Guard Posts
In vanilla, guard posts cannot be snapped to floorings, only certain floorings can only be snapped to guard posts. Now guard posts can be snapped to all floorings. Two options are available, guard post basic snapping and advanced snapping. Basic snapping snaps guard posts to all floorings. Advanced snapping snaps guard posts to all floorings and one another.
Advanced snapping snaps guard posts to one another in two ways, side by side and at 90 degree angles. Guard posts are snapped at 90 degree angles as if they were snapped to flooring.
Certain limitations are imposed on the guard post basic snapping and advanced snapping meshes by the vanilla snapping system. These limitations are bypassed by the guard post .ESP file. Please see the limitations section below for further details, thanks.
Bridges
In vanilla, bridges only snap together lengthways and do not snap to any floorings or railings. Now bridges snap together in many additional ways, including stacking. Bridges also now snap to all floorings.
Railings
In vanilla, railings only snap to floorings. Now, while using the bridge mesh and bridges & railings .ESP file, railings snap to bridges. Additionally, if you're using the railing advanced snapping option, railings will snap to one another in two ways, side by side and at 90 degree angles.
Note: The .ESP file is only required for the bridge mesh. This is because without the .ESP file bridges will struggle to snap together and railings will not be able to snap to bridges, despite having the appropriate snap nodes. This is due to the intersection required when snapping bridges to bridges and railings to bridges. Therefore the railing advanced snapping mesh can be used without the bridge mesh and the required .ESP file.
Compatibility
This mod is compatible with all of the current DLC. This mod does not require any of the current DLC. The current DLC include:
- Automatron
- Far Harbor
- Wasteland Workshop
Limitations - Fixed by the Optional Guard Post .ESP File
Basic snapping will not allow you to snap guard posts to any flooring that already has flooring either side of it with a guard post snapped to it. This does not apply to corners. This limitation does not affect advanced snapping.
A demonstration of this limitation in-game:
Basic snapping and advanced snapping will not allow you to snap guard posts to any flooring that already has flooring both sides of it with guard posts snapped to them. This does not apply to corners.

Limitations - Inherent to the Game
Snapping bridges to bridges, railings to bridges, and railings to railings can become quite finicky under certain circumstances. Snapping bridges to bridges can become finicky when there are a large number of bridges in the local area, especially when stacking them. Snapping railings to bridges can become finicky when there are a large number of bridges in the local area, given that they can snap to the boundaries between any two bridges that have been snapped together. Snapping railings to railings can become finicky when using the required bridges & railings .ESP file and there are a large number of railings in the local area.
The required bridges & railings .ESP file increases the games tolerance for intersections involving bridges and railings. Given that railings already have small collision meshes, these tweaks allow for railings to snap into themselves, when a snap node prompts it. This should only be an issue when a large number of railings have been snapped together in a small area, and even then it's not much of an issue.
It was my original intention to add additional angles at which guard posts can snap to one another (when using advanced snapping). However, any additional angles I add become very hard to snap to. For instance guard posts would only snap to 45 degree angles if I stood under them at a particular angle. Additional snap nodes also make snapping more finicky, so I chose to limit advanced snapping to what I did.
