When I was a young lad there was an episode of Lost in Space with the Keeper, he was an alien that went to various worlds to collect different species.
I was inspired to do that with a settlement of sorts and the need had arise for control over various beasts and prey.  As time went on I kind of got carried away
and had a full blown mod on my hands.
