Q: Can I play Depravity if I haven't played Project Valkyrie, Outcasts & Remnants, or Fusion City Rising?

A: Yes. You can play Depravity at any point in your game. It is tailored as a beginning of game mod, to give you more options right after you leave the vault, but you can start at any point. You can also play Depravity and FCR/OAR/PV in any order. The mods complement each other.  You can play any of them first, or all four at the same time.  Outcasts & Remnants must be installed for Depravity to work. FCR and PV are recommended but not required.

The mod works on a new or existing save game, regardless of what point in the game you're at or which factions you've sided with. However, if you want to play 100% of the content, Kellogg must still be alive. If Kellogg is dead, you won't have an option to take him as a companion. Same with Tina de Luca.

Q: Do I have to play as a bad guy to access the mod's content?

A: No, not for the mod's main quest. You can be a good guy/gal the whole way through. However, if you want access to all the side content, some evil choices will be required, including authorizing slavery, murdering elderly people in cold blood, and tearing apart a family.

Besides that you can be as good or evil as you want. The Concord Fallon's building has a slave dungeon, but it's up to you how you use it.

Q: Why is all the official Bethesda DLC required?

A: Because the DLC assets are integral to the story, and the DLC has been out for at least 3 years and is dirt cheap at this point.

Q: Why is Outcasts & Remnants required?

A: It has asset files that this mod uses in order to keep the file size reasonable. Without those assets, large parts of the mod won't work. You don't need Project Valkyrie or Fusion City Rising installed, but they fit nicely with this mod. You don't need to play Outcasts and Remnants if you don't want. You don't even need the OutcastsAndRemnants.esp file, just the assets.

Q: I don't have x, y, or z DLC and/or my game isn't updated. Will you make a special non-DLC or outdated game version just for me?

A: No.

Q: How do I start the mod?

A: Talk to Stella, the little girl hanging out at the entrance to Concord, just down the road from Red Rocket Truck Stop. If you agree to help Stella, the quest "Murphy's Law" will start. The rest of the mod opens up from there.

Q: Is there a minimum level my character needs to be at before playing this mod?

A: No. You can start right after leaving the vault. If you're playing on level 1, then before you do the quest "Blood on the Highway", head up to the roof of Concord Fallon's and grab the sniper rifle. You'll have a lot more fun that way.

Q: Are there new weapons, armor, perks, etc.?

A: Yes.

Q: Compatibility?

A: Works with everything unless explicitly stated otherwise. That means you can play this mod with any other mod unless the main mod page says otherwise. Compatible with Horizon, Start Me Up, Sim Settlements Conqueror, Welcome to Goodneighbor, Better Goodneighbor, Diamond City Expansion, and compatible with everything unless explicitly stated otherwise.

Some mods have specific instructions on their mod pages about load order, e.g. Diamond City Expansion, so please follow those instructions.

If you use Amazing Follower Tweaks, don't Import A.I. on the Depravity companions. Leave A.I. intact. More details halfway down the page on the Troubleshooting article. Here is a handy guide on AFT courtesy of Reginald (Author of Ivy).

Q: I play the "Alternate Start" version of Start Me Up where I'm not a parent. Will that work with this?

A: If you kill Kellogg the normal way, then yes, 100%. If you want to spare Kellogg by doing the quest in Depravity that Murphy gives you to track down Kellogg, you'll need to put on your earmuffs for 20 seconds at the beginning of "Like a Goodneighbor" and 10 seconds when you first meet Kellogg, or just pretend that your character is lying for effect in those 2 conversations. If you kill Kellogg the normal way, those conversations never happen.

Q: Can I use CBBE, Jane Bod, Atomic Beauty, Wonder Body, Fusion Girl, Vanilla, etc. with this?

A: You can use whatever you want. A few NPC's in this mod use outfits that are CBBE based. Without CBBE or Fusion Girl, textures will look weird on them, in which case ask the NPC to trade and equip a different outfit.

If you don't like the body variations CBBE offers, you can install the CBBE Vanilla Nevernude body, and that will give you basically the same body as vanilla, but with access to more outfits, since most outfit mods are CBBE based.

