3. Make sure Looks Menu is activated in your mod manager list.
4. Use the texture mods I listed, if you want to get the hair styles, colors, and facial features as shown.
5. Launch your game from the F4SE Loader to activate F4SE and these presets.
Looks Menu Compendium (LMC) contains most of the mods that I loaded and used as individual mods (except the eyes and Misc. Hairstyles). You can use LMC to make the face presets, but I have discovered one conflict with "Attractive Moles". For some reason the full face moles makes the Moles Huge. Just go to the Markings option in the "Extras" tab and uncheck Full Face Moles.I may get around to adding an LMC compatible version.
I have not been able to duplicate the distorted faces problem reported using Looks Menu. I have seen it occur in the vanilla game after making major changes to a face preset and then changing to a different face preset. It may occur here also, I just haven't been able to reproduce it. Likewise for the dark face issue. I haven't seen and don't know what could cause it.
UPDATE: I just learned about a fix for the dark face bug. It's a Bethesda problem, but here's the fix: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21907/? This update is outdated. It addressed the dark face problem associated with the Hi Res DLC from Bethesda. There are new problems since Bethesda released Fallouot4.exe v. 1.10.163 .
UPDATE: There seem to be a lot of issues since the v. 1.10.163 update. Quite a few compaints at the LooksMenu mod page. I haven't seen the dark face issue in a long time, but it's back. I don't have enough knowledge to address the problem completely. But this is what I said to Numbnumb below. It worked for me --
I suspect there may be problems with F4SE and Looks Menu since the latest Bethesda update (v. 1.10.163). I have seen the dark face problem twice myself. Also goofy things happening with the back of the neck. This is what I did to fix the problem: -- In one instance I simply exited the game and reloaded the save. Everything was fine. -- In the second instance that didn't work. I went into Looks Menu/Presets then reloaded the characters preset face and the problem went away. -- One other issue I've noticed: I'm doing a character named Janet with a bruised face. After a launch and load game, I noticed that her bruises were gone. I entered Looks Menu (slm [prid]) and clicked on her hair color, I think. Didn't change it, but her bruises suddenly re-appeared.
I have no idea what's going on, but I suspect that the latest Bethesda update has more interaction with LooksMenuCompendium and LooksMenu than previous updates. It's hard to say, but over the years they have made a number of changes that affect slm and vanilla characters. For example, you used to be able to modify Piper or Cait directly in game with slm. I can't do that anymore. Likewise with other un-namved characters. And for awhile you could change the face, but upon the next launch, that face would be hideously deformed. As I said, I don't understand these things. I just try to cope with all the wonderful improvements that Bethesda makes.
Why can't you select any of these presets just from the initial character creation? Why do you have to get into the game itself and use showracemenu? it seems convoluted when it doesn't have to be? Genuinely uncertain as to why you need to do this
A good question. But that's the way Looks Menu works. It uses the in game console function slm to modify npc's and slm/srm to modify the player character. To change faces/looks externally (pre-launch) or say at the "mirror" would be difficult. You would have to contact expired6978, the mod author, to request changes to Looks Menu. My mod only makes some presets to load into Looks Menu via F4SE.
a. At the "mirror". You would need to contact expired6978, to see if he could make the change to incorporate the presets at the "mirror" in game character creation. I have a feeling that it might be difficult to interweave Looks Menu with the game engine, but you could ask him/her.
b. External changes. To change character faces in the code, outside of the game could probably be done. Somewhere in the BA2 files, Cait's face or Nate's face exists. It could be modified there -- hard coded -- but it would take a lot of additional work. Perhaps that could be done using a loader for the preset files at game launch. I don't know. Expired chose to use F4SE in game because it gives you all of the slm tools plus the save option for your changes, and the big plus, Looks Menu also provides access to powerful additional tools like Looks Compendium.
c. I'm not experienced enough to know if there are other options.
