If you are having the game freeze on Quit to a grey screen. It is something this program is setting wrong. I have been trying to figure out if it is a certain setting but can't nail it down to one so it maybe afew.
Old program needs an exemption from Windows' DEP (Data Execution Protection). Instructions on how to do that can be found here: https://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-xp/disable-turn-off-dep-windows/ (These instructions work for Windows 7-10 also)
It is a bit tricky to get it to work with Mod Organizer, as Configator defaults to the fallout.ini in the documents folder. First off, do not add the configator to the ModOrganizer's list of executables. Grab the fallout.ini located in the Mod Organizer's directory, which is located at ModOrganizer/profiles/[yourProfile] . Paste it in your mydocuments folder (after you make a backup of the original). Then launch Configator standalone, whilst having MO closed and change whatever values you want (make sure the configuration files are not read only - which shouldn't be the case). When you're done copy the fallout.ini from mydocuments back into the modorganizer's folder overwriting the original. Then launch modorganizer and you're good. Changes are saved. A bit of a hassle, but since this is an old mod, the uploader didn't bother with updating for supporting MO.
Hey there, thanks for this mod and the NV configurator aswell. I have used both very often, until yesterday.
I have installed windows 10 and now the Fallout 3 Configurator will not start anymore, windows reports error 0xc0000022. I have been looking on the internet and it seems like some kind of permissions problem but i can't seem to find a solution. I have "taken ownership" of all the fallout 3 files including the ones in "my games", starting "as administrator" does not work either. Also i've reinstalled the configurator and deleted the .INI's . Still will not start. The game does run though, the framerate is low which is why i want to get the configurator working.
I have made a second install of the nvconfigurator and it runs seemingly without problems after directing it to the fallout 3 .INI's, can i use the nvconfigurator with F3 without causing problems?
This tool doesn't seem to play too nicely with windows 10; at least for me it doesn't.
Upon starting/loading a game, it immediately ctd's and i get an error message that says "memory violation".
Uninstalling the tool doesn't seem to fix the problem, and the "Fallout"/"FalloutPrefs" files need to be reverted to an earlier version where the tool hasn't modified anything.
Memory Violation means the two primary INIs are not present or are incorrect/ non-default for the app to use them properly.
Delete both INIs, and as long as your Default.ini in the game folder is "Stock". Then you can simply Regenerate new My Games\ INIs (Via Launcher), so then the Configurator will operate correctly. I had this same issue...
The whole game is very picky about what is essentially required to operate properly and have the game open properly.
If someone knows how or what we can do to first define what the .EXE game file has as stored "Variables". As far as variables that are Absolutely 110% essential just to get the game to open, would be nice. The absolute bare minimum...
Any word on this or thoughts to the op/dev or anyone else?
I may be wrong but i think those modern graphic features would have to be added with something like an ENB. This program is mostly for tweaking the vanilla game settings.
I'm wondering if this will confict with CTD and Memory patch ENBoost since they both change some .ini settings. I like this program because i can tweak some settings that the default game does not have.
