released on the 19th of June 2022.
The patch 3.0.9c is an intermediary update, set to fix some aspects of the mod, and to lay the groundwork for the update 3.1 who will be the final patch.
- Perks -
-- The perk Nuclear Trance has been largely overhauled.
- Nuclear Trance (Rank 1): The radiaton damage have been increased and now ignore your enemies resistances.
- Nuclear Trance (Rank 2): The required level is reduced from 31 to 28.
- Nuclear Trance (Rank 3): No longer gives you a radioactive aura, but instead confers you a bonus of 1 points to all your SPECIAL stats for every 30% of radiation suffered, up to a maximum of +3 points to all SPECIAL at 90% radiation and more.
The required level is reduced from 63 to 49.
- Nuclear Trance (Rank 4): No longer imbues your attacks with radiation damage, but instead increases all damage you do by 10% and all damage you receive by 20% for every 30% of radiation you suffer, up to a maximum of 30% more damage caused and 60% more damage taken at 90% radiation and more.
The required level is reduced from 83 to 66.
The goal of this overhaul was mainly to solve the issue caused by the old Rank 3 version, the radiation aura, who was causing much more problems than expected, as the messages I received about it can testify.
However, it was also important that this change allows to the perk to stay a viable choice, all the while maintaining the focus on the radiation theme, by giving it a more important role than in the base game: now, instead of a simple nuisance who reduces your maximum health, radiation can make you more powerful, at a costly price.
How to find a balance and exploit the power of the atom is up to you !
-- The perk Scrapper has been renamed to Engineer and has been expanded, and Engineer (Rank 4) has been added to the game.
- Engineer (Rank 1): Required level increased from 0 to 10.
- Engineer (Rank 2): Required level reduced from 23 to 20.
- Engineer (Rank 3): Required level reduced from 55 to 39.
- Engineer (Rank 4): Increases the amount of resources obtained by scrapping items or buildings by 25%.
The perk Engineer is now associated to a new functionality: Tools, detailed in the Items section below.
-- For readability reasons and to avoid confusion, the perk Great Engineer has been renamed to Weapon Designer.
- Items -
-- As announced above, the perk Engineer is now tied to a new functionality: Tools.
Tools is a new category added to the Chemist Workbenchs, which will allow you to use your raw materials to produce more complex parts, as seen in the list below:
- Adhesive (Engineer Rank 2)
- Concrete (Engineer Rank 1)
- Rubber (Engineer Rank 2)
- Circuitry (Engineer Rank 4)
- Crystal (Engineer Rank 2)
- Gears (Engineer Rank 1)
- Fertilizer (Engineer Rank 1)
- Optical fiber (Engineer Rank 4)
- Fiberglass (Engineer Rank 3)
- Oil (Engineer Rank 2)
- Plastic (Engineer Rank 3)
- Springs (Engineer Rank 2)
- Screws (Engineer Rank 2)
All the aforementioned parts are produced by chunks of 25 units.
This new functionality is part of a process to allow players to produce by themselves some of the more complex parts required to modify equipment or build colonies, and to reduce their dependency to exterior sources and random chance and also to introduce some sort of industry making.
- Explanations and projects -
As you maybe have noticed, the last update was published last october, almost 8 months ago, 8 months of inactivity and total absence of news and communication from my end, and you are probably asking yourself this question: "Where is the patch 3.1? !"
The answer to this question is simple: no one, or rather, in my head.
Indeed, it has been some time, and in fact, even before I release the previous update, I felt some sort of lassitude towards Fallout 4.
Ma last real playthrough is several years old, and my latest attempt at making a new save only lasted for a few hours, and despite me taking genuine pleasure in doing so, especially thanks to my own mod, I simply was attracted by others games, others projects, others horizons.
And the truth is, on paper and in actuality, the patch 3.1 is the most ambitious of the entire history of this mod, perfect to end this great adventure I started more than 5 years ago now.
But, who says ambition also says dedication, and temps, lots and lots of time, much more than it seems: indeed, for the sole update 3.0, the most important, the biggest and the most complex of Perkfest history, it took me no less than 6 months of dedicated work, hundreds of hours spent conducting experiments, developing new ideas, creating synergies; in reality, it almost equates to the development of an entire video game so huge the spectrum covered by the update was.
The version 3.1 is even more ambitious, and I know it for a fact, because my roadmap has been decided for more than a year; will require even more time, and, in all honesty, I simply did not manage to gather enough courage to start working on it, even more as I am accutely aware that my mod has encoutered little success despite its huge qualities, giving me the feeling that I am doing all of this for nothing, that I am doing my best to produce great quality content who will remain largely ignored, and knowing this really doesn't help stay motivated either.
So, here is why I didn't give news for all this time.
I still have the desire and ambition to make this final update a reality, but as of today, I cannot give any estimation as its release date; the roadmap is make, and while I can get new ideas along the way, the core of the update is set in stone and won't change unless unforeseen technical issues.
Anyway, thanks for your support, the update 3.0.9c should be released in the next few days.
Note: the French version is fully finished, so I can now focus on the English version, and both will be released simultaneously as always.
