I may look into adjusting the walk speed to robots and other types of creatures if they are companion capable - will see if there is a strong desire of that.
Edit: uploaded another version. This one changes the walk speed of vanilla companion types. This will probably affect non companion versions in the wild as well.
* v 1.1 fixed an issue where you would "run" faster while crouched and aiming down sights. * v 1.2 noticed in "Boston After Dark" a certain NPC would remain in a speed mode that wasn't covered by the MT files this mod originally modded. The NPC now runs at normal speed. * v 1.3 went through all packages and changed flag settings to either walk or run (no fast walk or jog bs), new versions include all DLC's or just the main game, companions or no companions.
Note: I accidentally used the companion version to start the DLC edits. This meant that to avoid redoing all of the work and spend more time, I used this esp to make the no companion version (had to edit the companion files back to their vanilla numbers).
Note: Ran into a similar issue with Jack Cabott... digging through more files, it appears there are many packaged files in the game (centered around quests) that tell the npc to move at a "fast walk" or "jog" which the MT files don't cover. I tried changing the gameplay settings but noticed performance hits when enemy is aggroed around the player.
This means, I'm going to have to dig through all of the files and manually edit the package files and thats going to take a lot of time. Look to an update sometime in the next week or two.
I may have to adjust some speeds for other AI package files to change from jog to run (normally noticeable in player escort files). Feedback welcomed so I can address, otherwise I will address them when I encounter them. Done.
I don't know if this is a bug or not but I noticed that you move slightly faster in 3rd person than 1st person. Otherwise, a great immersive mod that makes you run in proportion as a human would to the scale of the world/buildings.
I am wondering if you could help me. I am trying to make an NPC "walk only". I can't seem to achieve this. I've tried to over encumber them...doesn't work. I want to disable their ability to run. If this ends up affecting every NPC by doing so, that's fine if it works. I would also want the run animation gone.
I appreciate your help and time and hope someone can help me with this.
This might be a tad late but if you go into the creation kit and under movement types you can find the records for NPC's. Probably could set all run speeds to 0 or something. Be careful though, NPC Sighted affects the player as well.
How do you think, is that so necessary, to change "Character -> Movement Type", or changing "SpeedMult" for any NPC/Race will be enough? I think it will be OK with "SpeedMult" 70-80 for humanoids, 100 for companions (sure for Piper) and 75-80 for Player (via console).
And another question - is this mod applied only to "Player, PA, NPC, aliens and Super Mutants", or to something alse? I prefer to do everything myself, if I can. I already copied (to notepad) from this mod "Player_", "NPC_" and "PowerArmor_".
Love the idea, this has always driven me nuts. I assumed they set the walk speed for NPCs lower in an attempt to allow more time for dialogue. However, is it possible to only affect the players walk speed, while leaving run and sprint speeds untouched? This would naturally mean that in scenes where you are running with an NPC you will outpace them, but thats alright by me.
I'll look into doing this. I have a few projects atm and will try to get something out by the end of the weekend (I learned how to use the fomod so I'll try to incorporate a clean installer).
I'm always amazed at how many people are satisfied with vanilla movement speeds. I realize Bethesda is trying to find a balance between realism and convenience but it's always driven me a little nuts how you can jog everywhere without ever tiring. Sure, having to slow down and walk when you ran out of stamina in Morrowind could be somewhat annoying but at least it was realistic!
But I digress. This is probably the most realistic movement mod out right now. Running and walking seem much more natural. Has this also adjusted sneaking? I noticed that my sneak movement is slower. That's great if that's the case - I've always found the 'run' sneaking too fast.
I feel like an idiot asking this, but I'm a bit unclear on what this does—is the player character walk speed increased or decreased? I tested it in the game (the non-companion version) and couldn't really see a difference.
I'm interested in the mod because I don't use fast travel but I don't really like running everywhere. What I'm hoping to find is a mod that gives the PC a brisk walk that's suitable for navigating the map rather than the trade-caravan speed she has now.
I made this adjustment for the walk speed. They were all kinds of different speeds. I personally wanted a walk speed to match NPC when you have to follow them. You always walked too slow or ran too fast.
The run speeds weren't messed with too much, just a smidgen. To me, it felt more "immersive" with the new values I placed.
Walk speeds are the focus with slight adjustments to run/sprint.

I have been thinking about this mod lately and seeing if there is anything I need to update or change so any feedback is greatly appreciated.
Edit: the sneaking was indeed edited.
