So I'm also having problems getting this to work. You see, I renamed the rars as directed, and the first file worked without a hitch. However, for files 2 & 3 it says that they are broken? Sorry to bother you (if you're still even working on this), but this seems like a pretty sweet mod, and it's such a damned shame when my game crashes every 5 bloody seconds...
*Edit* Well, I made a pretty dumb move. I realized now that as this affects ambient sounds as well, it had been conflicting with *another* ambient mod that I *kinda* forgot about. Let this be a lesson to all.

Great stuff, much better than vanilla. I wonder why this mod didn't get the popularity it deserves. Endorse

Except that the Nexus does support multi-part files. Check out NMC for FNV. See how the file download is grouped. Sure, you'd have to re-upload the thing, but it would make extraction a lot easier. Just as an FYI.

I do however also agree with the .exe thing. I just install them to another page anyway, and then package them with FOMM and let FOMM handle all my overwrites. And much prefer to have FOMM handle them as to some proprietary installer (no offense, just the way it is).

I really wish a similar soundtrack was out for New Vegas. I really miss this compilation.

I was only able to get the first part to extract without repeated issues.

My biggest beef with this compilation is that it is packaged under an EXE. It is not that I don't trust Nexus to ensure that an exe is free of anything malicious, its moreso that in order to ensure that my directory structure stays as it is, I have to go through a multitude of additional steps to ensure that the music that I currently have isn't automatically overwritten. Having an exe makes this an ALL or NOTHING type extraction and installation process - and that is a poor choice by the modders involved. I have several other music files that I have downloaded, reviewed, and installed into the game already - and I would not want the hours I've spent building that collection automatically overwritten by something like this, simply because of the packaging.

For future production, I emplore the modders of this good compilation to not use exe's. Instead, simply provide a compressed set of folders that contain all the proper file pathing, and allow the user to select some or all of the file for use in their game.

I truly believe that if this was not an ulimatum install exe, that it would have gotten more endorsements and viewership. The complications that many people have had for installing the 3 part download only provides further evidence of this.

You bring up some points I'd like to address (though a bit late).

    1) Nexus doesn't allow big enough uploads to get the package into the site in one file (or even two for that matter), and the files get renamed upon upload with the file number suffix - that's why people don't seem to get the package to extract properly, as the suffix has to be removed from the filenames. This has been explained in the description and there was nothing else we could do about it, but to hope that people who did not realize the issue immediately, would come back and check the mod description.

    2) The installer does take a backup of the original Fallout 3 soundtrack (or whatever you may have in those directories). Also, you *could* just install the soundtrack into some temp directory instead of installing it straight to the Fallout 3 directory. If we provided a compressed set of folders, it would have to be double-packed and you'd still be stuck with the 3 part download - not only that, you'd also have to manually edit the fallout.ini file, creating further hazzle.

It's a shame that this soundtrack compilation didn't really get the popularity it deserved.

However I am wondering if you are planning on a version for New Vegas. It's probably not even necessary to put much new music into it but to adjust the music to the new structure, finding the right music to replace it with the right own music.

If you want to play the music outside the game with a media player, go to the <Fallout 3/data/sound/fx/mus> directory. You'll find the success (level up), death and project purity activation music there. If you have this mod installed but want to change the death cam music, replace the mus_death.wav file from this directory with your own, 44khz 16bit stereo wav file. Enjoy the mod <img class=">

diggster: You need to download all the 3 files under the files tab, then delete the "-7000" suffix from the filenames of the 3 rars (rename), extract, and run the installer. It seems you're either missing one of the packages or didn't rename all the files.
