Just tested a new save with this as the only mod. Works just fine. Problem is on your end.

Do vendors sell leveled hacking modules?
Part of me wants to go through a game without leveling skill tree's, and it would be interesting to be able to buy and use, and perhaps make leveled auto-hackers.

Nevermind, I ended up building it myself.
I ended up using pieces/parts of your design so I'll refrain from uploading it, unless it's OK with you that I do.

Hey, love this mod. The only thing is that the requirements to craft are too low for me. I think it would be good if the recipe required a military grade circuit board to craft, especially since the model uses that.

I'll give this a try, it seems logical that a hacker would write a hacking program, and besides, it's not like there aren't things already in the game like this with the issues of Total Hack giving you programs to hack turrets and the like. On that note it might be appropriate to make the model a holotape rather than a circuit board, but those are just my thoughts.

Personally it's not that I find the vanilla hacking system to be underwhelming, it's more that it doesn't make allot of sense to me they way it was executed, it's kind of inconsistent to where you think it should be one word, and you don't see how it could be any other password on the list, and the password you pick STILL turns out to be the wrong password, but then again, sometimes it turns out to be the RIGHT password. The other thing that didn't make allot of sense is, as you progress farther into the hacking perk, the earlier puzzles don't seem to become easier, I would have liked to have seen some kind of noticeable cumulative decrease in the amount of available words to choose from on terminals that were below your level of hacking skill, depending on how many points above that terminal's difficulty you were. But again, those are just my thoughts.

Anyway good concept. I already use a mod that messes with the perks a bit in an effort to balance them and I'm hoping this mod and that one will play nicely together.

As long as you put this mod lower in load order than the other perk mod they should work, you will just be using a slightly modified vanilla Hacker Perk. That is unless the other mod has other files that also require the changes they made to the Hacker Perk. You can always use FO4Edit to try to resolve any conflicts as well.

I thought about a holotape at first. But I liked the lore of a standalone "device" that burns up in the process of hacking the terminal. I just don't have the skills to make a model from scratch and none of the other vanilla models really felt "right".

Ah, well the way you decided to execute the device reminds me of a flash drive anyway, so that kind of makes sense.

The mod I'm using only makes the perks more accessible at earlier times, which is why I felt like these two mods might play nicely together.

I Used Hacking Evolved for a little, but it does too much for taste. But this seems well executed, great concept too!

Great Idea but unfortunately it didn't work. Crafted item, had the option Master [E} or hack [R] but pressing hack did not do anything.
Have master hacking perk. Still, reverted to the vanilla way and got in.
Shame, I will try it on other terminals as I go, maybe just a glitch on the one in vault 95.

Are you using version 2.1? I'm pretty sure any issues were sorted out as of version 2.1.

Yeah, I am still new to actually publishing my mods on here. It took me a few attempts to get the files right. It should be good now.

I like this concept. Looks like you can still use the regular hacking, if desired, which is good. I currently use Easier Hacking With Options to make hacking screens only have 8 words. This seemed like a good balance, since I still had to do the hacking thing, but typically there are enough brackets to get that down to 3-4 possibilities. That makes hacking not such a burden. But even with that, the hacking mini-game feels very disconnected from the rest of the game. Even lockpicking doesn't feel as disconnected as hacking. So, with this, if it works as advertised, one could craft a bunch of these items and bypass it. But based on the description, looks like it uses rare enough components to not trivialize it.

Nice work. Will be testing this out later.

I've been using some of your mods and am very impressed. I'm quite the amateur modder compared to you. If you do give this a whirl and have some feedback I would greatly appreciate it.
