About this mod

A small and simple mod that causes the player\'s karma to be reduced, rather than increased, for donating to either of the two churches in Fallout 3.

Donating to Churches Reduces Karma

------------
Description:
------------
It has always irked me that when you donate to the Church of the Children of Atom - a church which openly praises the nuclear holocaust and longs for Megaton's atomic bomb to explode - somehow gives you good karma.

This is insane - supporting such an EXPLICITLY dangerous and doomsday-seeking cult should reduce one's karma and be reserved for evil-inclined characters. As such, I made this little mod to correct the problem. :)

Now, donating 10 caps reduces your karma by 10, 50 caps reduces it by 50, and 100 caps reduces it by 100 (this is the same ratio of karma to caps used in vanilla Fallout 3).

This ALSO APPLIES to Saint Monica's Church. Though the preaching of forgiveness by a miraculously-conceived woman (born healthy, of two sterile ghouls) is not as outwardly hostile as an atomic bomb-worshiping cult, it's still evil in that it takes donations from struggling Wastelanders in order to propagate credulity and falsehoods, while tacitly providing "cover" to more extreme sects by revering faith in the absence of evidence.

Details:
--------
There are two versions of this mod (only use ONE of these versions and NOT BOTH):

1. Donating to the Church of the Children of Atom or Saint Monica's Church Reduces Karma.esp

2. Donating to the Church of the Children of Atom Reduces Karma.esp (In this version, donating to Saint Monica's Church will still increase your karma as it did in vanilla Fallout 3).

Though donating to Saint Monica's Church also results in karma loss in the first and full version (as it should), I thought it might be helpful to include the second version for those who, despite supporting seemingly "moderate" religious influences in the Wasteland (i.e., Saint Monica's Church), would agree that supporting extremist religious influences (such as the Church of the Children of Atom) is indeed an evil undertaking. I'm not opposed to embracing common ground when and where it can be found. :P

Installation Instructions:
--------------------------
1. Copy ONE of the .ESP versions into your Fallout 3/Data folder.

2. Open the game launcher, click on "Data Files," then select the .ESP version you chose to use - making sure that there is a check-mark in the box next to it, click "OK," and then start the game.

-----------------------
Uninstall Instructions:
-----------------------
1. Delete the .ESP version you chose to use from your Fallout 3/Data folder.

--------------
Compatibility:
--------------
This mod only changes the positive karma to negative karma rewarded when donating to churches, so it shouldn't conflict with any other mods unless they also change Confessor Cromwell or Father Clifford's donation response scripts.

Feel free to use, modify, or implement this mod in any way you want, without notifying or crediting me - a credit is always a nice thought and gesture, but it doesn't really matter to me either way. :)

Credits/Thanks:
---------------
Credits and thanks to Brazuca, whose Karma Revamp Mod provided me with an .esp to refer to when trying to figure out how to edit the scripts of Cromwell and Clifford in order to invert the karma reward system (this is my first mod, so I have virtually NO idea of what I'm doing in the G.E.C.K editor).

Thanks to Bethesda for Fallout 3 and the G.E.C.K!

Thanks to Fallout 3 Nexus for providing this site and support!

Thanks to YOU for checking out my mod! :)

And thanks to the modding community which has brought so very much to this game and to my prolonged enjoyment of it!
