Version 1.1a is out! What I've added is small, but also, rather big. The two changes in 1.1a are as follows:
1. I modified some of the values for the bonuses and negatives. Fatigued only applies when you get 80 Fatigue, and Thirst bonuses add straight AP regen, like the Health regen, instead of modifying the regen rate. This has a small advantage over regen rate.
2. Caffeine is now a thing. Caffeine temporarily buffs your Fatigue, which means you can offset Fatigue, until you get to a bed, by using good old fashioned Nuka Cola. Nuka Colas have been modified to account for this, and you can even get a Wired state, if you increase your Fatigue under the normal cap. Also, Mojave Imports has been updated, and I took the liberty of adding Coffee grounds to Coffee Tins, so this valuable resource will be easier to craft.
Version 1.2a is out, and exciting news, I have messages working! The changes are as below.
1. When your condition changes, you get notified of the condition being added, along with a small description of the stat effects. Sadly, this required a restructuring of the system itself, so you need to uninstall the old system using the Uninstall instructions on the front page, before proceeding with the update. You have been warned!
2. Modified Curie's Healthpack, so it won't restore hunger, but will work on Health again.
3. Made a quest item compatible with the Thirst system. You probably would not have tried to drink it anyways.
Well, it finally happened. Someone fixed the biggest major concern with Survival Mode. They give you the ability to quicksave, though I hope they eventually get a better hotkey for it than taking up one of the precious 8. This at least proves that things will be changing.
So, that being said, it is very likely that when I get back to modding, I will make sure this mod is stable, and everything I had planned is working with the GECK, but I will most likely begin working on tweaking the survival mode more than anything. This will still be an option, but I will likely leave it as is after getting it stable.
If you want to get to the quicksave mod and experience Fallout survival without fear of crashing, go here: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12593/?
It is highly recommended that you use this mod in Survival Mode: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/13054/?
You can still use my food drink and fatigue system with that mod. I will most likely be utilizing something similar to turn off the vanilla food and drink system, and using the survival fatigue system in future versions. I think this is about where I want the mod, so for the time being, I am testing with Rule Breaker's ability to turn off the food and drink system.
Okay, here's a question I would like to pose. Since I will likely be shifting over to a system which activates the old system when not in Survival mode, and retweaking the survival mode to my liking, I have a radical idea on how to handle the survival mode diseases.
Now, this should be prefaced by saying, this is me coming up with ideas before I have gotten the chance to PLAY survival mode, since my computer is still out of commission. So anything that follows, if it is already in survival mode (and I just didn't find the right info) then please disregard.
The primary thing I would like to do with diseases is to make it more immersive. When you get a disease, you won't know what the disease is. You will only be told about your symptoms. This would simulate being in the game and getting a disease. You know how you feel, but not what you have. You can then try to self medicate depending on what you -think- you have. However, all medicine will have side effects, and you may not be curing yourself since you don't know what you have.
I think it would make the diseases a bigger deal, and make you think about them as more than just a simple debuff you have to make an item for.
I used your mod now for some time, switched to Survival now, but any chance you will make food and h20 like your mod? I really like it that way. Seems Survival is not the same.
I likely will. I just got news that my computer is repaired and is being sent back today. So I am super happy. We'll see how long before I get back up and fully operational and updated on everything. However, yeah, I would like to tweak and change the existing Survival mode, as well as offer a Lite version you can enable when outside of Survival mode. The Lite version would work mostly like the system does now, and the Survival mode would have all of the more advanced changes (like this proposed disease mechanic).
It says Im parched. Im drinking, from a stream, drinking, drinking... still nothing. I find some concrete and build a pump. drinking, drinking.. more drinking. still parched. Ive had dreams like this. uninstalling
The concept of this mod is cool, but I find the lack of notifications to be a tedious endeavor. If it added interface changes to the "Stats" menu, it would be a 5/5 for me. As of now, I constantly have to go back into several menus and read what's going on with my character, eat things 1 at a time, leave pipboy, re-enter pipboy, go back through the menus to check for any changes. It just makes it more of a chore. If a notification popped up for every hunger interval, it would be great.
Also, I've never dealt with thirst with this mod for some reason. I've gone days without drinking and no changes to my character.
If you'd like to use this with Canteens of the Commonwealth, I've made a patch that you can download here: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/81923
You should probably mention the fact that the Hunger and Thirst default states add OP buffs like +2ap regen and +1hp regen AND 30 health respectively somewhere on the main page...The default game gives you wayyyy too much health already and Stim Paks, that little buff you added just removes need for healing even more so and just gives again EVEN more health. Fine if you want to play a power fantasy with no challenge but personally I was trying to add some difficulty, for me atleast this isn't a lightweight mod at all, sorry.
Hello, I have installed the mod through the Mod Manager, when I check the mod inside the game, I can see the mod appears as installed in the game. However, when I get to the cooking station to craft the hunger system item doesn't appear anything, only the vanilla recipes. Can someone help please?
I installed the mod, cooked the hunger book and now my character does not heal, his health bar is set permanently around 75%, no rads, and nothing raises: food, stimpaks, sleeping... nothing.
I opted to uninstall, and post a question here to see if maybe I am doing something wrong.
Was anyone ever able to fix the satiated hunger -30 HP issue? That's the one thing I'm still seeing...I guess the solution is to never eat more food than to hit the basic limit?
Read the Bug reports, read the comments. This mod will likely f*#@ your save aswell as ALL survival replacer mods and tweaks ect. It is simply...use survival or don't. ANY mods in between or effecting one or the other will f*#@ your save. I've searched for 3 days (roughly 5 hours) every SINGLE mod out there....each and every......will f*#@ your save. Stay safe kiddos.
I don' t know about all of that, however if you are looking for an alternative STW try Survival Options. It uses the default Survival Mode and then allows you to adjust the settings to your preferences. Such as keeping the default hunger and fatigue systems, but turning off the disease system, etc. As for it messing up your saves? Well I've been using it for at least the past year across multiple play-throughs without issue. Best part about SO? Lots of customization with only one esp file.
Survival Options mod is only for people playing in Survival difficulty. This mod will not mess up your save. I disagree with SolidSnakeMan. Dehydration got stuck Fix (drinking water didn't help). I fixed it by uninstalling it. I uninstalled, made a save, and then re-installed. Then I had to craft the items again under the new UTILITY section, and start by creating the "Start Hunger System" item. Then the needs system came back working (o^-^)b

I've resorted to trying not to eat too much to avoid getting the health regen buff

I am not playing in survival.
