Do You Feel  Lucky?

This mod adds a custom pistol to the game: the Roulette Revolver. The Revolver is extremely powerful, and can give you several powerful perks if you use it long enough, but it has one major catch: it can explode!


Massive Firepower

The Roulette Revolver is a heavily edited version of the .44 Revolver from the base game. It features a new, darker texture, with two decals on the grip, increased firing, reloading, and aiming speeds, 175(!) base damage, 25 base "bash" damage, and uses 45-70 Gov't rounds (from the Far Harbor DLC) instead of .44 rounds.

It can be found in a locked suitcase in the Irish Pride Shipyard building (see the Images tab if you can't find it).


Plentiful Perks

The Roulette Revolver is capable of rewarding the Player with five unique perks, called "Luck of the Draw" 1-5. Each perk is awarded after 10 kills with the Revolver, and each adds to your deadliness:
  • Rank 1--10% increase in your critical hit chance.
  • Rank 2--10% increase in your critical hit damage.
  • Rank 3--5% increase in your overall damage, with any weapon.
  • Rank 4--10% more experience per kill.
  • Rank 5--All weapons used by the player now deal 10 Fire damage (2 damage over 5 seconds).
After the fifth and final rank is unlocked, a three in-game day timer will start. At the end of the timer, you will lose all the perks, and have to start over.


A Game of Russian Roulette

The Roulette Revolver has a single, major flaw to help balance it out: each time you fire it (and hit something) it has a chance to explode! The Revolver comes with a script that adds a random number generator to it. The generator draws a number from 1 to 50 each time you shoot something. Depending on your Luck stat, it has either a 1:10 (Luck of 3 or below), 1:17 (Luck of 4-6), or 1:25 (Luck of 7 or above) chance of exploding every shot.

If the Revolver explodes, it is gone FOR GOOD. It will also cripple the Player's right arm, stagger them, deal them 75 damage, and add 1-6 negative perks, depending on what rank of "Luck of the Draw" they were on. Finally, it will add the Misc. item "Ruined Revolver" to the player's inventory.

Negative Perks:
  • Crippled Arm--Your right arm loses 50% of its base health, meaning it will be twice as easy for enemies to cripple it.
  • Out of Luck 1--10% decrease in your critical hit chance. Added if you had Rank 1 of "Luck of the Draw" when the revolver exploded.
  • Out of Luck 2--10% decrease in your critical hit damage. Added if you had Rank 2 of "Luck of the Draw" when the revolver exploded.
  • Out of Luck 3--5% decrease in your overall damage with any weapon. Added if you had Rank 3 of "Luck of the Draw" when the revolver exploded.
  • Out of Luck 4--10% less experience per kill. Added if you had Rank 4 of "Luck of the Draw" when the revolver exploded.
  • Out of Luck 5--All incoming attacks deal 10 fire damage (2 over 5 seconds) to the Player. Added if you had Rank 5 of "Luck of the Draw" when the revolver exploded.

Like the positive perks above, these negative perks will last for three in-game days before being removed from the Player.


Reforging The Revolver

Using the Ruined Revolver, along with a few bits of Adhesive, Oil, and Steel (and having at least 3 levels in the "Gun Nut" perk), you can fix the revolver bu using a Chemistry Bench. The fixed version is called "Reforged Revolver", has only slightly better stats than the vanilla .44 Revolver, no longer has a chance to explode, and no longer grants any perks--positive or negative. It basically exists so that those who like the retexture can continue using it, or put it on display, or whatever.
