 Description

  •  This mod lets you use Workshop Mode to exchange dirty objects and food for ones that have clean vanilla assets.
  •  On first load, a message box will pop up and a new "Restore Old Items" menu will be installed via script under "Decorations." (Thanks to DarthWayne's "Custom Categories Template" mod for providing installation and uninstallation)
  •  Created items are static. If you want items with physics, scrap the static versions and you'll find the clean Junk/Aid/Misc in the Workshop inventory.
  •  New objects added by mod are designated by prefix "Restored."
  •  Scrapping returns vanilla Junk if available, which means that some scrapped items (ex. teddy bear, trifold flag) will revert to snapping into the middle of objects again if moved in Workshop Mode. My fixed snap point meshes are only assigned to Restored items to avoid conflict.
  •  Dirty objects that yield fewer components than their clean counterparts will require you to make up the difference. (ex. Blowtorch requires oil and steel to get Fumigus Blowtorch)
  •  Pre-war food can be purified (clean stats, uses 1 RadAway) or superficially cleaned (dirty stats, no RadAway). Only makes a real difference if you convert the statics to Aid.
  •  Static lamps light up and can be turned on and off. Scrapped Junk lamps emit no light.
  •  Due to the vanilla pre-war oil can being called "aluminum" despite containing none, you can convert used oil cans to the "aluminum oil can" or "oil can."
  •  I made the combined mesh options of umbrella-in-stand and baseball-in-glove since collision made it hard to manually place the ball in the glove and umbrella in the stand. Scrapping them will return separate items.

*** I have no plans to create new textures since I don't have the time. If you want to make some,
send me a message and maybe the mod can be expanded.

 Manual Install

If you're not using the Nexus Mod Manager, unzip the .esp and .ba2 files to your Fallout 4\Data folder

 * * * IMPORTANT UNINSTALLATION INFORMATION * * *

If you want to UNINSTALL this mod, first craft the "Uninstall Restore Old Items" chem at a chemistry station
and use it before removing the .esp. Otherwise, the Workshop menu may get messed up. After this, even if the
mod is enabled, it will no longer work and any Restored objects placed in the world will be gone.

 How to Reinstall After Uninstalling

To REINSTALL after uninstall, disable the mod if it's in your list, open a game save, save it and quit,
enable the mod, then reload the save.

 Changelog

Version 2 has been completely revamped and adds:

  •  organized menus
  •  new snap points for objects that needed it
  •  objects can now be created as immovable static items or scrapped to Junk/Aid/Misc items with physics
  •  new objects including empty decorative alcohol bottles
  •  working Activator lamps

  •  removes mutfruit since both versions look the same
  •  replaces loose folders with a .ba2 archive
  •  uses the old "Normal Version" as a base for component requirements

 Compatibility

 Issues

Scrapping the Restored Tin Can statics does not yeild a Junk version like it should. Can't figure it out.

 Things That Haven't Been Added

  •  Mr. Handy Fuel - mesh showed up, but couldn't be created or placed
  •  I wanted to make clean versions of the couple of pre-war Sanctuary magazines, but FO4Edit won't allow Books as an ingredient. Is restoring burnt magazines too far-fetched?
  •  I tried to add clothes, but FO4Edit won't allow Armor as an ingredient
  •  Converting burnt books to clean ones
  •  Non-Cabot portraits in desktop frames
  •  Pre-war photos in desktop frames
  •  It's possible to make a Light that can be carried in inventory, so I could probably make working non-static lamps.
