Please Note! This FAQ will soon be updated and uploaded as a PDF. Due to the size, the BB code gets a little messed up and merges some of the sections making them incomprehensible, therefore the only real solution is to offer the FAQ as a download to whoever might need it (would probably be handier too).

I've just reinstalled FO3 and got it stable, as soon as I get through to the end of the current TSC campaign I'll update the FAQ to finally be completed as far as the mod. I want to thank panzersharkcat for his help in always keeping the FAQ at the top of this forum. You'll be credited in the PDF for sure along with all the others who make this mini community inside a community amazing.

Once I have all the info I can collect I'll trawl through the comments to find any bugs that aren't already listed and update all the items/quest related questions. I may call upon some of my old TSC comrades for some help ofc so heads up lol.

(Oh yea I should probably clarify, this was my FAQ originally ^^ My username used to be BingoMorris).

Welcome to the FAQ. This document has been updated for almost two years and was long ago (and still remains) approved by Nylonathathep so I guess it is kind of official. All bugs and fixes are confirmed and everything is set in colour coded chronological (in the order they happen) categories so it should be easy to find what you need.

    4. Console Stuff
    A) Useful Commands.
    B) Character Base ID's.
    C) Item Base ID's.

    1. The IMPORTANT Basics.

    A) How to install correctly.
To ensure the updates are applied in the correct order and texture meshes are applied correctly, please follow these seven simple steps.

    1. Install FOSE (Fallout Script Extender)
(Follow the first instructions on this page under [Installation] but ignore number 2)
    3. Install Addons)
    6. In FOMM at the top, select Tools > Archive Invalidation (to un-tick)
(Repeat, then select it again to re-tick. This fixes textures and meshes)
    7. You'll notice since installing FOSE, FOMM now says 'Launch FOSE'.
(Click this to ensure you are running FOSE when you launch the game)

    PLEASE NOTE
You MUST set your detail texture to HIGH or you will experience issues.

    B) BOSS (for FO3).
BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software) is an unbelievable tool which has gone overlooked (even by me) in Fallout 3 and New Vegas. It not only automatically sorts ALL your mods into the perfect order, but gives links to missing patches and suggestions on conflicts and improvements simply by running the software.

    1. Download BOSS (for FO3).
(An amazingly powerful tool, make sure you endorse!)
    2. Extract the BOSS archive you downloaded to your game's installation directory.
(The same folder with Fallout3.exe and the data folder.)
    3. Run BOSS.exe.
(This is located in the BOSS folder you just created.)
    4. BOSS will update if nessecery and warn you of errors.
(A new browser window will open with the new load order and information.)
    5. TAKE SOME TIME TO READ OVER THE RESULTS!
(Instructions and links are provided underneath each mod, you can't go wrong!)

    PLEASE NOTE
Run BOSS each time you add new mods or remove old ones!

    C) Wyre Flash and Bashed Patches
WyreFlash is another Oblivion piece of magic which has been ported to FO3 and NV. Like FO3Edit, it's an amazingly powerful tool with more features than I could explain however we're going to focus on the Bashed Patch. The tool will 'merge' all compatible mods into a single esp (the bashed patch) seriously improving your gameplay.

    1. Download Wrye Python 04a and install.
(The last download on the page, this is required to run Wrye Flash)
    2. Download Wyre Flash.
(An amazingly powerful tool, make sure you endorse!)
    3. Extract the Wrye Flash rar file to your Fallout 3 installation directory.
(The folder with FO3.exe and FO3Launcher.exe, merge the data folders)
    4. Run Wyre Flash.exe.
(This is located in the MOPY directory, or start menu if you applied)
    5. Scroll down to the bottom of your mod list when loaded.
(You will see lots of stuff, don't panic you don't need any of it)
    6. Right click the final esp called 'Bashed Patch' > select 'Rebuild Patch'.
(If it's not there, copy the blank one from Fallout3\Mopy\Extras to Fallout3\Data)
    7. It will tell you some mods need to be deactivated, click ok.
(These are the mods which can me merged, so will become one nice little package)
    8. An options wizard will appear, you do not have to select anything. Click 'Build Patch'.
(This can take a while if you have lots of mods, it usually only lasts until half the bar anyway)

    PLEASE NOTE
DO NOT activate the mods which were deactivated by the Bashed Patch, but ALWAYS rebuild your patch after removing/adding mods or changing your load order. This is VERY important!

    D) FO3Edit & MasterUpdate
Simply running FO3Edit.exe will scan for conflicts and errors with explanations on how to fix them, however one of the best parts is the Master Update. This basically creates a compatibility patch for all your mods, making them run as smoothly as possible.

