Survival Medkits

This mod seeks to make Survival mode feel more like Fallout: New Vegas' Hardcore mode, by changing one of the main healing elements of the game.


Medkits


This mod adds a new healing item, the Medkit. Medkits are based off of the Doctor's Bags from Fallout: New Vegas, and like them heal all broken limbs when used. On top of that, Medkits also heal the same amount of health as a Stimpak (and, like Stimpaks, will heal more health if you have the proper perks and bobbleheads) and cures all current illnesses. Medkits weigh two pounds, and sell for the same price as Stimpaks. Medkits can only be found, bought, or crafted if you're playing on Survival difficulty, so you won't be seeing them if you're playing on regular.


Stimpaks

"But why do we need Medkits, when Stimpaks in Fallout 4 already heal your limbs?" Good question! Another feature of this mod is that Stimpaks no longer heal broken limbs if you're in Survival mode! They will still heal your broken limbs on all the regular difficulty levels, and they will still heal your companion's limbs even on Survival (an issue encountered in a few similar mods). I also removed the "thirst" modifier from the Stimpaks, since I figured that if all they're doing now is restoring health, they shouldn't have a major downside like increasing your fatigue.


Leveled List Intigration

The Medkits have been added to several leveled lists, so you'll be able to find them at a variety of locations:
  • Can be found in Medical loot containers
  • Can be found in "Advanced" or higher locked containers
  • Can be bought from Doctors and Medical vendors
  • Can be bought from certain General vendors
  • Can be looted off of certain Raider- and Ghoul-class enemies



Crafting

You can also craft Medkits at any Chemisty Station. You will have to have at least one level in the "Chemist" perk, as well as the following ingredients:
  • 1 Stimpak
  • 1 Antibiotics
  • 3 Plastic
  • 4 Steel
  • 4 Wood
  • 5 Cloth
  • 5 Rubber


Survival Help Integration

The mod also updates the "Survival" section of the "Help" menu to mention Medkits and their effects, as well as mention that crippled limbs can't be healed with Stimpaks anymore. It also adds a loading screen that has a small chance of appearing when you're on Survival difficulty that features a picture of a medkit and a short tip on using them.
