    Possible fix for
    Flashing shadows/lighting
    Probably caused by forced removal of shadows.
    find and edit these lines
    But will give you a UFO like shadow above your character.

    fShadowBiasScale=1.0000 to 0
    iShadowMapResolution=1 to 0
    iShadowMapResolution=1 to 0
    iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=1 to 0
    iTiledLightingMinLights=20 to default 40
    Dont forget to set it to read-only after.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    People with controllers, if your controllers stop working after overwriting ini files,
    look for bGamepadEnable=0 in fallout 4 prefs
    set to 1 then save,
    set to read-only after.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    If you are experiencing CTDs just edit this line
    iDirShadowSplits=0 to 1 - 2

    Thanks to haroldbawls for finding out the cause.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

    No longer updating. stick with v2 and edit those lines above.
    Not updating anymore since theres really nothing big to update.
    so one last thing.
    This guy found a way to turn off shadow.
    Setting iShadowMapResolution to 0 may cause CTD, and value 1 doesn't remove the shadow.
    So instead of that set iShadowMapResolution=-1, he says.

    Source -http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/468/?

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    Apparently the iShadowMapResolution=-1 does not disable shadows completely.
    but gives you a huge shadow around your character like an umbrella.
    So if you dont want to feel like a UFO is above you edit these lines.

    Fallout4prefs.ini
    fShadowBiasScale=0.1100
    iShadowMapResolution=128
    fDirShadowDistance=3000.0000,
    fShadowDistance=1000.0000

    Fallout4.ini
    fShadowLODMaxStartFade=1000.0
    iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=128

    Gives you blocky shadows but probably same FPS increase.

      Hey man.
      The flashing is gone but now there is a shadowy area around my character permanently wherever I move.
      Any idea why?

      yep this fixes the lights or shadows freaking out stops fallout looking like a rave. it dose make you have shadow circle around you like an opposite to a spot light but this is easily ignored and its less noticeable in 1st person.

      Yeah its an engine bug.
      like i said shadows aren't supposed to be turned off..
      unless we get an esp modifying those things.

      Game crashes on start up with the new settings you just uploaded. Ones before, though flashing, worked

      Same here as imightbewrong, game crashes on loading screen with v3, v2 works when editing the lines but with permanent cloud above.

      If you want to remove the cloud around you set these lines,

      iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=0 to 8
      fShadowBiasScale=0.0000 to 1.0000
      iShadowMapResolution=0 to 8
      fDirShadowDistance=0.0000 to 1
      fShadowDistance=0.0000 to 1

      But you will get low res shadows rendering this time.

      it will reduce the glowing on the objects. When turn off the shadow, these objects would not be covered in the shadow then they glowing up make your eyes hurt :v so i consider increasing the DirshadowDistance to higher than the glowing side

      Hey man I did some check on that mod that "disabled" the shadows, and they didn't actually disabled them, it's just did what you did but then expanded the shadow circle around the character to infinity.
      Have you noticed you don't get sunny days anymore? Well, I noticed around 3pm ingame that there where no clouds and the sun was opaque. It's because of it, so instead I propose something a bit less radical:
      Fallout4Prefs.ini
      fShadowBiasScale=0.1100
      iShadowMapResolution=128
      fDirShadowDistance=3000.0000,
      fShadowDistance=1000.0000

      Fallout4.ini
      fShadowLODMaxStartFade=1000.0
      iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=128

      You will get blocky shadows but the boost in FPS is about the same but smoother than the supposed "shadow disabling" settings.

      Yeah, i did notice lighting changed like sht,
      I restored my shadows to the normal settings and just left the other tweaks.
      You'll still get an FPS increase.
      I also have set this line fShadowDistance=1000.0000 to 500. So its not too much for my GPU.

      Good find
      better blocky shadows than eternal darkness.
      anyone whos hating the lighting changes,
      edit the lines provided above this post.

      oh wait hey, what happened if we reduce the Shadow distance and Dirshadow distance to lower value?