    1. Download FO3Edit (Fallout 3 Editor)
(An amazingly powerful tool, make sure you endorse!)
    2. Run FO3Edit, select all your mods and click ok.
(It will say 'Finished' or 'Error' in the script to the right when it's done. Close FO3Edit.)
    3. Copy the FO3Edit.exe and rename it to FO3MasterUpdate.exe
(Literally copy the exe launcher for FO3Edit and rename the copy.)
    4. Open FO3Edit.exe and right click the list of mods on the left once everything has loaded.
(It will say 'Finished' or 'Error' in the script to the right when it's done.)
    5. Select "Create Merged Patch" and choose a name for your Master Patch.
(This can be anything you like. Choose and click OK. Close FO3Edit, click OK.)
    6. Run your newly created FO3MasterUpdate.exe and let it load.
(It will say "All Done" when complete, close the window to finalise the update.)
    7. Open FOMM and place a tick next to your new Master Merge Patch.
(It should appear at the bottom of the FOMM Load Order list, this is the best place for it!)

    PLEASE NOTE
If you add new mods or remove old ones or if you change your load order, repeat step 6.

    E) Addons and Utilities.
Slicer51b has created a section for additional mods and upgrades to the TSC mod. CLICK HERE to view the page for detailed information. Remember to Endorse, and try +Kudos to those named if you use their downloads!

    F) Known Mod Conflicts.
There are two known conflicts with other mods which cause separate problems. These mods are...

    * A Quest for Heaven (all parts)
    * The Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch

To avoid problems with this mod, you should disable the UFO3 Patch before playing through the MZC-TSC mod. The 'A Quest for Heaven' series has a fix with the latest update of their first part in the series. Detailed explanations of the problems caused by the conflicts can be found in sections 2.A and 3.H.

    2. Bugs/Glitches/Errors

    A) Crash To Desktop & Poor Performance
There is only one CTD caused by this mod, during the mission to Rivet City. This is due to a conflict with 'The Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch' and the only solution is to disable the patch. You can reapply the patch if you wish after completing the Rivet City related quests but it is not confirmed if it will cause further issues.

    How to: Minimise Stutter/Lag/CTD's.
    * Check 1.A and ensure you have installed correctly.
    * Check 1.B and use BOSS.
    * Check 1.C and make a Bashed Patch.
    * Check 1.D and make a Master Patch.
    * NEVER use Auto-save. It corrupts the soul.
    * NEVER overwrite a save. It corrupts the soul.
    * ALWAYS use BOSS for FO3 to sort your load order!
    * ALWAYS use FOMM to add and remove mods!

    How to: Improve Performance.
    * Lower your resolution/shadow options.
    * Turn down/off the view distance for grass and bushes.
    * Turn off Distant LOD (distant land, buildings ect).
    * On Vista/Win 7 right click Fallout3.exe > properties > compatibility > disable desktop composition.
    * In extreme situations you can 'toggle light bright' to get a boost to FPS and a hit to graphics. Open the console and type 'tlb'.
    * You can reset cells (like clearing Fallout 3's cache) by going to a small cell with no NPC's (megaton house, tennpenny apartment ect) and type 'pcb' into the console. Close the console then sleep for 4 days, save the game, exit and reload the game. This increases load time.

    B) Clothing Texture Warp/Errors
    * Set your texture detail to high. This fixes 90% of issues.
    * Ensure you have toggled the ArchiveInvalidated Invalidation tool.

    C) Terminals Not Working?
    * Open the console (usually ` or ~ ) and left click on the terminal (monitor).
    * The name of the terminal should appear at the top of the screen.
    * Type 'Disable' (hit enter) then 'Enable' (hit enter) WITHOUT closing the console.
    * Type 'Activate' and press enter (no quotation marks ' ' ).
    * Close the console and try the terminal again, it should work now.

    D) Harkin is Missing!
    Q) Harkin has disappeared! (not quest related)
    A) Go into your office and use your terminal. Select "Call to office > Special Addon Commands > Summon Lieutenant".
    Q) Harkin has disappeared! (stopping the current quest dead!)
    A) Go to your council room, sit in the chair and summon the council. Speak to Harkin there.
    Q) That hasn't worked!
    A) Check section 4 for Harkin's Base ID to prid and movetoplayer Harkin to you.

    E) TSC Air Support - Not Working?
After completing the 3rd Quest (The Greyhound) speak to Harkin and select 'Special Addon Commands' to activate the TSC Air Support Addon.

