    Sticky
Hi all, tyvm for all the comments and endorsements! I have changed the category of the file to audio - sfx. I think it is better there, since it is an audio edit mod, not exactly a user interface mod. Anyway, this mod is "done." There are some other mods that get rid of misc. sounds, so I prob wont upload anymore as to not create multiples of mods.

Why Bethesda thought it was a good idea to transform the franchise into a damn cartoon is beyond me, fortunately, there are mods like this to slowly solve it.

Slightly conntected to this, but is there a way to disable the Pip-Boy Icon during XP gain on passed speech checks?

That is actually in the dialogmenu.swf, not in the hud menu as some may think. I believe no one has released a separate mod to get rid of it, because there are numerous options for hud/dialog files and compatibility may be challenging? Would have been cool if XDI added that option though from the start...

In any case, I always just do it myself after I get my hud/dialog (truehud/xdi) mods all set up. If you are just using vanilla hud/dialog menus then compatibility is not a thing to worry about.

the swf. files for FO4 are flash files and you would need a decompiler program, the best free one is called JPEXS. It is actually not that hard to do, let me know if you want more info and I can write up a little guide for you to follow to get rid of it.

      Oooh! Please do.
I'd love to get rid of it and I don't mind getting my hands dirty a bit.

Cool, first d/l JPEXS here (I am giving you a direct link to the latest release).

      https://github.com/jindrapetrik/jpexs-decompiler/releases/tag/version18.4.0

Your Windows defender/AV may have a fit, its a false positive, let it through.

Make a copy of DialogueMenu.swf as a backup just in case in "X:\Fallout 4\Data\interface"

Open up JPEXS, drag the orginal  DialogueMenu.swf over, some errors may pop up, answer "no"

The file will open, click on the folder "shapes" on the left hand side. You will then see a icon list of animations on the right hand side. There will be 7 associated with the pipboy speech check "define shape 34-40"

Highlight it, then right click and select remove (DEL) for each one, that is it then!

Save the file and that nuisance will be gone finally!

Let me know of any issues or you got it, etc.

      Thank you!
I'll try it once my LO rebuilding reaches User Interface.

This was the first sound-removing mod I used years ago. It's amazing how terrible it is to shoot, whether it be a cockroach, raider, anything -and every single time you hear a "DING!" cash register sound inexplicably from nowhere.

There are more mods since then that remove even more stupid sounds in this game, but this was one of the first and thankyou from all those years ago. I  would have ditched this game if this hadn't existed.

Thanks for this! Makes you scratch your head why the devs even added this annoying sound effect in the first place.

Great mod, thank you! Combining this with a custom HUD that removes the XP notification, and I really have to pay attention to make sure distant enemies are dead. I love it when combat feedback comes from what's happening in the world (like an enemy's dying scream) than from the UI. Thanks!

I am not sure of your issue then, sorry. Some other people have mentioned this through the years, but I have no idea what it could be as it is just a sound file that would overwrite anything in its place if manually installing, or take precedence over a file in a BSA as well, since its loose.
