Fallout 4

The files section of this mod page has two mods for download: 1) Grind-Free Game Settings, 2) More Grind-Free Game Settings. Both are .esp files tagged as .esl, so they will not count against the 255 mod plugin limit.

You can use either mod, both together, or none. All they require is the base Fallout 4 game. No DLC is required. Download the mods from the files section, install like any regular mod, and place near the bottom of your load order. If another mod covers one of the same features, you can still use them together. Whichever mod is lower in load order will control.

Grind-Free Game Settings

This mod does the following:

1) Pick locks much easier, provided you already have the required perk to pick them. The lockpicking mini-game can become mildly irritating once you've played this game for a couple hundred hours, and this bypasses it.

2) Hack terminals much easier. Only one password, the correct one, is displayed instead of three. This works provided you possess the required perk to hack the terminal.

3) Text on terminals displays much faster (25 times faster than vanilla, which is almost instant).

4) Settlement power lines can be connected 9 times further away, as compared to vanilla.

5) Settlers and other NPC's can more easily sandbox between multiple floors, as a result of changing the fSandboxCylinderTop game setting from 150 to 600 and fSandboxCylinderBottom from -50 to -600, so NPC's can detect sandbox markers two floors above and below them.

6) When you jump from a height and land wearing power armor, friendly NPC's will no longer turn hostile.

7) When NPC's block doorways, bumping them will make them respond in one-tenth the regular time, and they'll move twice as far away when bumped, as compared to vanilla.

More Grind-Free Game Settings

This mod does the following:

1) You can now build all regular crafting stations (cooking, weapons, armor, chemistry, power armor) right off the bat without requiring Level 2 of the Local Leader perk.

2) Quest markers will display 5 times further away instead of only when you're right next to the quest objective.

3) Your followers will no longer annoy you by attacking non-hostile RadStags who are minding their own business.

4) When you ring the bell in a settlement to summon the settlers, your settlers will run to the bell instead of walking.

5) Jet will no longer show up in prewar coolers and prewar containers that haven't been opened since the war (however Jet will still show up in Vault 95).

6) Pipe weapons will no longer show up in prewar safes or prewar trunks.

7) You can craft a "Jetpack Ring" at the chem station, under Utility, that will give you jet pack ability (from your footwear) without the need for power armor, and prevent fall damage while the ring is equipped.

Customizing the Mods

If you like some but not all of the changes these mods make, some options include:

(1) Not using either or both of the mods.

(2) For any feature where you prefer another mod's implementation, put the other mod lower in load order than this one (e.g. if you want the terminal displays to be 20 times faster instead of 25).

(3) Open the mod in FO4Edit and change the values to whatever you prefer, or delete any game setting overrides you don't want.

Updates

There is a green "Track" button above to be notified of any content updates, and an "Endorse" button if you enjoyed the mods or found the mod list helpful. You only need these optional downloads if they sound interesting or if you'd like to endorse this file, in which case thank you! Your endorsement (or lack of one) helps gauge whether enough people are interested in this list being kept up to date as new mods are released and modded Fallout 4 continues to evolve.