    F) TSC Air Support - Lost Controllers
    Q) I've lost one of my controllers, why did this happen?
    A) The controller works by selecting it, choosing the relevant option and closing the pipboy. If you select a controller twice before closing the pipboy it can glitch and remove it.
    Q) How can I get it back?
    A) Uninstall the TSC Air Support mod, load the game, save, exit, reinstall the mod and enter the game. Speak to Harkin and the option for the controller's will be active again.

    G) TSC Air Support - Choosing Thunderfist
    Q) How do I choose Thunderfist support?
    A) Select the controller named 'TSC Air Support Options' and select 'Unit Type', choose 'Thunderfist Unit' and close the pipboy.
    Q) But these are just soldiers in the Thunderfist outfit, where's the ginger guy?
    A) They aren't your average Thunderfist unit, they're your elite Artemis squad. They are not available to summon as support.

    3.Quest Related Issues

    A) Where to start?
Once you have completed the Mothership Zeta DLC, there is a button to the right of the "Activate Fire Control" button you used with the death-ray, entitled 'Activate Communication Control'. Simply click it to begin the mod.

    B) Where is the council room?
The council room is located just before the officers quarters on the left if you are walking from the bridge, opposite the teleporter to the living quarters. NOTE: This area is not available until you complete the mission where you speak to your engineer to upgrade the ship.

    C) Where is the Rivet City council room?
Head into the stairwell and go to the top floor. Enter the bridge and continue to follow the stairs to the top, as you exit on the top level the council room is to the right.

    D) Tyranids crash my game?
    * Set your texture detail to high and toggle ArchiveInvalidated Invalidation.
    * If all else fails, open the console and enter 'tcai' to stop NPC combat. When clear, repeat.

    E) Locked Doors!
You may come across a locked door when there seems no other way to proceed. In this situation you have to ensure a few things before debugging.

    * Ensure the door doesn't require a keycard. All keycards are found when you need them!
    * Make sure your tech guy (Ruiz) isn't supposed to open the door via a terminal.
    * Make sure the squad members who are supposed to be with you are with you.
    * If all else fails, open console and click the door. Type 'unlock' and hit enter.

    F) Where are the KeyCards?
    * 1st keycard is on a couch by the window, in the relaxation area (a compartment with a fountain in the middle surrounded by chairs). It is actually lit by a lamp to make it easy to spot. It can fall through the couch, if so open the console and click the couch. Type 'disable' and hit enter.
    * 2nd is In one of the bedrooms the abominations come out of while trying to get the refined biogel. Check all rooms carefully!!
    * Last Is found and given to you by Ruiz when you actually need it so you can't get in early and break the quest.

    G) Where is the Refined Biogel?
    * Go to the corridor OPPOSITE the one that contained abominations.
    * Go all the way to the end, you should see a big room with a glass bottom.
    * In this room is a key of some sort. With it you can unlock the final door, this is the infirmary.
    * After you slay the beasts go to the far wall. The one with a window. Loot the dead unique alien then unlock the box next to the window.

    H) Hatches wont open? - Sub Base.
A conflict has been reported with the mod "A Quest for Heaven" series. Please check to see if you have these mods installed. If you do, visit the mod page linked above and download the fix.

    I) Mainframe wont work! - Laboratory.
The only way this can happen is if you used console commands to get to the mainframe, if it happens any other way then please post in the comments section. Either way, this should be the solution.

Ruiz (tech guy) was supposed to open the door with a terminal, to use the mainframe now you have to go to the reception area again (back towards the door you unlocked and up the stairs). Check section 4 of this FAQ for the Base ID's. Use the console commands to prid, and movetoplayer ALL your Artemis squad to your position and continue back down the stairs to the reception room.

As you walk back through the reception area, Ruiz should use the terminal even though you unlocked the door. Be prepared for a fight with some Tyranids!!!! After you finish off the enemies, walk to the mainframe area and he should get excited and use it.

    J) Missing Some of my Artemis Squad
Certain areas will not load if some of your Artemis Squad are not with you. If you find a door that cannot be opened for example, it is likely Ruiz was supposed to open it with a terminal. If you need to locate your squad, please try the following...
    * Exit and re-enter your current location in the base, they tend to get stuck behind doors.
    * Once located, use the elevator to go down to Ruiz, then go back up.
    * Check section 4 for the commands to prid and movetoplayer the squad to you.

    K) Waiting for my 10000 caps to buy something?
If you have paid the 10000 caps you simply have to wait. Your money has gone VERY far and everyone in the TSC are working extremely hard to make everything perfect for your first viewing. Be patient and you will receive a message on your pipboy telling you to read an email on your personal console. If you're impatient like me, then sleep for 24 hours in your Commanders Quarters until you get the message.

