Hey man, really like the idea of this mod. Long shot, i know this is from 2016, but is it possible for another version of the mod, adding way more DT ?
You might want to take a look at the Reflector perk, which works similarly with Energy Resistance, to find a way to balance the two. With this mod, Toughness would be dramatically better than Reflector. And besides, it just seems a little incomplete.
I don't know that there's a perfect solution either though; theTalkieToaster hasn't even fully addressed ER.
I'm not entirely sure, but I think DT is applied to all kinds of damage, and then DR and ER are applied after DT. I might be wrong about that. But I think that's how it works.
This is completely right. DT is subtracted as a flat amount from any incoming ballistic and energy damage (DoTs like Burning or Poison are unaffected). The Refractor Perk just does the same as the old Toughness Perk only for Energy Resistance.
I agree, that this makes the new Toughness Perk much more viable than before for both defending against energy and ballistic damage. And it would be cool to have DT apply to separate damage types, but TalkieToaster already stated, that he would not implement this in the near future.
Basically, the Refractor Perk is in my opinion as lackluster as the old Toughness Perk, perhaps a little bit less since it is harder to get high Energy Resistance in the game, but not by far, especially when it is so far up in the perk tree.
So, if you would take the new Toughness Perk AND the Refractor Perk both on Rank 5 an energy attack of 70 points would do 25 points damage to you naked:
(70 damage - 20 DT) * 0.5 from equal ER = 25 damage
