@ nyarlothep; Wow I wish I had found this sooner, this is awesome!!! Very nice touch. Phantoms, Tomcats and Intruders all with very immersive corrosive/oxidized finishes. Very cool indeed. Looking at the Phantom, reminds me of my Navy days. I actually got a ride in the backseat of one of those bad-boys. Crazy friggin pilot doing strafing runs at a mere 80 feet off the deck at Mach 1. Jesus that was so cool and scarey all in one!!! Strong work brother and thanks for triggering the memory.
As has already been pointed out, Aluminium and alloys thereof do oxidise.
Consider also the PAINT (or whatever other exterior coating) has been used on the aircraft. Absolutely certain they were not bare-metal finishes to start with. Factor in radiation, a century or two of exterior weathering and maybe even 'odd biologicals' (eg. a mutated fungus that likes this particular material?) and one easily could justify all sorts of effects.
hey people in the Fallout 2057 they had computers that couldn't beat the Commodore C64...so the rust isn't strange on their planes...the strange is that their planes aren't already grey dust of the wastes
Iron rusts...Aluminum oxidizes...they are the same thing...but technically only Iron "rusts"... ...but if you look at all the cars in Fallout 3, they're rusty...telling me they used steel and iron for every one of them...perhaps in the Fallout 3 reality they don't have aluminum...it might explain why everything is so bulky and awkward looking...
Uncorrect. Aluminum rusts, it's just much less prone to oxidation than steel or iron. In fact, industrial-used alluminium is chrome-coated, so it requires lot of time and very harsh conditions to become rusty as seen in this mod.

Looks good anyhow.