    4. Console Stuff

    A) Useful Commands
When all else fails and you need a little "outside" help, press your friendly console button (usually ` or ~ ) and enter the relevant command. Save your game before testing! You have been warned! (NOTE: THE GAME SHOULD PAUSE and a text area appear in the bottom left, if this DOES NOT happen then please check Troubleshooting section will make sure drivers aren't blocking your console key, and the console key is actually activated. If you're on Vista or Windows 7 that's most likely your issue.)

    * PCB - Purges Cell Buffers (removes saved cells, improves performance but increases load time).
    * TLB - Toggles Light Bright (activates crap graphics mode giving huge FPS boosts in those tight situations).
    * TCAI - Toggles NPC Combat AI on and off, making NPCs fight or not fight.
    * UNLOCK - Click on the door while in console, then type the command and hit return.
    * ACTIVATE - Activates doors/terminals that cannot be picked/opened with unlock.

    * KILLALL - Kill every NPC (in area). I call this my "Jedi Nuke Attack"
    * RESURRECT - Brings the NPC back to life. Well, I am the wasteland messiah after all.
    * DISABLE - Disables the NPC/object, removing from the game.
    * ENABLE - Enables the NPC/object, adding to the game.

    B) Character Base ID's

    * Lower your resolution/shadow options.
    * Turn down/off the view distance for grass and bushes.
    * Turn off Distant LOD (distant land, buildings ect).
    * On Vista/Win 7 right click Fallout3.exe > properties > compatibility > disable desktop composition.

    * PRID BASE-ID - Locks onto a target NPC if they aren't around to click on.
    * PLAYER.MOVETO BASE-ID - Move you to the target NPC.

    * ADDITEM BASE-ID - Click on an NPC (or prid) to add an item to their inventory.
    * EQUIPITEM BASE-ID Click on an NPC (or prid) to force an NPC to equip an item.
    * TCL - Toggle noclip to move through anything.
    * KILL - Kill's the target NPC. I call this my "Jedi Force Attack"

Use these ID's with the above commands if you are having trouble locating members of your crew. Moving NPC's to you outside of their original areas will result in major glitching.

    1. Install FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager)
(The daddy mod manager. Don't forget to endorse!
    2. Install FOSE (Fallout Script Extender)
(Follow the first instructions on this page under [Installation] but ignore number 2)
    3. Install ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated
(This resets texture meshes, remember to endorse!
    4. Launch FOMM and select Package Manager > Add FOMOD.
(It doesn't matter if the mod isn't a FOMOD, FOMM will make it)
    5. Add ALL the parts this way then activate them in the following order...
(Mothership Zeta Crew V166 > TSC Air Support for V156 > Any Addons)

(An amazingly powerful tool, make sure you endorse!
(Instructions and links are provided underneath each mod, you can't go wrong!

(An amazingly powerful tool, make sure you endorse!
(If it's not there, copy the blank one from Fallout3\Mopy\Extras to Fallout3\ata)

(An amazingly powerful tool, make sure you endorse!
    5. Select Create Merged Patch and choose a name for your Master Patch.
(This can be anything you like. Choose and click OK. Close FO3Edit, click OK.)
    6. Run your newly created FO3MasterUpdate.exe and let it load.
(It will say All Done when complete, close the window to finalise the update.)
    7. Open FOMM and place a tick next to your new Master Merge Patch.
(It should appear at the bottom of the FOMM Load Order list, this is the best place for it!

    * Lower your resolution/shadow options.
    * Turn down/off the view distance for grass and bushes.
    * Turn off Distant LOD (distant land, buildings ect).
    * On Vista/Win 7 right click Fallout3.exe > properties > compatibility > disable desktop composition.

    * Type 'isable' (hit enter) then 'Enable' (hit enter) WITHOUT closing the console.
    * Type 'Activate' and press enter (no quotation marks ' ' ).
    * Close the console and try the terminal again, it should work now.

    D) Harkin is Missing!
    Q) Harkin has disappeared! (not quest related)
    A) Go into your office and use your terminal. Select Call to office > Special Addon Commands > Summon Lieutenant.
    Q) Harkin has disappeared! (stopping the current quest dead!

Once you have completed the Mothership Zeta DLC, there is a button to the right of the Activate Fire Control button you used with the death-ray, entitled 'Activate Communication Control'.

- Sub Base.
A conflict has been reported with the mod A Quest for Heaven series.