If you have a strong preference for one body type over another, that's cool.  No need to leave a comment.  Everyone has their own taste.  As mod makers all we can do is try to make custom outfits compatible for the maximum number of users.

Q: Can I use x, y, or z skin texture with this mod?

A: Sure.

Q: Load Order?

A: You can use LOOT to sort load order for you as a starting point, but don't rely on it. If sorting manually, Depravity.esp, ProjectValkyrie.esp, OutcastsAndRemnants.esp, and AAFusionCityRising.esp can go relatively high up in your load order, as they don't touch many vanilla records. Depravity.esp and ProjectValkyrie.esp need to be below OutcastsAndRemnants.esp in load order since OAR is a master to Depravity and Project Valkyrie. The load order between ProjectValkyrie.esp and Depravity.esp doesn't matter. The way most people order it, from top to bottom, is:

1) AAFusionCityRising.esp
2) OutcastsAndRemnants.esp
3) ProjectValkyrie.esp
4) Depravity.esp
5) DiaryOfAMadman.esp (if running Diary of a Madman)
6) PiperCaitCurieDialogueOverhaul.esp (if running Settler and Companion Dialogue Overhaul)

Q: Lore friendly?

A: Yep, but if you like to argue about that kind of stuff, here ya go. This is your game. Never let someone else's opinion of which factions you should side with or what choices you should make affect how you have fun playing your game.

Q: I don't think my character would side with Kellogg, even temporarily.

A: You aren't required to side with Kellogg. You can kill him like normal.

Q: But I don't think anyone else should have that choice either. It's unimmersive.

A: RPG's aren't for everyone.

Q: Battle difficulty?

A: Tougher than vanilla. Strategy typically required or you will die more than usual. Save your game often.

- If you use weapon or armor mods that affect leveled lists, the enemies you face in this mod will often be wielding those weapons and armor.
- If you use overhauls that make Raiders, Super Mutants, or Ghouls tougher, they'll be tougher in this mod too.
- If you use damage modifier mods, those settings will carry over into this mod.

If the battles feel too tough, options include 1) See above, 2) Adjust your in-game difficulty settings, 3) Get better at not dying.

Q: Are the player and all NPC's in this mod voiced?

A: Yes.

Q: Does this mod take place in the Commonwealth, or a brand new world space?

A: In the commonwealth and in new indoor spaces accessible from the Commonwealth.

Q: Will this work in VR?

A: Depravity, Project Valkyrie, Fusion City Rising, and Outcasts & Remnants weren't designed with VR in mind, but a few people have tested and reported back that it works, provided you either have loose files enabled or have archived the files. There is no official support for VR.

Q: Why is there not a .ba2 archive version of the mod?

A: To provide flexibility, avoid issues for users who won't read anything on the mod page, to let everyone else easily see and make their own decisions about any file conflicts or customization they prefer, and to ensure compatibility with earlier mods. Many of the authors who gave permission for their assets to be used in Outcasts And Remnants had left modding by the time Project Valkyrie and Depravity released, so new permissions could not be obtained, and we rely on OAR for those assets.

If you want to pack the mod into a .ba2 on your own, there are tutorials online, for example here. Unless you archive all these mods correctly, it can cause certain mod functions to break and the later mods (PV/Depravity) not being able to access the asset files from OAR. You're completely on your own if you try it and void the warranty if you do. The mod is released with loose files rather than archives for a reason.

If you would like more information about archive vs. loose files, there's a good overview here, and if you would like to debate the issue you can do that here, but please not on this mod page.  There are pros and cons to either method.  This mod page isn't a forum to rehash those all over again. Ba2 comments will typically be deleted to avoid starting a flame war.

Q: Can you make the outfits craftable, repairable, bodyslide compatible?

A: No. The mod authors who were kind enough to allow use of their clothing/armor assets in this mod worked hard on what they created. A list of all the outfits, with links to the mod pages, is in the credits at the bottom of the main mod page. If you like an outfit, please visit the original mod author's page, and download their file to get the full functionality and range of shape, color, and crafting options. Remember to endorse the original author's mod if you do- it's polite and encourages them to make more free content for you.

