How-To: Creating pre-built packages (for download)

It is really easy to create pre-built packages, which can be uploaded to Nexusmods for non-Complex-Sorter-users - if you know the steps.
In fact this was the main purpose of this script in the first place (for generating the FallUI Item Sorter packages).

It's possible to create any coverage you need: You can generate a esp covering your whole modlist. Or just cover one single mod. Or a specific
list of mods.

So i will describe the process a bit more detailed.

Step by step

  • Start FO4Edit (without -autoload if you used that)
  • In "Module Selection":
    • Right-click any ESP and select "Select None".
    • Re-enable the ESP(s) which your patch should be for. FO4Edit will automatically enable all requirements as well.
    • Enable "R88_SimpleSorter.esp" too.
    • Click (shift+) "OK" to continue.
  • Start Complex Sorter
  • Go to the mod selection in "Input ESPs" and click "None" first. Then enable the ESP(s) your patch should be for.
  • Setup your wanted configuration. (I would recommend the default one for the basic tag ESP. But you can also make weightless etc - just as you like)
  • Be sure to enable "Include all R88 INNR records" in advanced options, so your ESP will be all-inclusive. (Ruddy88 kindly gave the permission to include his INNR records in CS created patch files)
  • Click "New ESP" in "Output ESP" and type in a unique name for your patch.
  • Click "Generate Patch" and watch the magic
  • After finished, view the results in the new (bold) ESP file. Check the "File header > Master Files" if it only contains the minimum dependencies. Click through the records and check if all items tagged correctly
  • Thats it - Your patch is ready to be used. Package them as a RAR file (or maybe include it a FOMOD) to upload it to Nexusmods

Notes
  • Permissions: Make sure you have the permission to create a tag patch file for the desired mod(s). So ask the mod author(s) if you are allowed to create a tagging patch.

    • For the Complex Sorter parts: You are allowed to distribute your created ESP file on Nexusmods. (Ruddy88 kindly gave the permission for the included INNR rules as well)

  • Languages: You can easily create other language packs as well. Just start FO4Edit with the parameter "-l" and the language code, e.g.: "-l:esmx".

    • Be sure to enable "Translate R88_SimpleSorter" for the language packs.
    • Even if you don't master the language, you should check the result for the typical characters used in that language. If it displays a lot of "????" or strange missing characters in the middle of a word something haven't worked as it should
    • Most languages work just quite well, but some charsets can be a bit more problematic, like the cyrillic charset for russian language packs. It may be fixable by adding the FO4Edit parameter "-cp:utf8" in some cases. If not, you probably need to (temporarily) setup windows with the russian codepage. (there exists tools on the internet allowing this for a program call)
