Mod Name: HB's Wasteland Tent
Author: HerrBaron
Version: 2.4 (See version history below)

Note: Those updating from version 2.1 2.3 can just drop the .ESP over the one they are currently using without deactivating and uninstalling. Nothing changed in the .BSA file.

If you like this mod and use it, or have a problem with it, please leave a comment; the only feedback I’ve been getting is download count. That doesn’t give me much to go on.

Description

This mod adds a two-room , wooden floored canvas tent to the players inventory. The inspiration for this mod was Bond's Big Portable Tent from Oblivion; hence its mode of operation is very similar, with minor differences. I used Bond's tent more than any other item I had except my body armor, sword and bow. This tent is in no way the equal of his excellent work, but I wanted one for Fallout 3, so here's my offering to the community. To my knowledge, this tent is the only place in the Wasteland where you can get an Ice cold beer!

Features
  • A refrigerator which will accept both Nuka-colas and beers from your inventory (if you have any of either), and dispense both Ice Cold Nuka's and Ice Cold beers. Of course, you can place anything else you like in it, as well. Note that the Ice Cold beer will NOT irradiate you.
  • Water purifier
  • Workbench
  • Med Lab set for detoxification and compound formulation
  • Infirmary
  • Non-irradiating drink sink
  • Two floor safes
  • First aid kit
  • Independently controllable fire pits for heat; two in the bedroom and one in the sitting room. These pits are controlled with gas valves on each pit.
  • Switchable lights in the sitting room, on the bedside tables, overheads, over the infirmary, and a Nuka lamp on the chest of drawers in the bedroom.
  • Tons of non-respawning storage.
  • Comfy chairs, a couch, end tables and side tables around the sitting room fire pit for lounging and swilling beer.
  • A queen-size "well-rested" player bed, for use with or without any companion you may have.
  • Companion-friendly; Fully NavMeshed, with lots of idle markers to keep your companions entertaining.
  • Fast Travel map marker when the tent is erected, so you can always get back to it if you wander off.

Requirements
  • Fallout 3, latest update (I'm running 1.7).

Installation (Non-FOMM)
  • Unzip the archive into your Fallout3\data folder.
  • Open the launcher, and check the HBs Wasteland Tent.esp.
  • Play.

Uninstallation (Non-FOMM)
  • Uncheck HBs Wasteland Tent.esp in the launcher.
  • Remove the Fallout3\data\HBs Wasteland Tent.esp.
  • Remove the Fallout3\data\HBs Wasteland Tent.bsa.

Operation
  • Drop the manual from your inventory (you'll find it under the Aid tab); at this
point, you'll be standing on the book. Take a few steps backward.
  • Sneak and activate the book to erect the tent. IMPORTANT! The manual will fall
to the ground with the long page edges facing you; make sure that you maintain
that orientation to the book, with the long page edges facing you, when you
activate the book, or you may end up inside a hollow tent shell!
  • Activate the door to enter the tent.

To pick up the tent
  • Exit the tent.
  • Sneak and activate the tent by touching any area of the tent. This will pack the
tent up and add the manual back into your inventory, ready to be dropped again as you wish.

Acknowledgements
  • Falcon8204, whose kind indulgence gave me the great model to work with for Version
    1.3.
  • Bond123, for the inspiration to write this mod.
  • Willie Sea, author of the Ancient Towers mod for Oblivion, who has on more than one occasion been kind enough to answer a number of n00b modder questions I posted over on the BethSoft FO3 GECK forum. Thanks, Willie!
  • Fallout3Nexus/TESNexus, the very best sites with the very best membership on the net.
  • BethSoft for two truly fine games; they've given me countless hours of pleasure, enjoying both the base games, and the many fine player-produced mods that add so much to their respective worlds.

Version History
  • 1.0 Initial Release
  • 1.1 Added sink (No rads), respawning first aid kit, Infirmary. Added door frame between the two rooms to hide the join between the two tents.
  • 1.2 This release does some work with the positioning of the door, so that it's not so important that the tent be placed on level ground.
  • 1.3 This version uses a new model with an integrated door, and solves the issue of the tent sometimes appearing half-buried in the ground.
  • 1.4 The issue of the tent appearing half-buried is now crushed, once and for all! Also, the Tent Manual is now added directly to your inventory when you activate the mod; no more buying it from Moira Brown.
  • 2.0 The tent is now about half again as large as it was, sporting several new features.
  • 2.1 Interior tent retextured for cleaner, less damaged canvas. Retextured the tent supports in wood grain. Fixed a couple of lighting issues, added more bedroom lighting, fixed an idle marker issue.
  • 2.2 Fixed some furniture floating just above the tent floor; fixed the flashing shadow behind the sink. Minor tweeks to the NavMeshing.
  • 2.3 Fixed an odd flashing on the workbench at the floor level.
  • 2.4The CTD which occurred when the manual was moved into a container (either by the Player or by the game (e.g. when beginning Mothership Zeta or Tranquility Lane) should no longer occur. Please let me KNOW if it DOES, and I'll look at it again.
