What to do while waiting out my first rad storm in a new game? Look for a way to make Dog Meat, not a companion! I think this mod just might do the trick.

Works like a charm, so far no bugs that I can see have occurred. Now Dogmeat will be part of the crew forever!

Does this mod have the same problem as the other, where companions will fall from the sky when fast traveling? If not I might actually prefer this version.

Also sometimes Valdacil's mod makes dogmeat do strange things...in terms of deciding how to move.

Hum, not sure companions falling from the sky is caused by any mods, I had this happening in Vanilla.

About Dogmeat doing strange things, that would just happen if Valdacyl modified anything other than the dismissing hooks, something I cannot afirm.

This mods changes only the dismissing of dogmeat when a companion is selected.

I respect him as an author, but I have to admit that his Dogmeat mod just simply didn't work for me. I'm pretty sure it's because his mod aims to do a lot more than this one. And at the time of this writing, it's got 32 reported bugs that have yet to be addressed, which is concerning.

But with this mod by arathorn2nd, it's just a small script file and as a famous guy once said: "It just works!" Upon installing the mod it immediately worked and so far I haven't had any hiccups with Dogmeat or my secondary companion, or the follower system itself.

Sounds like good news. I'm a little skeptical when it comes to mods that change follower behavior like this, but the other more popular mod has a ton of bug reports while this one has none. I'll be giving it a try soon.

Warning: using this mod breaks my Dogmeat, he would not talk or follow me, just stands there doing nothing.

You should note that this mod is mutually exclusive with both Dogmeat is Everyone's Friend and Unlimited Companions.

It really is the same thing but a lot of modders end up making these mods for themselves to either try modding for the first time, try a new idea, for personal use, etc but end up deciding to share it with everyone else. So sometimes this leads to duplicate mods showing up. I see this as arathorn2nd making this for personal use and deciding to share it.

Looking at his files this is also his very first upload so probably him/her getting their "feet wet" in the modding community.

Embrace the diversity. Every modder may achieve the same resulet in a bit different way. One has problems with one mod, but another works fine, though both should make the same changes. So, i welcome many mods, doing basicly the same.

Also, when mods achieve the same result from different methods, it can help with conflicts.

If Mod A is causing conflicts with another mod in your loadorder, try Mod B.

I'm not a fan of duplicate mods as it clutters the nexus with the same thing over and over again ...