The outfits showcased in Depravity (and FCR/OAR/PV) range from petite to busty, athletic to fat, and that variation inevitably miffs users who want all their NPC's to have the exact same shape. You can achieve any specific shape you want by downloading the original author's work. If you're a person who believes all women in video games should look a certain way, and don't want any deviation, more power to ya, but there's no need to leave a public comment about your preference.

Q: Is the Harley companion in this mod Harley Quinn?

A: No, she's just a fan of old comic books, and you help her find Harley Quinn gear by searching abandoned shopping malls.

Q: How do I make the Harley companion look more Like Harley Quinn, or customize the looks for Eden or Roxy?

A: See the article here for full details.

Q: How is Depravity pronounced?

A: Depr-ah-vity, like JuiceHead pronounces it.

Q: I'm having trouble installing the mod with NMM.

A: Use the updated version off GitHub.

Q: Nobody watches my YouTube channel and I can't get published anywhere so here's my 950-word review of your mod full of rambling inaccuracies because I didn't explore the mod or read the mod page.

A: Thank you for sharing your insight.

Q: Will this mod be available on Xbox, Playstation, or Nintendo?

A: No. The size of Depravity + Outcasts & Remnants + Project Valkyrie exceeds the xBox size limit.

Q: I'm not here to download the mod, and I don't have a question, but here's my random sh*tpost and/or I'd like to promote my own mod

A: You might enjoy Reddit FalloutMods, where you can talk smack, bond with banned Nexus users, brag about your Fallout (Name of City) vaporware project, lie with impunity, give game-breaking mod advice to unsuspecting noobs, receive mod recommendations from moderators and disgruntled mod authors shilling their own stuff, and lament about Nexus users being too shallow to understand your brilliance.

Q: I'm not going to play the mod, but here are all the things I don't like about it because it has this, that, and the other.... Oh wait, that's a different mod? Well, I still think this mod is horrible and ruins my immersion. I can't play Fallout 4 anyway because F4SE is broken.

A: Thank you for your feedback, and you have a beautiful day.

Q: What's with all the passive-aggressiveness on these last few Q&A entries?

A: The above are actual communications received multiple times.

Q: Cleaned in FO4Edit?

A: Yes

Q: Posting Video of the Mod on YouTube?

A: All of the music in the mod is copyright/royalty free, so you can keep music on. If you do a full, blind YouTube play-through, those are sometimes helpful for mod development and updates to see what works or doesn't work as you play through. Especially if you're a regular guy/gal who just likes streaming games, your channel has light traffic, and you aren't monetizing your videos or using click-bait to drive views.

If you run a popular YouTube/Twitch channel where you monetize the work that mod authors provide for free, you may enjoy featuring something else more. When certain YouTubers edit and then misrep mods they cover in order to drive views to their channel, we are stuck for years answering silly questions from a portion of their viewers.

YouTube viewers who come to Nexus asking questions which are already answered at the top of the mod page, multiple times in the Articles section, and many times in the comments, is one thing. Stalkers is another. We can't have any of your viewers threatening voice actors. After that happened on the last mod, it's easier to just cut things off at the source going forward. If you don't post the video, your viewers won't see it, the trolls and stalkers from your audience won't know about it, and everyone's happy.

If you produce factual and intelligent Fallout 4 content (e.g. Gopher, Gamer Poets, Oxhorn, Juicehead, Vynilic Puma) and wish to feature the mod in your video, just ask. We'll almost certainly say yes, provided your comment section doesn't look like it was lifted from the movie Idiocracy, and you don't foster a community of mentally disturbed incels who ping-pong hate off each other using the sense of validation and entitlement they derive from your channel to reach out across platforms to harass or threaten mod authors and voice actors.

If you run a channel that makes it more difficult for us to use voice actors (because your viewers are threatening them) and provide mod support (because your viewers can't read at a junior high school level), we can't, as mod authors, support you in making money off work that we do for free. If that isn't quite clear, here's the psychology explained another way.

In the history of Fusion City Rising, Outcasts & Remnants, and Project Valkyrie, after over 1 million downloads, we've had to block less than two dozen users for being idiots. That's a tiny percentage of the community, but too many of them self-identified as having come from specific YouTube or Twitch channels. We were tolerant of the B.S. until they threatened a child.

So here we are...
