I have some Bad news, the Math for each Rank is off if you want the reduction to be 20% per Rank for 5 ranks, or 25% for 4 Ranks. I did the math already so I'll share it with everyone.
    20% for 5 Ranks = Rank 1: 0.8, Rank 2: 0.75, Rank 3: 0.667, Rank 4: 0.50, Rank 5: 0.00
    25% for 4 Ranks = Rank 1: 0.75, Rank 2: 0.667, Rank 3: 0.5, Rank 4: 0.00
    5% for Survival= Rank 1: 0.95, Rank2: 0.9475, Rank 3: 0.9445, Rank 4: 0.942, Rank 5: 0.9375
I hope this helps, I never really used this mod so I only noticed it while trying to help Krakmonkey001 on the Forum work out the issue he was having with his modified version of the mod.

The current implementation is how the mod should work, you start off with 20% reduction of the total weight, 2nd rank you get 40% off the total weight etc.

The values you've provided would be 20% off the total weight for the 1st rank and the 2nd rank would be 20% off the modified weight from the 1st rank and so on.

Oh, the irony of someone saying 'the math is off' then proceeding to bring up incredibly off math... Brings tears to my eyes hahahahaha

Actually the commenter is right the mods math is off, I tested this in game because I noticed a discrepancy with the numbers (at least in the survival mode version for far harbor) right now that version at level 3 of the perk reduces the weight by 28% ish percent instead of the advertised 15% this is because the mod compounds the reduction. Say a piece of armor weighs 20 pounds in the game at rank 3 in the survival version we would expect 15% off the total, 20*.85 = 17, but with the mods current value it calculates it as 20*.95*.90*.85 = 14.535 which is roughly 28% off the total value instead. So the above values that the commenter posted should be the correct values. You can use FO4Edit to set these right instead of waiting for a patch.

Does this impact stealth too? I know weight does but does this too?

Can't seem to get Strong Back until level 40, and the icon is greyed out and displayed oddly.

4 years late, but yeah i had the same issue. i was using both versions at the same time instead of just the FH version.

As much as I think this mod is pretty darn cool, 80% is a tad much. Is there any way you can upload a version that maxes out at 50% instead? Just to make it slightly more balanced.

Hey, thanks for this mod! Endorsed.

I like the idea, but as I was playing around with FO4Edit (and trying to learn stuff), I decided to try out some tweaking.

So I made a change so the bonus you added is moved out of "Strong Back" and placed in "Armorer" instead. The idea would be that by crafting or adjusting armor pieces with your increasing expertise, you optimize them, effectively reducing weight while maintaining the defense quality (or something...)

The multiplication is steeper, having 4 ranks instead of 5... (being x0.8(-20%) / x0.6(-20%-20%) / x0.3(-20%-20%-30%) / Set to 0 (-20%-20%-30%-30%). I was thinking of capping it at -80% at rank 4 maybe as an alternative...
Plus I liked the idea of giving that perk another functionality, most characters would buy them anyways "only" as a requirement to craft good stuff. With this, there's this extra effect to sweeten the deal.

Changed the description as well, thinking of some decent wording (english being a second language, could certainly be improved), the first rank for example being:
Vanilla: "Protect yourself from the dangers of the Wasteland with access to base level and Rank 1 armor mods."
Modded: "Rudimentary expertise with Armors: Unlocks crafting of Rank 1 Armor mods, and all armor parts have their effective weight reduced by 20% while worn."

Still testing it, and made this just for personal use with my preferences (and as a learning process), but if visedgrunt is interested, I could send this 'version' so you can provide it as an optional download - not that the author couldn't do what I did in like... 2 minutes, but still - Just thought it was a valid alternative but still 100% part of this mod, so if there is interest, the right thing is for this to stay in the original author's page.

    Cheers!

PS: The issue with power armor "undressing" your body armor (hence nullifying this mod's effect) is still present, even using the UNnaked Power Armor mod... Actually it kinda works for resistances and SPECIAL effects (IF this plugin is placed before the UNnaked one), but the weight reduction is gone (I have no clue why either these effects "work" the way they do...)

This mod has an unexpected effect when mixed with power armor. When you put on the regular armor the weight is reduced as it should be, but when you then enter power armor your armor's full weight returns. Is there a way you could make it so the weight reduction persists in power armor?

Yeah...I've noticed this too. Kinda sucks. Power Armor technically unequips all your armor so you're naked (even with a mod to add your defense stats to the power armor).

It might not be fixable, idk.

Anyway you could make this compatible with Frost? Strong back got moved to 8 instead of 6

You should say what's the difference btw normal and survival one, im not instrested on reducion armor sound, just the weight so i don't need the damn backpack and can use a jetpack instead.

I opened up the mod in FO4Edit to check for conflicts, it overwrites Far Harbors change of the number Strong Back perks back to 4 (twas 5 with FH).*The NumRanks tab
    Will this work as intended?
And I am using the Far Harbor version of the mod.

Um for some reason Strong Back has a grey-out Vault boy with all my perk points removed
EDIT: Fixed, just downloaded the reg version instead of the Far Harbour one
