A: By default the original Fallout 4 game places Edward Deegan automatically in Bunker Hill, The Third Rail in Goodneighbor or the Dugout Inn in Diamond City; Edward Deegan will approach your main character and offer a job which starts the Cabot house quest line.

A: This issue, CTD before the main menu, occurs if you have mismatched versions of the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch (UFO4P) and old generation Fallout 4 (versions before 1.10.980) due to missing masters. You must download the correct version of UFO4P for your version of Fallout 4. As of 2025-02-17, the current GOG version of Fallout 4 is version 1.10.163, which will cause the CTD if using the current version of UFO4P (only compatible with the new generation Fallout 4 version 1.10.980 or later). Downloading the Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch (version of 2.1.5) for the GOG version of Fallout 4 (version 1.10.163) resolves this issue.
