I ran into the same problem Nerd had that guide was written by the MO2 guys and the Lovers Lab and Creation Club guys before the pandemic when Nexus and Bethesda kicked them out of the community and they started boycotting our site. Here is the problem Bodyslide was not updated and Atomic Muscle Fusion Girls was abandoned the only mod that is still working is the Jane Mod for FO4 and Skyrim. also the guide was written in 18 and Scarlett was not online since the end of July.
The guide says use Look Menu 6.18 this is incorrect using an outdated mod with Bodyslide and FOSE will cause both to crash also if you install Atomic Muscle or Fusion Girl get the current versions and Look Menu current version don't listen to Scarlett they have not updated that guide since the last update which was the end of August. The issue is AAF has erection animations and was not updated on their website and is still in beta they recommend MO2 and Creation Club but Creation Club was shut down at the end of July and MO2 is buggy and will screw up your hard drive.
Here is the correct thing to do Run Vortex and install their mods and install the current version to turn off red flags then purge your mods to reset your game. Also watch your load order! bodies go on top, bodyslide goes after the body mods but before look menu and animations go at the bottom. Companion Mods go at the top make sure to install the patches or the mod will crash. Another big culprit is Buffout the one on our site is the correct version the one on modland and Github is the wrong version and if you install that and Look Menu and Bodyslide are in the wrong order your game will not even start because it screws with your data folder. Get the current version and place it on the top below FOSE and XSE if you don't have these enabled your going to crash. If AAF gives your trouble disable it if Look Menu has problems turn it and Buffout off. always update your mods every quarter or an update will take them out.
It's 2023 and the game still freezes in Character Customizer when you click CLOTHES... Now this wasn't the case a week ago on a different profile. So it's something conflicting. But I can't figure out what. Someone below said to clean the mod. Guess I'll try that for now.
(edit) Yea, no... Cleaning it did nothing. I'll try moving it around the load order and report back. But I'm using Vortex which is a PAIN to do any load order changes. FIX IT VORTEX!!!

HOWEVER, the "AAF Fucking Manual" says to use the older version I believe .18. Anyway, using the updated version atleast fixed that problem. If I run into anymore, I'll post here.
using latest version the game wont start or just start 2 seconds of intro and crash i've spent 2 day to try every single mod then i have to discover what the problem come from when i intalled the new looks menu the game instant crashes or crshes after 2 seconds of intro video i'm only with this problem?
I think i found a temporary fix... once you get into character creation (when you create a new character) do these steps: 1. Choose the character that you want to play (male or female) 2. Go to body edit but DON'T CLICK ON ANYTHING!!!! 3. Simply go to console commands and click on your character and type: removeitem 00174d2f 4. Exit console commands and enjoy !!! *flies away* (<- 9gag ritual... don't ask questions) ** In adition don't click on clothes button, just do the things you usualy do.
Sadly, i have the same problem. I made clean install, LooksMenu in the ONLY ONE mod, obviously with F4SE latest version. CBBE installed or not doesnot matter. Game frrezes when trying to remove closes in Body menu and ALSO randomly frezzes during gameplay, more priciselly in heav combat situations.. I'd call this a soft freeze bacause i'm still able to switch to desctop. Emphasis on this - it's started only after last update and honestly i'm not sure it's F4SE or LooksMenu issue. It wouldnt be a problem if its affected only player Body selection, but it's affecting gameplay. When easter holidays are finished i reaaly hope to see a fix either for LM or F4SE.
