      youre all good.
      History time!
Though youre doing it right by swapping the armor ratings. the problem is that the T-60 was an upgraded T-45 with self-quarantine systems. the self-quarantine systems are designed to keep the user safe from the elements of all WMDs better then the T-45. and the T-51 didnt have it. so it was better then the T-51 in anti-radiation and the like. the reason the X-01 and X-02 where developed where to make a self-quarantine combat power armor... as the T-60 was designed for domestic use in riots and where the virus was spreading.
The X-02 lost to the X-01 in trials. So the X-02 was stored in equipment archives in the mid US. where it was found later by the Mid US BoS. the X-01 was picked up later by the Enclave and edited into the first APA, fitted with a built in fusion core... later developed into the APA mk.II.
      ...
on that note. can someone PLEASE make a CORRECT Advanced Power Armor?

Yeah but all of that is a bit hard to swallow after hearing the devs themselves mention that the T-60 was originally an updated T-45d but then they decided to make it a standalone thing
    3. Don't forget that the T-51 is still referred to the as the PINNICALE of prewar power armor, but then the T-60 proves that statement wrong, meaning #@$^ bethesda..

I know I'm -years- late but whatever.

I am so happy this mod exists to deal with my lore addiction and hatred for filthy casuals.
  3. Does this cover DLC? (For example Nuka World T51 or Automatron T60)

No idea, it's been years since I've actually played FO4 and I'm just too lazy to check. If I recall, it's just a mesh swap

If this swaps the BOS armor for T-51 does that mean none of them have the BOS paint anymore since it was made for T-60?

From what I remember it actually still applied the paint correctly

I've put these keywords into the site multiple times and your mod never appears. You've done exactly what I've been asking for on multiple sites, for years, restoring the T51b to the best p.a and making the T60 a T45 modification.

If you ever add a tip option for this file, please bump my comment and I'll give you a decent one.

Completely agree with you on the swap though for different reasons.
Outside the fact that its stated in game that the T-51 is the pinnacle of power armor technology there is the fact that the T-60 is covered in bullet catches. In the real world covering yourself in more armor is less effectual than angling that armor in such a way that it directs damage away from its weak points or itself. bullet catches are basically points were bullets hit the armor with maximum force as apposed to the armor deflecting a portion of the energy of the attack away typically resulting in additional damage, and reduced armor effectiveness. the T-51 and the X-01 are better designed as far as deflecting rounds away from themselves having less bullet catches.
I would explain were all these bullet catches are but im not going to write a book here but to put it short anytime you see a flat spot on the armor assume that is one and that isn't all of them.

Everytime I see a new Bethesda armour design it reminds me of Rob Liefeld's hilariously disproportionate badly designed metal armour.

I like how bethesda tried to pass t-60 off as more defensive even though it has more exposed pipes, and a more exposed neck area, and overall just a worse design.

thank you for this, i like how beth returned the BoS to their roots in Toddout4, and as someone who played Fallout 1 at release, i needed this.

Personally I'd prefer just swapping T-51 and T-60 stats as well as their place in the leveled lists, and then renaming T-60 to T-48 rather than transforming T-51 into T-60 and vice versa. (it just causes problems for me on my saves since I go out of my way to collect T-51 suits while I can and it never seems to rename the T-60 looking suit to T-48, just calls them T-51 and the T-51 looking suits T-60...)

Ideally I would want a complete retcon of the T-60 as a Post-War brotherhood design. removing it and and the X-01 from the leveled lists so you don't find either in Pre-War areas. Make it so X-01 only spawn in set, post war areas and make the T-60 brotherhood only.

Much like how X-02 is stronger than T-45 but weaker than T-51, have a patch for the X-02 mod to give it the same stats as vanilla T-51. The T-60 should be made from the X-02 factories that the Brotherhood salvaged and reverse engineered from the Enclave base crawler when they hit it from orbit (since the Enclave couldn't self destruct the facility in time and the orbital strike did less damage to the Power Armour factory than a self destruct would have, which is designed specifically to prevent capture/reverse-engineering etc.) With Scribe Rothschild being personally responsible for the design of the T-60 as an uparmoured T-45, and while not as protective it's more rugged and reliable than the notoriously difficult to maintain T-51. Granted this also means switching the T-60s from pre-war sanctuary with T-45(s) and/or T-51(s), and doing the same with the Atom Cats. Also adding a terminal entry on the Prydwen to explain the (new) origins of the T-60.

Name changes only take effect if you a) drop the object in question, pick it up then drop it again; or b) you've never entered a cell with the object in question before, thus allowing the game to use the updated instance naming rules before the actual object is created. Certain items however already exist the moment you start a new game so they'll need to be picked up then dropped for the name to update. One or two items will have a fixed name regardless and this is because the item actually spawns from a levelled list with a name that overrides the default value for that object, such as the piezonucleic armour you get from Cambridge Polymer Labs.

If you want you can go right ahead and work on my mod to add all the stuff you requested - I only swapped the meshes as it was less of a hassle and the T-51 was stated to be the top power armour you could get, bested only by the Enclave's APA. But mainly because I really, really like the appearance of the T-51 over the T-60. The lore thing was kind of a side benefit.

Things like X-01 appearing in pre-war facilities and such I just ignored because I'm not too bothered about muh immershuns. I like to make up stories that passing Enclave troopers probably stored the armour while they camped out at said locations then one thing led to another and hey they is deader than duck soup!

Speaking of muh immershuns, I wonder how many more views this mod would get if I slapped on immersion/immersive on the title lol

See that's where you're misunderstanding, an F-35 is more advanced than an F-22 but isn't better than one and the F-22 is still the pinnacle of military aircraft right now, see what I mean now? T-60 being better stat-wise in-game doesn't necessarily mean it's better in-universe it can have a s#*!-load of problems making it terrible in a military capacity but great for a single user in the wasteland.

Dude you're still all over the place, and if you think you aren't then you really should word your comments better, because I'm still confused. You're saying an F-35 is more advanced, but the F-22 is still the pinnacle of military aircraft?

      Wat.

There's a very big difference between 'better' and 'more advanced.' One can be subjective, the other is generally accepted as a term referring to improved technologies.

Where did I say that the T-60 being better stat-wise meant that it's better in universe? I already pointed out that the T-51 was stated to be the top dog of pre-war power armour. That's kind of why I created this mod in the first place lmao, aside from the fact that I just wanted to see myself wearing the T-51 a lot more than I wanted to wear the T-60.

The T-60 being better than the T-51 in stats is because Bethesda wanted players to use their armour for later game use when everyone is at a higher level. What's the point of putting in all that effort in making a completely new armour mesh when nobody's really going to see it?

So who wants to make a T51 BoS paint job? I can't actually use this mod right now(PC broke) but I remember fairly well there's no BoS paint for 51s.
