Look, I really love this MOD, but alot of times I can not get it to work. No scraps, no milk, no animal parts when I kill an animal. I would like the recipe for the lye and the charcoal kiln. The MOD works sometimes and a lot of times it does not.
1) where does one obtain "non-potable water" 2) what is the recipe for the lye maker. Part of it is obscured 3) Where does one obtain the worms for the worm farm?
Also, how do I acquire animal biproducts, like antlers and hooves. They are listed in the various menus, but I can't find them in the inventories of Radstags, Molerats or Brahmin.
I believe you must first craft a hunting knife before any special animal byproducts and choice cuts of meats become available. You have to find the homestead magazine which allows you to do this first however.
Also some of these animal biproducts and choice cuts of meat (radstad flank, steak etc) can be bought at the DC butchers. And possibly traders around the commonwealth as well like Trashcan Carla. Haven't confirmed the traders yet though.
I have no idea what's going on. I can get the animal byproducts, but not milk. And despite reinstalling the mod, I still have a purple texture for the canned Mutfruit slices.
did you use NMM or install manually? You might have an incorrect install. If not then I'll summarize:
milk cow: have emply milk bottle in your inventory. Stand/crouch next to a brahmin and press the use key. On PC this is the default "E" key. This should fill the bottle with unpasteurized milk. You can pasteurize it at a stove/firepit. Or drink the raw milk and likely contract a disease
Sounds like you invalidated based on what you said in the ini so nothing extra needs to be done there. You shouldn't have any purple retextures. I don't in my game as heads up
On the animal parts you get when the hunting knife is in your inventory: note that until this mod is updated, you can't cook any of these in recipies. Also
On the smoker appliance: Until this mod is updated, you can only smoke brahmin and mole rat meat into corresponding jerky. Put the raw meats into the smoker cabinet, look away briefly and move your cursor back over the smoker. You will see that it indicates "locked" which tells you the meats are currently being smoked. This will require 12 game hours to create the jerky however.
Thanks for the info. I have installed this mod both manually and through NMM, both methods still appear to incorrectly path the mods texture files. I don't think this can be fixed, but thanks for you help Alaric (you better get back to sacking Rome.)
The canned mutfruit texture file is mislabeled. Mine worked after I corrected the spelling error. As for the milk, I found it in my scrap bucket after brahmin appeared in my settlement. Hope this helps.
Need to report a potential glitch. A couple crafting items appear to require Issue No 2 of the Homsteader Gear guide. However, no such mention of this 2nd guide exists anywhere in the change log, or readme.txt or on the mod's front description page? All the other items like the smoker unlock and work just fine as they should. The first magazine is where it should be in Sanctuary. But the location of where the 2nd one is missing?
Instead of a distillery, shouldn't this be a dairy themed ice creamery shop instead? Where Commonwealth and Wasteland denizens will visit from far and wide to experience the most exquisite frappes, milkshakes, zesty cheeses, brain fungus-freeze ice creams, sweetest creamiest bramin butters etc etc.?
Can't think of any alcoholic beverages that had dairy in it. Then again, Kahlua & Cream and Irish Moss/Irish Moss Creme drinks are the closest to this come to think of it lol
get an empty milk bottle, approach a brahmin and press the use key to milk it. This is based on a chance probability, so you won't always be successful in milking a bramin
this will give you unpasteurized milk which you can drink directly (highly un-recommended as you'll probably catch a disease). Cook the unpasteurized milk on a stove/fire pit to make regular milk that you can drink or use in other food recipes.
Check out the readme file that comes with this mod. It will answer all of your questions.
It's little immersive mods like these which make the Fallout universe such a joy to play
Was able to download but don't have the chance to play test this mod yet. So a quick clarification:
On the smoker, if this takes the advertised 12 game hours? to process the meat, will this cook time be synchronized with fast travel times? i.e. if you turn on smoker fast travel to Abernathy Farm for several hours and back UNDER the 12hr time limit, will the smoker still be processing the food?
Or will cooking it just be expedited/updated from raw to being smoked/processed if the PC leaves and immediately returns to the cell? Does the same thing happen if the PC travels far away from the cell and back with no fast travel? ie returning from an exterior cell like Coventry on foot before the 12hr time limit?

You're missing textures or old textures need to be refreshed. Try setting this to true in your .ini file: bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
Or the mod itself may have been improperly installed. Did you use NMM or install manually?
The other thing is that the texture itself may be missing? from the actual download. But that is a very low probability.
