Mods are personal choice, can't expect a majority of players to like what you have created. My personal opinion, trees are just wrong here, there is not enough soil depth for them to thrive, so not lore friendly. But appreciate you didn't want to make a forest either. Thanks for effort!
I actually suspected to get some negative feedback based on how little was added or changed when first launched, and the tree problem too.
My intention was to never make an overhaul, my actual intention was to add a bit more shadow and color to the city and to draw the eye to a few more locations, and fix some of Bethesda's lazy placement of bushes and objects. The tree design i chose was purely down to preference and i in no way deny it is not lore friendly. Feel free to ask me any questions, and the mod is out at 1.04, including a LOT more content originally then first release, check it out! .
Be sure to read the changelog to see exactly what i have added, and be sure to keep check on the images section as with each update i will add the location i changed/fixed.
Just installed to see what it does. It's subtle but I like it. I haven't noticed any issues like other people are saying. I had hoped it would clear up all the trash piles around the city but there still are plenty, most noticable around The Dugout Inn. I know nothing about modding really I'm just an enjoyer of mods, but I gather that some things are 'precombined' and those remaining piles may be that. In my head, people prefer to live in a clean environment, and given the pride that Diamond Citys residents seem to have for their hometown, I don't find it credible that they would tolerate having trash piles everywhere. I feel like bethesda missed on this detail, and have made every area trashy except for BOS and the Institute and honestly it irks me a bit. I don't know if the author is still maintaining or working on this mod, but it would be awesome to see a clean DC.
This mod just made diamond city crash my game every time I try to access it, I tried uninstalling the mod and deleting the saves associated with it and loading from an older save but it still crashes my game. If anyone knows what I'm doing wrong please let me know. Thanks in advance.
I don't want to spread bad information here, but I'm having some issues with this mod that make it really hard to recommend.
I personally like that all it does is make a bunch of little touches. Much preferred over the overdone overhauls everyone else seems to favor.
But this mod does seem to have some problems. In the area by the wall, where you meet Abbot, it looks like there's a bad mesh... possibly even a broken precombine. All hearsay, but I have a feeling it's actually both. I have a texture replacer for the square, red footpath tiles. But there and only there, it loads what looks to be the vanilla one. Telltale sign. The next bigger, more obvious sign is the huge purple astral walls shooting out all over the place in the area, like something out of tron. All emanating from those same tiles. Something funky with previs, maybe? Not sure. Definitely not good when you see that. It generally only happens when something actually breaks in the cell. And that leads to many, many other issues.
Disable the mod and this all goes away and installed textures go back to loading normally. Also worth mentioning, this still happens when I go to Diamond City with a fresh save, never having loaded any mods but this one. It is definitely this mod causing it. One thing I will say, it is intermittent. Some people may not see it, unless they go to that part of the city often. Well... it's not always visible, but I'm sure the problem is always there. I went the whole way on this, first checking for conflicts in FO4edit... which there were none. Proceeded to disable any texture mods affecting Diamond City, leaving only the overhaul, in case for whatever reason a texture of mine was incompatible with the edits made. No go. The only measure that fully solved it was fresh save, no Diamond City Enhanced. From there, I can load all of the rest of my mods and am not able to reproduce the problem.
In a recent playthrough, I got stuck in the Dugout Inn. Just crashing/hanging on load screens or just immediate CTD as the door animation finished. My first thought was back to another texture pack that altered some very common meshes that also happened to be part of a precombine. This gave me CTD's leaving from any interior to an exterior where the objects were in the immediate cell. Occasionally I would also get CTD's outdoors... typically when entering cells with tire piles in them, which were also altered and also precombined. Incidentally, one of the other culprits were those damned footpath tiles. He changed the mesh and I would see the same purple walls emanating from them in the cemetery out by Covenant, accompanied by some nasty lag.
This is not me just guessing either. It's a widely known problem with the mod, one that has been investigated more deeply. Have a look in the comments for the mod Fallout 4 HD Reworked Project Revised for more information about the problem with that mod, as I do believe it relates partially to the issue with this one. The author himself has acknowledged the cause and recommends not using the esp. that replaces meshes for various objects. There were I think 5 or 6 of them in there that broke precombines. For me, this broke half of the game world in the most insidious ways.
