is there some way to make it not depend on luck, nothing is happening as I have high luck :( EDIT: I changed the "sleep on the floor" item to be just a luck -10 chem for 15s. For some reason, 2 out of 3 tries using the vanilla item, makes the game freeze/stop loading/working. So it is ok to me to do that, as I always have to use a bed (portable) anyway.
This mod deserves so much more attention.. How come I don't remember hearing about this mod? Oh wait, that's because actual original content on the Nexus is bogged down and overshadowed by all of the incessant, childish, and useless mods out there such as stupid troll and joke mods, exaggerated body and sex mods, character presets, face mods, save games, and etc. along with the broken content filtering system.
Anyway, this mod looks great and I'm glad I found it. I can't wait to try it out. I hope it still works.
the chances of encountering enemies when waking up are way too high so far it was about 90% any chance of lowering them ?
I guess this mod is not being in active development or I would ask for the possibility to have an interrupted sleep, meaning one sets 5h and wakes up after 3 with enemies around....
Being able to just sleep anywhere without being disturbed was always something that bugged me. Finding safe places to sleep should be just as much of a priority as food and water.
Does having a companion (especially Dogmeat) have an effect? Maybe you could increase the distance that enemies spawn if you have a companion? It could represent sleeping in shifts, and your companion waking you when they hear enemies approaching.
Currently companions do not have an effect. I'm testing this to see the current state of balance and how I should proceed. For instance, given the current weight of benefit for using mines and traps, would improving ambush situations through just having a companion be too overpowered? Especially considering companions will help you considerably during a Rude Awakening. Then there's the idea that companions have to sleep also. Ultimately it will be a balance decision.
I saw some unused references to sleep ambushes in the Creation Kit, so it seems that Bethesda thought about it but ended up not including it. The references are: LVLN: HardcorePlayerSleepLCharBugs LVLN: HardcorePlayerSleepLCharWildlife MESG: HardCorePlayerSleepInterruptMessage
The message reads "Your sleep is interrupted. Enemies may be nearby.", and the Wildlife list includes Yao Guai and Deathclaws. That sure would've been a rude awakening.
Settlements and owned beds are not foolproof safe, currently. If the surrounding area is dangerous, a Rude Awakening could occur. I'm going through playtesting right now to determine how exactly I should proceed. Feedback on this would appreciated. My current thoughts are that they should still happen, but certain situations should not only reduce their chances to occur, they should also alter the ambush to suit the settlement's defenses, if any.
no. i think its better if you didnt change it and make even more enemy ambush you from far away. make it like... while you are sleeping in your base, your enemy have plot against you to overwhelm you to kill you and take over your settlement. so they sent a lot of army to attack your settlement while you are asleep.
the only thing i want is they interrupt your sleep. meaning, they will not wait for you to wake up to attack you but it will attack you while you are sleeping. you plan to sleep for 7 hours but while only sleep for 3, they attack.
the only improvement you can make is to make a setting that change the range of engagement. like. with a partner or teammate of any kind, the enemy will be detect far from player. while a solo player will only awaken when the enemy are very closed.
I hear ya. I like the ideas. I won't tell you how I'll implement them, so there is still some surprise.
The companion thing will require playtesting for balance. I feel like companions are already very strong. I would rather the player's perception and agility change the distance that enemies spawn at.
can you get a rude awakening when using a sleeping bag from other mods like campsite or conquest? if those play nice together I will most like start using the mod immediately.

Thanks anyway, great mod.

@RedDog. I'll think strongly on it.

Thanks for the feedback.
If it doesn't, you could (most likely, easily) make a merged patch to fix it, given you have the knowledge to do so.
