I cant remember the alien blaster having such low quality detail???? anyway nice mod, Fujikids is kinda better but I'll use this if I want the original texture but in HD
This texture is part of my UWWUT - Unique Weapons With Unique Textures. It also has a hi-res version of Firelance in addition to all uniques having unique textures.
Yeah, if you don't want to use the textures then you don't have to. I personally like to see greater detail in third person as well as 1stperson, and since this is a unique weapon it means you're most likely never going to run across a group with it, it you come across anyone with it at all.
The purpose of the firstperson/non-firstperson textures is to reduce texture load on the video RAM. Since you're probably not gonna need that level of detail when anyone else is holding it, it's just wasted VRAM. Optimization is done by whittling little bits off of everything, and optimization is crucial for realtime rendering. Doing stuff like this opens up the "If he doesn't have to, why do I?" can of worms.
@ WarThug: That Before and After pic is the 1st person texture. Yes, it was that LOW res, which is why I made it better ">
@ a62172: The 1st person texture size (1024) is the same just higher res with more detail. The world model is now the same higher detail texture as the 1st person. So it went from 256 to 1024 "> Same for the normal maps etc.
