Heads up for people in the same situation as me: if you've come here looking for vertibirds for non bos factions THIS is the mod for you!. I used Craftable Vertibird Signal Grenade forever but it could be quite buggy with other factions, the test update for this od is great, it allows for minutemen and railroad vertibirds if the bos is gone!

Nice, thanks for sharing. I knew there were other options for this kind of mod, but I'm trying to figure out how to do these things for myself. I make little mods like this, upload them here, and make them available for others. It's also a nice way to ensure I have a backup in case something happens. Also I merge a lot of my little mods and it's easier to do that with my own work.

A little tip for setting conditions:

In an ammo crafting mod I made I have the vertibird signal grenades as a craftable item. You can take a look at that if you want but what I did was set the requirements to look to see if the player completed a certain stage for particular quests. It works like this, the player must have finished "Show No Mercy" in order to get the ability to craft them since this is the quest where Maxon gives you the grenades upon completion. There are two additional recipes that also check if the player has finished "The Nuclear Option" with either the Minutemen or Railroad. If the player has completed the quest with one or the other but has NOT finished "Show No Mercy" with the Brotherhood it will unlock the recipe for either of those factions instead. Either way once "Show No Mercy" has been marked as completed you gain permanent access to crafting the grenades regardless of whether or not you are in the Minutemen, Railroad, or Brotherhood. The other two however will remain locked preventing multiple copies of the same recipe.

However upon consideration it may be better to mark the Minutemen variant as unlockable after "With Our Powers Combined". According to the wiki page for the Railroad the vertibird won't become available (In other words Tinker Tom won't sell the grenades.) until after "The Nuclear Option" with the Railroad has been completed. For the Minutemen Preston will give you grenades after "With Our Powers Combined" has been marked as finished. In any case, setting the requirements to check if a particular stage has been completed will work better than faction checks as the player then immediately gains access to the grenades as soon as they become a member of the Brotherhood or in the case of the Minutemen, right at the start of the game after "The First Steps" has been completed. This also prevents the appearance of multiple recipes because the player is a member of the Brotherhood of Steel, Railroad, and Minutemen.

Thank you very much SamusKnight2K, that is very very helpful!

I didn't know about the ability to link it to completed quests.

Edit: What if, in addition to the requirements you've stipulated, you make two versions of the grenade? One requires "Show no mercy," AND allied with Brotherhood of Steel. That way, once you're hostile with them, you cannot craft anymore UNTIL you reach the prereq's set by either completing "Nuclear Option" with the RR or "With our Powers Combined," for the mm?
Sure there'd be one more entry in the CK but in the crafting menu, you wouldn't notice anything except the grenade reappearing at the appropriate time.

I imagine that would work, you'd have to probably set a condition to check if the BoS is hostile to you. I haven't used the Creation Kit yet since it went into open beta but I could test it in FO4Edit and see. However I'd probably recommend against that just for the fact that once the player gets the ability what's to stop them from crafting a whole surplus? Far as I know attempting to summon a vertibird while the Brotherhood of Steel is active AND hostile would probably just make the vertibird attack you on sight or nothing would happen. Something similar happens with the Synth Relay Grenades you get from the Institute, throw one down while the Institute is hostile (Oddly they still work even if you destroy them.) and the synth that appears immediately turns hostile towards you.

Putting in conditions in order to craft them for me personally was just to prevent the player from stockpiling them prior to when they become accessible. Taking that away afterwards feels kind of pointless since they can stockpile at that point.

You should add this to Bethesda.net because as a console player this is probably one of the most important things I need

Okay, I'll figure that one out. It SHOULD be compatible with consoles as it only adds a recipe set on conditions.

It is uploaded as "Simply Craftable Vertibird Grenade."

    Nice! Thank you for sharing.

It was always kind of annoying to have to use a signal grenade to go to the Prydwen to pick up more if you didn't want to walk.