    Hello, I have a problem, does anyone know how to solve it? While I'm outdoors, I can aim without problems, my fps remain stable and everything goes smoothly, BUT when I enter indoor maps, my fps go down the drain, I can't even aim because of how slow everything gets. Please help. Ty

    First of all big thanks to all mod makers

    I have 'below minimum specs pc'. Still wanted to play the game on my potato. Managed to do run it with the help of this mod and few others. Game looks ugly but it works reasonably fine even in the biggest city grids. (east of diamond city etc). There are still some occasional hic ups(few sec wait times) in big cities when i'm loading new grid/area or when sun position updates and forces shadow being recalculated. But the game is playable and currently I'm level 43 or so.

    Here are my specs:
    CPU: Phenom II 955 x4 3,2ghz
    RAM: 4GB DDR2 (800mhz)
    GPU: AMD Radeon 7670 1GB (rebranded 6670)

    Here are the mods that I use:

    1. Fallout 4 (For Low End PCs Tweaks and More FPS) by JigsM:
    http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/129

    2. Fallout 4 - Texture Optimization Project by torcher
    http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/978

    3. Wasteland 512 Textures by Darth Animal (install this one after mod #2 and overwrite files as this mod replaces textures to lower ones than #2)
    http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/606

    4. Cruz's Last Resort - Performance Enhancer by Cruzifixio (install this one after #2 and #3. I'm not sure if I had to overwrite some files with this mod but just to be sure it works..)
    http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/275

    5. Time Scale and Fast Travel Adjustment by Cappysor (timescale is important as it makes sun move slower on the sky and makes game draw/refresh shadows a lot less.)
    http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/657

    Some random stuff I had to do in .ini files to make game run:
    If you get blackscreen/crash when running the game with the .ini tweak file. Change your windows resolution to whatever you set it to be in game. For me whenever I tried running fallout 4 with different resolution than my windows one the game just hanged at black screen. This fixes it.
    Fix #2:
    bBorderless=1
    with bBorderless=0 I had fallout 4 weirdly moved outside my screen a bit.

    After installing all the mods don't forget to change(fallout4.ini):
    sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\
    into
    sResourceDataDirsFinal=STRINGS\, TEXTURES\, MUSIC\, SOUND\, INTERFACE\, MESHES\, PROGRAMS\, MATERIALS\, LODSETTINGS\, VIS\, MISC\, SCRIPTS\, SHADERSFX\,

    IMPORTANT:
    Set both .ini files(in properties) to 'read only' or fallout will overwrite the files.

    Hopefully this post will help some other potato pc users like me to play the game

    PS. There is console command tg that toggles grass on/off. Have to use it every time you boot the game up though.

      I didnt play Fo4 yet but i think you can use "teofis" command to increase performance too, it works for me in skyrim, it just removes the color filter used in the game, the result is just a small change in colors, after a while you will forget that you are using it and it should help fps for below spec rigs.

    Nicely works !
    So far only tested it in the beginning, but it lowered temperature to around 60 +/-. I changed resolution to 1600x900.
    For comparison New Vegas with Ultra + 1920x1080 gives me the same level "overheating" / temperatures.
    Now I can play both Fallouts for hours !

    Hey man i really get like 35-40 FPS with these tweaks but one thing that i hate is there are some invisible walls,roofs even when i get near them some roofs on the sanctuary is there a way to fix this ? I thinks it has something to do with the draw distance maybe ? Well i hope there's a way to fix them.

      Why don't you just try it? if it doesn't then just restore the original ones
      But your pc is decent should run 15-30+ fps without this tweak.

      What are your Specs? If its lower than this you most likely would have to upgrade cause Beth set my settings to Low.
      OR Look for people closer to your Specs, I think someone mentioned a GT 430M

      Model: Dell Vostro 3446
      CPU: Intel i3-4005U, 1.70GHz, 2xCore
      GPU: Nvidia 820M, 2GB (Previously said 870M, Sorry)
      RAM: 1x4GB, DDR3, PC3-12800, 800Mhz (Max = 1)
      Storage: 500GB SSD, Samsung EVO 850
      OS: Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-Bit
      On Auto-Low, Lowered Settings, Slightly Higher Drawing Distance and No Low-End Mods. Also played for 4 Hours on Performance Mode -Power Plan- and killed some bugs and demolish houses.
      So I know that with a Low-End Mod I can handle Crowds.
