I did have an idea to have underground wiring, if you had a pole where the wire connects at the bottom of the pole and the pole snaps to the terrain at the top of the pole so just abit of the pole sticks out of the ground you could still activate it to connect wires, use a shader that only makes the poles visible in workshop mode like seen in Visible Idle Markers
you can then make wire connections below the surface for a extra clean look, maybe have another pole that is visible ingame that has a top and bottom connection so it acts as a transition from under to over ground
Also have you ever thought about water piping?
Where we have to actually pipe up objects that need water. So if you build a water pump at one side of the settlement and a object that needs water on the other side it dosnt magickly get water, you have to run piping across
Kinda like using the conduit pipes
There once was a mod that did this but has since been hidden but you can see here https://web.archive.org/web/20170221221041/http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/21290
the author took the mod down years ago to work on it but seems to have stopped working on it
Thought the idea was up your ally would be cool to have a water version your your transfer system so we could have one settlement be a water pump station transferring water to all other settlements
It's basically a pole for wires and it's top end snaps to the ground.
But my mod offers an entirely different solution to the "neatly tucked away wiring" problem already.
Water is transferred via the supply line system.
I just pretend the supply lines are also water pipes.

That mod seams nice, but I wouldnt recommend it. Requires "Place Everywhere"(which is buggy and ctds) or "Place in Red"(which requires Cheat Egine) and can have you vulnerable to viruses.
Thank you.
Actually I hope to see more volumes as that would mean more to hunt down and even more cool things to unlock. You should spawn some thick heavy nerd glasses, slide rule and maybe a pocket protector next to the book. Ok maybe just some basic glasses and a pencil or two. lol
Seriously I'm going to have fun with this mod.
Volume 2 will probably concern itself with NUCLEAR POWER.