Crazy stuff, honestly! But apparently it does happen outside of foliage overhauls! And people say texture mods can't do this kind of thing. I'd contest that either way... I remember a certain Sanctuary texture mod with a bad normalmap causing CTD's on the outskirts of Boston! No, really. Two times the fun diagnosing that one! But now I'm getting off topic for real.
In the case of Fallout 4 HD Reworked Project Revised, disabling the .esp dropping in the precombine-breaking meshes fixed my problems with exteriors such as artifacts and previously unexplained performance drops, as well as some CTD's, but unfortunately the save appeared to have been corrupted, as many of the CTD's outside stopped, but some leaving interiors never did. Only previously un-visited locations were spared. Starting a new playthrough without the .esp file fixed this and I was able to play through the whole game without a single loading screen hang or CTD. This was a long time ago now, but after what I went through to figure it out, I'll never forget it. Couple hundred hours on that save tied to that mod were lost. Because somebody tweaked the wrong mesh.
I don't even want to get into the amount of troubleshooting spent trying to figure this out. I suppose that's why I was able to isolate it more easily this time, though. Hopefully I can save someone else out there a little time.
Now, with this mod, I'm facing a similar issue, only my save has become dependent on that mod running. I either start a new playthrough or accept the artifacts and performance drops in order to not have CTD's when leaving certain Diamond City interiors :/
I have to wonder, did this mod remove or alter anything from the worldspace without fixing the precombine for that cell? I'm betting so. Seems to be something a lot of modders used to do back before this became more known as something ya just don't do. It's not always safe to move stuff around in a cell... you can add all you want and it sits on top of the precombine, but shifting anything around can easily break it. And from there it's a dice-roll as to what will happen next. A lot of people probably still don't realize that messing with the wrong object or mesh can wreak havoc on the game and even your save. So many unsolved posts scattered around the internet of difficult to pin down CTD's that continue even after conflicts and other usual suspects have been ruled-out. This mod hasn't been touched in a couple of years. I could see it being possible. Wouldn't fault the author if they simply didn't catch it. Sometimes even if you're careful it's easy to miss... for some reason this type of problem doesn't always manifest predictably, though it's pretty nasty when it does, unfortunately.
Given how old this mod is and how it appears to have been abandoned, would strongly recommend passing and looking elsewhere. I know I'm dropping it with my next playthrough! Really too bad. I've always liked this one.
thanks for writing that all out, it explained my exact issue. it looked fine until i entered some buildings, pink missing textures in flags, mirrors etc. Just outdated for sure, again thanks for saving people a ton of time!
I don't know if my sorting is wrong or if there is something wrong with my computer. After entering DC, a dangling platform will appear in the upper left.
I saw this mod on a list for best fallout 4 mods on pcgamer and I gotta say....why? I looked at the pictures and watched the video and I was sitting here asking myself "did I miss something?". I mean, this mod adds trees, rocks, and foliage that doesn't even make sense in what is supposed to be the biggest city in the commonwealth. There was nothing creative or impressive here. There are several diamond city modifications that add new sections to the city and with one room added more to the city than what you did in the entire city...which was really nothing. Pretty lack luster.
9 posts, 0 kudos...wow! And did you read the description which states what you posted? I don't use this mod, but your post is useless. Quick fix for you....uninstall and move on
@salumander4 I don't really care that this is years old, I'm shocked that it's still here and the first comment on this for years. As wellden said, thanks again for your worthless contribution and overall s#*! post. It isn't just for this mod, but all mods in general, if you have quarrels with something, uninstall it. The fact that this got placed on a list doesn't effect you at all and at the time this was a pretty decent mod that was friendly with other mods. You and those like you are the soul sucking scum that makes mod authors eventually stop posting or working on the mods they create. So ya, seriously dude, stfu. I hope you matured over the last few years becuz it's hard to imagine that you were not anything more than a bratty little shit.
@Nalushedesh The above goes for you too. I gave wellden and the mod author a kudos for you sticking up for this s#*! post.