Oh my, well thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll alert the media. Do you think I should take the mod down? Before I do that, could you be a little more specific? Perhaps I can help. I use these presets everyday. Apparently, 2000 plus people have enjoyed using the presets also. I suspect you have some clashes with other mods that are causing the problem. Presets are just data files -- unique data files and can't clash with other presets. The actual applications are F4SE and LooksMenu. Do other presets cause your computer to crash? Do you have problems with other F4SE plugins?
Heyo, amazing job with this mod I've seen very few other preset mods that can hold up to the same quality and stay consistent. I like several of the presets in the mod but the one that made me download this was Sheila, she looks so close to my Skyrim character. but when I click on the preset to use it my game CTDs, I've thoroughly followed the installation instructions and even got all the suggested mods (excl. Deep Spiritual Eyes since I have TEOB) so I really have no Idea what is causing the crashes.
No it's not laziness, it's just a pain to go through them all, swap to chrome to view the pictures, swap to the file browser to find it and delete, then repeat over and over.
From what you are describing about all that swapping, Blindo, and not sure why you are doing it that way but it sounds like the long way around. It's pretty easy to delete presets you don't want after installing any multiple preset mod:
A) Look at the images here posted by the mod authors, decide which one(s) you want--or--if you install it, use the char gen to see which ones you like (which is what I would recommend) B) Go to Program Files (X86)>Steam>steamapps>common>fallout4>data>F4SE>plugins>F4EE>presets C) Delete the ones you don't want
Sorry I can't immediately memorize what name is on what picture/preset. I, like many others, are unable to immediately memorize names and faces. I can remember faces pretty well, but names take quite a while to memorize, and on top of that, I have a learning deficiency which causes memorization of names to be a problem.
SO with all that, to delete the ones I don't want, I have to switch back and forth between the page and the folder to delete the ones I don't want. And I kinda have to load them all in cause quite a few look very different from the images here. Not trying to blame anyone in saying that cause it's most likely my looksmenu plugins.
It was just a simple request. Could have just said "No sorry." and that would have been it.
I have them sorted. Here: https://imgur.com/a/5vLfit4 This was not very hard to do. Picturesque Presets contains around 295 files compared to this mod's 55.
There seems to be a new problem. The black face is still in my game even after using the mod but now only the faces are darker but the back of the head and neck are very 'white'. I have tried everything to no avail. I'm led to believe that it is a problem with the program and not something players have done.

Most of the female presets crash when I try them, but after a bit of research I found out Looksmenu has been slightly broken by the game version and could be related to the clothing toggle issue (which also causes me to crash) just letting you know. But the male presets are working fine
Always make sure that you have the latest version of LooksMenu and F4SE. Every time Bethesda releases an update, the authors of those mods have to update as well. And silverlock.org and expired6978 are really good about it. They update their mods within a day or so of Bethesda updates. The male characters are pretty much vanilla in terms of hair, makeup and scars -- so fewer problems. The female characters are heavily dependent on LooksMenuCompendium. Clothing toggle? Well, I don't know about that one.
UPDATE: See my reply to Numbnumb on 31-Dec. That may help you.
I have followed the instructions exactly, and every time I try to use Looks Menu I still only have the 15 vanilla presets. The new presets just never appear anywhere and I have them in the correct folder as well. I have no idea what to do.
I have tried literally 19 times, it doesn't work on my game. And again, following the EXACT instructions given, double and triple checked to make sure I got it right. I don't know what else to do. I will be uninstalling the mod as I have just given up and made a halfway decent character. However much I'd like to use one of the presets.

1.F4SE and the Looks Menu are required. And be sure to launch your game using the F4SE Loader.
2. Install manually and make sure you have the F4SE Plugin Preset folder set up in your Data folder. Default location is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\Plugins\F4EE
Copy the json Preset files there.
3. Make sure Looks Menu is activated in your mod manager list.
4. Use the texture mods I listed, if you want to get the hair styles, colors, and facial features as shown.
