As you have changed the one to real world name, do you plan on others? ie: Jet = Amphetamine/Cocaine or derivative, Psycho = P.C.P (Angel Dust), Buffout = Anabolic steroids . etc
I'll consider it, but probably not. Those other names are pretty iconic and have earned their place in the lore IMO... Med-X just never really fit. I can't really imagine a street drug being referred to as 'Med-X', lol.
Morphine is widely used in warzones and battelfield scenarios AND opiod based pain-killers are obviously desired on the streets so this fits better in my humble opinion.
I could rename and change the characteristics of anything, but I don't know how to create esp files from scratch, I only know how to edit. For myself, I have already renamed med-x to morphine, buffout to xanax, mentates to methylphenidate, jet to methamphetamine, Day Tripper to dimethyltryptamine and much more
Med-X is arguably iconic itself at this point, since New Vegas embraced it wholeheartedly and it was all over the place in that game's dialogue. Though it is a pretty crappy name, and it would've been nice if they could've come up with something more creative in the first place rather than just using the first thing that came to mind after the ACB refused to rate the game.
To be honest I don't think having straight-up morphine fits terribly well into the game because of the fact that all other drugs (medical or not) do have obfuscated names.
So thanks to Australia we have invented names instead of realistic ones? I say f*#@ Australia, couldn't they make an Australian pussy version like they do with german "non gore" ones and leave untouched versions for other countries?
I suppose you know some of the stories behind the development of Fallout 3, right? Just to recap, Med-X was actually supposed to be called Morphine, but some Australian board would have made the game illegal to sell in Australia, so any reference to a real-life drug was renamed (some were possibly removed, as well).
So, what I mean to say with this is... It is very fitting to rename Med-X as Morphine.
EDIT: Oh, and the renaming became the 'canon' version, so all versions of Fallout 3 and subsequent games worldwide have Med-X instead of Morphine.
Yep, I was made aware of this while modding FO3. Thanks for sharing though. I was kinda surprised no one had done this yet already. I actually haven't played the game yet beyond Sanctuary(can't stop modding lol), so I might add the effect of temporarily ignoring crippled limbs (if it doesn't already do that) to add some more utility in combat.
i made one that renames it to morphine diacetate. but that screen shot is that item sorting mod? looks fantastic. also you wouldn't happen to know how to get the toon to say "yeaaah" or "ahhhhh" after using the morphine like when using daytripper or daddy-o, ive need trying to figure it out for a month or two now for my diamorphine mod.

...but that's just like, your opinion, man. 😉