When all else fails and you need a little outside help, press your friendly console button (usually ` or ~ ) and enter the relevant command. Save your game before testing! You have been warned! (NOTE: THE GAME SHOULD PAUSE and a text area appear in the bottom left, if this DOES NOT happen then please check Fallout Wiki Console Commands. MAKE SURE you check the second section on this page called .INI FILES. The Troubleshooting section will make sure drivers aren't blocking your console key, and the console key is actually activated.

    * PRID BASE-ID - Locks onto a target NPC if they aren't around to click on.

    * RESURRECT - Brings the NPC back to life. Well, I am the wasteland messiah after all.
    * DISABLE - Disables the NPC/object, removing from the game.
    * ENABLE - Enables the NPC/object, adding to the game.

    B) Character Base ID's
Use these ID's with the above commands if you are having trouble locating members of your crew. Moving NPC's to you outside of their original areas will result in major glitching.

Ok, i've got a weird bug and i think i know how to get past it, if i have more information.

    Qoute:
    Mainframe wont work!

    EndQoute

So, Ruiz DOES get exited, does his talking, starts following me again but the quest stage never ends.
I'd need the quest ID and stage to get past this by console commands, but still it remains very weird that he does do his talking, and then does not advance to the next part of the quest...

    1. Install FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager)
(The daddy mod manager. Don't forget to endorse!)
    2. Install FOSE (Fallout Script Extender)
(Follow the first instructions on this page under [Installation] but ignore number 2)
    3. Install ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated
(This resets texture meshes, remember to endorse!)

    * Lower your resolution/shadow options.
    * Turn down/off the view distance for grass and bushes.
    * Turn off Distant LOD (distant land, buildings ect).
    * On Vista/Win 7 right click Fallout3.exe > properties > compatibility > disable desktop composition.

Select Call to office > Special Addon Commands > Summon Lieutenant.
    Q) Harkin has disappeared!

Once you have completed the Mothership Zeta DLC, there is a button to the right of the Activate Fire Control button you used with the death-ray, entitled 'Activate Communication Control'.

- Sub Base.
A conflict has been reported with the mod A Quest for Heaven series.

When all else fails and you need a little outside help, press your friendly console button (usually ` or ~ ) and enter the relevant command. Save your game before testing! You have been warned! (NOTE: THE GAME SHOULD PAUSE and a text area appear in the bottom left, if this DOES NOT happen then please check Fallout Wiki Console Commands. MAKE SURE you check the second section on this page called .INI FILES. The Troubleshooting section will make sure drivers aren't blocking your console key, and the console key is actually activated.

    * PRID BASE-ID - Locks onto a target NPC if they aren't around to click on.

    * TCL - Toggle noclip to move through anything.
    * KILL - Kill's the target NPC. I call this my Jedi Force Attack

Remember you can press CTRL+F to quick search for a bug or hint.

    IMPORTANT STUFF!!
    * Remember to +Kudos Nylonathathep for his amazing mod! (and maybe Me too if this FAQ helps). <img class=">
    * There are many spoilers ahead, please only use if you need to or if you want to cheat.
    * The FAQ does not include any information on quests past version 1.54 (mission 5).
    * All of the information in the FAQ has been tested and confirmed.

    1. Install FOMM (Fallout Mod Manager)
(The daddy mod manager. Don't forget to endorse!)
    2. Install FOSE (Fallout Script Extender)
(Follow the first instructions on this page under [Installation] but ignore number 2)
    3. Install ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated
(This resets texture meshes, remember to endorse!)

    * Lower your resolution/shadow options.
    * Turn down/off the view distance for grass and bushes.
    * Turn off Distant LOD (distant land, buildings ect).
    * On Vista/Win 7 right click Fallout3.exe > properties > compatibility > disable desktop composition.

Select Call to office > Special Addon Commands > Summon Lieutenant.
    Q) Harkin has disappeared!

Once you have completed the Mothership Zeta DLC, there is a button to the right of the Activate Fire Control button you used with the death-ray, entitled 'Activate Communication Control'.

- Sub Base.
A conflict has been reported with the mod A Quest for Heaven series.

When all else fails and you need a little outside help, press your friendly console button (usually ` or ~ ) and enter the relevant command. Save your game before testing! You have been warned! (NOTE: THE GAME SHOULD PAUSE and a text area appear in the bottom left, if this DOES NOT happen then please check Fallout Wiki Console Commands. MAKE SURE you check the second section on this page called .INI FILES. The Troubleshooting section will make sure drivers aren't blocking your console key, and the console key is actually activated.
