You join the Minutemen by finding them in a Museum with American History, in a town covered in American flag themed banners.....
Well if you got such a problem with US-Patriotism then your more than welcomed to make your own mod, canon-wise it fits with the Original Minutemen regardless of how you feel about it. Besides if you want to go full lore like, there's nothing stopping them to spread to other states after they get the Commonwealth back on its feet.
In EvilViking's Fallout 4 playthrough lore, his player character, General Dave, reshaped the Minutemen into an authoritarian military junta run mostly by General Dave.
Dave's personal Minutemen Empire makes heavy use of propaganda, promising the people of the Commonweath safety & order (a promise which he definitely fufilled in his playthrough), which in turn instills patriotism & loyalty in his citizens & troopers.
So yes, of course the contents in this mod has patriotic propaganda, because what else would an autocracy use to maintain the support of their citizens?
But even then, most if not all of the propaganda objects in this mod are generic enough to be used for many types of Minutemen playthroughs, be it democratic or autocratic.
As it's a sandbox single player role playing game, by definition, one can play and pursue any 'role' and context for it that they wish. For any reason or foundation they wish to adopt as motivation.
That said. The historical Minutemen by their charter we're not a 'Federal' force or part of any 'Command'. They were Friends, Family, Hunters, Farmers, Craftsmen and Merchants. United in cause to defend their homes which they knew were to be targets in any future conflicts. This exactly mirrors FO4's MM and their intention, but were more organized under a command structure. A command who's hubris within that structure and failure of Duty, resulted in their utter destruction down to the literal last man.
This most certainly mirrors the 'Leadership' we enjoy globally today.
In FO4 canon it is now believed the entire Nuclear exchange may have either been ignited by some kind of auto triggered first strike by the US, or some kind of false flag by a 3rd party, possibly involving aliens, to get the Superpowers to engage.
As far as the 'negative' Patriotism and anti-Communism, the FO4 'prewar' is intended as a parody of propaganda, social manipulation, assumed resource scarcity and possibly the adage 'Theres always someone bigger than you'. Aliens observing the abject hypocrisy and lack of ethics of the powerful over the weak, simply decide to start doing the same to the powerful, to make them weak. As one theory might go.
There is nothing negative about Patriotism in the country of your birth. Countries that maintain and promote a strong Patriotism for their people and governing systems thrive for centuries. All Govt. Systems seek to destroy that bond of Patriotism, if it exists, in other countries. In order to spread influence and destabilize. This is absolutely not in question as it has been proven repeatedly over history. Communists for the longest and to themselves as often as others, but also Capitalist and Islamist and all the other Govt. Systems which can be named. Because that's how sovereignty is ultimately maintained. To be able to define a people not simply by their geography but by the nature of their culture/society, and it's impact on other cultures/societies.
I could go on at length about FO4 'prewar' in comparison to reality
Either I've gone crazy or Bethesda has removed the ability to Comment on Mods on the thing they made for mods.
I've been playing on the Xbox Series S and noticed an interesting issue. Before I get into the issue, I love this mod, especially the decorative cannons and the waving flags.
The mod has a weird conflict with other mods that modify the castle. I currently have one that fixes the walls of the castle, but with the Moral Pack installed, it removes a chunk out of the Northern Wall of the Castle. Similar castle repairing mods, partially fix the wall, as the rubble can still be seen and the damage is still visible, but the wall is properly intact.

I love this mod! But I can't seem to find the flags and posters in the workshop menu?
Any help would be amazing.
Thanks
